Nip my nose! Pound at my core!
I’ll frame a warm blanket ‘round thighs and toes.
Decorate with icicles door-to-door!
My darling and me, nuzzling like eskimos.
Together we can take anything that Winter throws.

Throw a softball of snow my way
and I will merrily call in the snowmen brigade.
They come armed with carrots and stones…olé!
Dear Winter, who will come to your aid?
                I shiver! I’m afraid!

Forget about that, I’ll take a nice sleigh ride
down a glistening hill,
with my honey-bear by my side.
With speed bumps, it’s quite a thrill.
Please Winter, don’t set out to kill.

Bitty flakes on my lashes, shoulders; I shake.
My sweetheart will take off my scarf, coat and boots.
So warm by the hearth, we’ll not soon awake.
Before that…we drink cocoa, eat cake with dried fruits.
We will dream of you, Old Man Winter and your pursuits.

Powder snow playfully dancing, watching the sky
The mercury in the thermometer shows three degrees minus
Mystery veil over bare branches
King winter has arrived, with white dreams

The pine wood atmospheric silence, with sharp wind from the north
Deep moose tracks on the trails - The king of the forest
I will never cease to amaze me over;
Where can I find "Old Man Winter" track

He HAS arrived, later than usual
But Old Man Winter's lateness is excusable
In fact another week or two
Would've been appreciated too
But we thank the gods for this snow reducible

Rain, rain go away,
We are tired of these dreary days.
Please leave us some fiery leaves to see,
Before Old Man Winter rolls in with glee!

The Gift of "old Man Winter"

He unwittingly hovers
       ...blankets of subjective weather
Plastering his artic tundra
Bandaging white clouds together
Blindly...
     ...withholding ill trepedation
Refocused on our tantalization

Frosting earth's core
         .... with an icy show
Monstrously protecting grounds below~

Alerting those...
           ...napping numb spirits
With his icy mantra of sickles and cold
Old Man Winter's snowflakes unfold
Frost bitten chills triumphantly bold

A frothy iced message
                    ...with wisdom to acquire
...conjuring those with a hidden desire
Here he laughs
            ...taunting from within
Old Man Winter is relieved again~

As our spent energies are woken
He does not speak...
              ...but has already spoken

His gift...a dormant spectacle found
As winter coats
                    ....our frosted ground
More time now
                  .....with winter so cold
Kept indoors
                 ....to ponder wonders untold~

THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINTER, IS A SIGN,
OF WHAT OLD MAN WINTER, HAS IN MIND.
OLD MAN WINTER IS UNBELIEVABLY KEEN,
CHECK OUT HIS HISTORY TO SEE WHAT I MEAN.
HE SETS US UP TO THINK ALL IS WELL.
THEN UNLEASHES A BLIZZARD FROM HELL.
WE SHOVEL THE SNOW AND CLEAR THE STREETS.
AFTER A DAY HE DUMPS THREE MORE FEET.
HE WILL MAKE IT SNOW FOR A VERY WHITE CHRISTMAS.
IN HIS OWN WORDS "YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS"
HE DELIVERS JOY FOR THE SNOWBOARDER TYPE,
BUT AT 12,000 FEET IT'S A FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE.
BACK IN THE CITY IT'S FREEZING COLD,
QUITE THE HAZARD, FOR THE WEAK AND THE OLD.
JUST OFF THE LAKE , IT WAS FORTY BELOW.
EFFECTS OF THE WINDCHILL OR SO WE ARE TOLD.
DOWN FROM THE NORTH AND ACROSS THE PLAINS,
WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ARE PURELY INSANE.
OLD MAN WINTER LOVES FREEZING RAIN.
IT'S HIS WAY OF INFLICTING PAIN.
FROM TIME TO TIME WE JUST DON'T KNOW,
WHAT IS MEANT BY COLD WET SNOW.
JUST FOR KICKS HE LIKES TO TAKE DOWN TREES,
BY FREEZING RAIN AND ASSERTING A BREEZE.
NEVER, NEVER, CALL OLD MAN WINTER A *****.
YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF, OFF THE ROAD IN A DITCH.

Old Man Winter and the Maple Tree Work On Their Relationship

"You will surrender all your leaves or anger us again and feel our deadly freezing
rain upon your defiant flaming colours, your golden tatters flying helpless before
the slashing fingers of my winds!

All this temporary glory of yours will be trampled into the discouraged ground
while our triumphant crystalline voices breathe slogans into the sky which you
will never read!

Where we rule, nothing moves without our permission and our will is a howling
sub-zero wind in an eternal night.

Withdraw therefore strategically below the surface, close your frosted yes while
my tender, white, blanketing snow fills the nests of the panicked and escaping
birds, and a quiet multitude of creatures burrow among your powerful roots.

Further south, the constant warmth and feverish competition would only exhaust
you - nature down there is much too unruly and rebellious. You wouldn't like it,
believe me.

