Touch Screen

We used to click without clicks
We embraced and bumped fists
We killed time on the side walk
We saw each other just to talk

We used to ink passages
We used to sniff paper carrying messages
We used to wrap love letters in envelopes
We used to post them with trust and hope

We used to laugh out loud with joyous elation
We now laugh out loud with acronyms and animation
We used to walk to each other or phone
We now login, time out and we are gone

Our words get synchronised into digits
Our emotions picturised into emojis
Our thoughts desperate for another’s likeness
Our connectedness inspired by our biases

We are on different ends of a line
We are lusting for someone alike
We are slowly losing a grip of our minds
As we feed on prejudices and likes

Something about us has faded away into cyberspace
Something about us is trapped in a 6 inch screen interface
And we feel the loneliness, when the keyboard comes on
With the world at our fingers tips, oblivious of the fondness of a companion

We’ve captured the best of us for the world to admire
We’ve detached the rest of us, for what we’re enticed to aspire
How much of us can we channel from within
If we have lost ourselves on the touch screen

Don't go online for your news, we hear the line
From wireless screens; so many times.'
Out there the dragons of deception play
Its best to be square.. Just keep away
There's facebook owned by a wicked crew.'
I wouldn't trust them if 'I were you.)
Oh by the way..' if you need that doc
Or a doctor, or tax form or passport
even? Then it's best you opt .'
To go online, it must be done '
It's the best place to get
All such vital Information? from.'

Ordering Online

To prove we haven’t given up,
We order things online
Since objects meant for future use
Imply that we are fine.

A sweet dessert, a case of beer
Or scotch or gin or wine
Can elevate our kitchen meals
To ones at which we dine.

Some nitrile gloves, a spiffy mask
Of chic and cool design
Remind us that to safety
While in style we can incline.

A buzzing insect’s gotten in?
To Amazon, assign
The sending of a swatter
So that fly will toe the line.

For every penny that we spend
Is proof that we still pine
For a future that our purchases
May somehow thus define.

Online Shopping

Technology taking over
Faster than we know
Smart phones and pretty gadgets
All these androids on the go
Shops are closing faster
Faster than we think
More jobs gone tomorrow
It’s an online shopping dream
Online shopping dream

Amazon, Ebay and Wal-Mart
Just to name a few
Online shopping for everyone
Is the future scaring you
You’ve got so many passwords
You can’t remember them
You’d rather stop but you need to shop
It’s an online shopping trend
Online shopping trend

Sitting here waiting patiently
For the parcel to come
We’ve got the date just can’t wait
But that parcel having fun
Has it been left outside my door
Because I never heard a ring
It’s likely disappeared again
That parcels’ a mystery

I miss that window shopping
The try before you buy
I used to shop until I’d drop
But you can kiss it all goodbye

So link your card to your account
Then you can do it too
Start your shopping online now
There’s not much else to do
Big name shops are closing down
They seem to follow suit
Joining in the online crowd
It’s an online shopping move
Online shopping move

Sitting here waiting patiently
For the parcel to come
We’ve got the date just can’t wait
But that parcel having fun
Has it been left outside my door
Because I never heard a ring
It’s likely disappeared again
That parcels’ a mystery

Online Learning

There was a woman whose name Caroline
She dreamed one day she could teach online
She learnt technology tools
But never tried to take schools
While teaching she found her students offline.

*****

All students were invited to join zoom
To download the app and attend classroom
The teacher sent a passcode
There were works on the main road
The attendees still in the waiting room.

*****

Caroline did not give up on her dream
She devised a very clever scheme
Got training on e-learning
Attended virtual schooling
At home she could host members of her team.

*****

Caroline tried to lend students a hand
They worked with all the tools at their command
She bought for each a smart phone
To build a life of their own
Caroline henceforth had it all in hand.

Online Crush

We met,We Played,We joked in the Internet.
I never thought I`d fall for you,
Never,ever thought I`d love you.

My Heart Beats a Thousand Thumps when you`re there,
I feel so Lonely when you`re not.
My Zodiac is your name,
A Fiery Lion in the Sun.

I`d never thought I`d meet you on the Internet Online Crush

Leo,Leo is his name.
Nice,Awesome and The best.
But he doesn`t know anything about me.
He doesn`t know I like him A lot.

I wish he knew so he would realize that I`m falling for him.
So he would know How I feel for him.
It`s hard to keep my feelings without saying I Love you each day.

He thought it`s just role playing
He doesn`t know it`s from the heart.
Help me for any solutions..
Of how to Confess my Heart.

Old Man Online Dating

Was it me? Did I say something wrong?
Am I some boring automaton?
The chats were fun and even light,
Don’t think I gave some hurtful slight.
Perhaps I wasn’t quite wonderful,
had good looks, or financial pull.
Don’t think I ever came off too shy,
but then again I would never fly.
Wasn’t snarky and surely not mean,
yet never successful in online scene.
Maybe what angered each little honey,
was that I'd not send lots of money.
Mexico’s out and Malaysia too,
and steered clear of European zoo.
So guess there’ll be no Russian teens,
shall I now try the Philippines?