Hey, Maple Tree, never mind - you can always 'leave' in the spring. Haw. Haw."

Winter’s chill is in the air, a frosty gasp
washing twilight in gentle, glistening songs
breathless dreams hesitate, rising from God’s grasp

hopeful hearts reach out, knowing their love belongs
wintery tongues tell their lies in glowing rhymes
washing twilight in gentle, glistening songs

each life is filled with blessings in pleasant times
I sincerely believe in His blazing fire
wintery tongues tell their lies in glowing rhymes

His love is taking me higher and higher
without Him, I’d be baffled by the wild storms
I sincerely believe in His blazing fire

because of this awesome love, who always warms
I keep praising the One who died on that cross
without Him, I’d be baffled by the wild storms

this love and grace I attempt to get across
Winter’s chill is in the air, a frosty gasp
I keep praising the One who died on that cross
breathless dreams hesitate, rising from God’s grasp

Premium Member Old Man Winter Snuck Up On Me

OLD MAN WINTER
SNUCK UP ON ME.
I REALIZED THIS
WHEN I SAW MY TREE.

NO LEAVES ON THE TREE
POOR TREE WAS BARE
WINTERS FROST
WAS IN THE AIR.

THE CLOUDS WERE GRAY.
THE TEMPS WERE LOW.
WINTER'S WINDS
WERE STARTING TO BLOW

THE DAYS WERE SHORT
THE NIGHTS WERE LONG.
A WARM FIREPLACE
IS WHERE I BELONG.

THE SNOW WILL FALL
WITHOUT A SOUND,
GENTLY LANDING
TILL IT BLANKETS THE GROUND.

I'LL WAIT FOR SPRING
SHE'LL BE HERE SOON.
LONGER DAYS AND
THE FLOWERS WILL BLOOM.

OLD MAN WINTER
DESERVES SOME TIME.
TILL SPRING RETURNS
WITH WARM SUNSHINE.

OLD MAN WINTER ,
WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW ,
WINTER REIGNS ,
   AS LONG AS IT SNOWS.

SPRING HASN'T SPRUNG ,
   BECAUSE OF HARSH WINTER WEATHER.
SHE'S ROLLING YOUR EYES
   AND SAYING " WHAT EVER."

SUMMER WAS LAUGHING ,
AND SUGGEST SPRING EAT A CHILLI.
SPRING INTO ACTION AND
   STOP BEING SILLY.

AUTUMN'S CONTENT
SHE WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW.
SHE ENJOYS BOTH ,
   THE HEAT AND THE COLD.

I OPENED A DOOR,
TO WIND AND SNOW
OLD MAN WINTER
AND TEMPS 20 BELOW.
TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE,
WAS INCREDIBLE THRILL.
TO HEAR HIM SPEAK,
JUST GAVE ME THE CHILLS.
I WAS OFFERED A WINE,
DERIVED FROM RICE.
OLD MAN WINTER
HAD A BOURBON WITH ICE.
OLD MAN WINTER
HAS A REALLY TOUGH ROLE.
HIS EARTHLY HOME,
IS BLOW THE SOUTH POLE.
OLD MAN WINTER
IS IMPORTANT TO ALL.
HE CONDUCTS BUSINESS,
AFTER THE FALL.
HE READIES THE GROUNDS,
FOR THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING.
AND ALL THE WONDERFUL,
THINGS SHE BRINGS.
SUMMER WILL FINISH,
WHAT SPRING HAS SPRUNG.
FALL WILL HARVEST,
AND THE CYCLE IS DONE.
I BEGAN FEELING COMFY,
IN THIS PALACE OF ICE.
I POURED SOME MORE WINE,
DERIVED FROM RICE.
I LISTENED TO OLD MAN,
WINTERS SPEECH,
AND HOW IMPORTANT
IT IS TO TEACH.
IT IS ESSENTIAL,
TO UNDERSTAND,
OUR ROLE ON EARTH,
AS MODERN MAN.
I ENJOYED HIS LECTURE,
ON THE CYCLE OF LIFE.
AS I FINISHED MY WINE,
DERIVED FROM RICE.
IT WAS TIME TO MOVE ON,
IT WAS TRULY A PLEASURE.
I APPRECIATE WINTER,
AND ALL TYPES OF WEATHER.

Welcome Old Man Winter

In towns east to west across so many nations
From hills to valleys and the higher elevations
Old man winter has paid his yearly visit to town
Bone chilling temperatures dipping way down
As he's announcing his arrival in late December
This one the coldest one many can remember
People all prepare for his next three month stay
He was right on time this year for his first day
December twenty first at the stroke of midnight
Snow flakes fell like confetti in soft moonlight
Blanketing many acres of land at a steady pace
Sure that he covered every inch of the surface
With the calm, gentle wind whistling to say hello
To anybody who can hear it from down below
In the morning residents will look outside when
All know old man winter is visiting town again