[Was thinking of calling it LAMENT OF THE OLD PERV. And I chuckled while writing it.]

Premium Member Attorneys and Online Games

Was at a hearing with my attorney
She was more childish than Bert and Ernie
     Played I-Pod video games
My anger sure was in flames
Years had passed since I began this journey

But my sexual harassment lawsuit
Totally ignored by this pompous coot
     Ordering shoes online
     Forgetting this case of mine
It was clear she just didn’t give a hoot

My suit’s outcome would have been much better
If I had hired an Irish Setter
     Her actions were criminal
     My settlement minimal
In my next novel I’ll surely get her

She had predicted I would get much more
My dignity she never did restore
As she won her online game
     My harasser escaped blame
Lawyers and video games I abhor

Online Colonoscopy

It's time to
Test the new

No more need
To drink over a
Gallon of foul
Liquid or any

Sorts of pills
To sort through
In fact it's
Almost

Like a drive thru
Butt in your own
Home butt it's
A bit more

Complicated with
Software butt
What's worse
Is the hard

To An Online Friend

Physically, my dear...
     We are so far apart.

When you laugh
     I cannot touch your face
or see the sparkle in your eyes.
When you hurt
     I cannot hold your hand
     or sit shoulder to shoulder
in a quiet place to silently
     ease your pain.

We cannot compete
     in good natured fun
     by skipping stones
     across a quiet lake
     although yours--I'm sure,
     would always bounce
     once more than mine.
We can't hang out
     in a burger joint
     swapping fries like silly teens,
or help each other up the mountains
that are part of both our lives.

I cannot bring you coffee
or share the burden of your work
     or tag along on trips
you don't even want to take.
I cannot kiss you
     when we're happy
      or hug you
     when we both are sad.

So many little things
     friends can usually do....
     quiet pleasures taken without thought,
     moments that invite
a gentle word or tender touch.
All are denied to us.

And yet a line invisible
     connects our hearts and minds
     in bytes transmitted
with all the love our hearts can hold.
And there is nothing
my hands could do for you
     that my mind
     has not already done.

And as the wild doe is drawn
     without thought
      to water she cannot see,
So, my friend,
     thru an unseen channel
my spirit is drawn to thee.

So...if I could have one wish...
if God would grant one prayer
I would ask.....
     somehow...somewhere
     that time would pause
    for a precious moment
that we, two , can share.

Online Dating

Are you just a picture on a website
No, you’re a person and you're real
I’m sat here looking for a soul mate
Just scrolling past women on a screen
Hoping a million little pixels
Could be the woman of my dreams
My heart is so uneasy
My nerves are all on edge
Looking for a loved one
Like a tele or a fridge
Is kerb appeal all that counts
Or what an algorithm says
No, I'm looking for the lady
Who will make my life complete.

Online Dating Wolf In Waiting

On line date
Is no way to find your soulmate
It will leave you anticipating
Met with a wolf in waiting
From all the concentrating
That leads to more debating

Because they all want to lie
Hoping you will just let it pass on by
No matter how hard you try
Online dating is just one big pie
Full of men and women who won't
Look you in the eye

Constantly asking yourself why
Getting close enough to make you cry
As more time seems to pass you by
Can't find the one who makes your heart fly
Hearing so many of them lie

I fear that love does not grow here
Makes me just want to disappear
When so many want to make a career
Out of Making us fear
The love we want to feel so near
To deceive your good trust
While making you believe they are in lust

It's all one big bust
They claim that they are in love
In reality, they are no turtle dove
More like today's scammer
Waiting to clobber you with a big hammer

We need to put them all in the slammer
For being a wolf in waiting
Decimating loves gifts
To those who are willing to bare it all
Making sure not to fall

We all hope to find waiting at loves gate
Ready to negotiate
What keeps us up so late
The love we all appreciate
The one that makes us feel so great
That scammers just decimate

The more I concentrate
Im sure that others have found
Their soul mate
No way I want to complicate
The love I appreciate
I think I will just wait
To meet loves fate
Face to face

Online Dating

Just another photograph in a sea of solitaire
Waiting for someone to see.
Shall I be honest? Shall I tell a lie?
Who do you want me to be?

Would you? Could you? If you really knew?
Me, a lover, a fighter, a philosopher, a friend?
I could be any or I could be all
But still not enough in the end.
Who do you want me to be?

I am an athlete, but I am not an athlete.
I am an intellect, but I are not smart.
I am wise, but I am a fool.
I am what you want, but I am not what you need.
Who do you want me to be?

Just another photograph in a sea of solitaire?
This, will never be.
Because this is me.
A reflection upon a sea of solitaire
Waiting for someone to see.

Online Proposal

A boy of five or six of fair skin
Opens an account on Facebook
Seeing the pictures of smart girls
He could not keep his mind cool
‘’I love you ‘’ he keeps on writing
Once a girl of eighteen, an extra smart
Instead of frowning she loudly laughs
But what does this laugh mean?
Is it a sign of rejection or acceptance?
This boy was me and I am still confused.
