Best Off The Top Of My Head Poems
Many people have kindly said
my writings must be read.
Most can tell from the very start
that my renderings are directly from the heart.
They say I write of beauty and love
as if my hands were kissed by a dove.
They say my soulful song is one you must hear
knowing it will often cause one to shed a tear.
Some have asked why not take the time
to put your words in meter and Rhyme.
I say the stirring echoes of my rambling expression
often stands naked in the face of poetic compression.
Dear Soupers I not only thank you all for reading my poems,
but for giving my once solitary voice the very best of all homes.
Soupers this one was right off the top of my head which is very unlike me.
Well, aren’t you a sight for sore EYES
Off the top of my HEAD its been nearly two years
Yes ,I have been keeping busy
A FINGER in every pie that’s me
It has been a bit of a struggle
I did put my NECK on the line
Many times I cried my HEART out
Then would dust myself off and say “ok girl CHIN up”
And FACE the music
Yes we were away for a while
We had really itchy FEET
Though we were BACK before we knew it
I've kept an EAR out to see if anyone had heard from you
I did hear you started your own confectionary business
You’ve always had a sweet TOOTH
It’s on… “Now what’s the name of that street “?
It’s on the tip of my TONGUE….
It is something like KNEE
Kneetson No Kneedham thats it!
You’ll have a lot of ELBOW room there
If you ever need help
I can always lend a HAND
Oh ,you heard about that incident did you
She really put her FOOT in it this time
She has a such CHEEK
I told her to get off my BACK
To stop looking down her NOSE at me
I’ve always been upfront with her
Worn my HEART on my sleeve
Though getting the truth from her
Is like pulling TEETH
She is a royal pain in the NECK
I ARMED myself for the next encounter
My HEART was in my MOUTH
To be honest I got cold FEET
Best I keep her at ARMS length
So last time I saw her ,I said
I hope you are all EARS
I need to get something off my CHEST
I politely wished her good luck
Told her to break a LEG
And kiss my ****!!
(A Body Idiom Poem)
Now is the time
to sit down and rhythm.
Sorry folks!
I guess that's it
No more wit!
This was written just on the spur of the moment and off the top of my head.

Off the top of my head
Sitting here in bed
What should I write
Seems to be my plight
In my room all warm and cozy
My cheeks all red and rosy
While outside is all cold and blustery
Oh look my dog is all soggy
Well that was fun
And that is no pun
i am only as good as the material i write
i only reflect on the wrongs and the rights
the ills of society the world as a whole
my chance to make a change
and achieve my goals
since poetry is a passion i love it to death
it's not for the fame nor is it 4 wealth
it's 4 my personal satisfaction 4 the world 2 enjoy
2 get things off my chest 2 play with like a toy
as i get better with time every line so intense
with every line that i write leaves you deeper in suspense
each day is something new off the top of my head
simply brilliant is the content of the poems u have read
this is freestyle poetry at least that's what i call it
my own style with a twist stayin true 2 my calling
the way i play with words i must say is so tight
so 2 all a good day and the happiest of nights
I just wrote this off the top of my head
*proceed with caution*
5-0:
Put your hands up and step away from the electronics. (In 5-0 voice)
*radio into dispatch*
We found him....Sir put your hands up and step away.
*eyeballs room*
(sees electronic crap everywhere)
*Man gets puts hands up stands slowly*
Man says:
'Officer what is going on,, I've done nothing wrong, I haven't even left in days. I know how this looks but, none of this is stolen.....'
5-0:
'Sir, we now have robotic K-9 units and one of the officers accidentally let one out. Our systems were down for a couple days so the GPS couldn't pinpoint it.'
Man says:
'I wondered why he didn't eat or have to use the bathroom. I thought I found the perfect dog. But, why did he come to my house? '
5-0:
'Well sir they program them to fetch the paper and....
*looks out window, yards covered in newspapers*
Sees how you have a ton of them he probably just went by protocal and was trying to fulfill his duty. Did you not notice his collar?'
Man says:
'I thought his name was sonny and it was misprinted.'
5-0:
'Well just glad we found him, let's go Sony'.
*Dog makes no movement, after several attempts, officer radios in that the unit is unresponsive*
5-0:
'Looks like he's just a pile of scrap metal now it's all yours to keep, sorry about all this! '
*gets in car, leaves*
Man says:
'Sony fetch!'
*Dog runs and fetches paper*
Man says:
'Good boy that stupid officer, all these electronics and he didn't think I would know the difference between a dog and a robot dog Haha let alone know how to re-program you to respond to my voice command dam fool's!'
* well played my friends, well played...*
Off the top of my head
and in a blink of an eye,
wanted to write a poem
that was on the tip of my tongue,
Meantime was having a brain fart
and pulling my hair out,
didn't want to sound cheeky
or put my foot in my mouth,
So bought "Poetry for Dummies"
which cost an arm and a leg,
and wanted to foot the entire bill,
while dining out with some friends,
One friend said I paid through the nose,
while another was lecturing an earful,
another's comments raised eyebrows,
said I shoulder it and be more responsible,
I thought they used to be so hip,
as I sat with butterflies in my stomach,
I thought of wringing their necks,
or telling them to button their lips,
So I told them to stop stepping on my toes,
that I always kept abreast of my money,
then realizing I'd forgotten my wallet,
ended up feeling just like a donkey.
I OPENED A DOOR
NOT SURE WHERE I AM.
OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD
I WOULD SAY TROPICAL LAND.
RAIN FOREST MAYBE.
IT'S HUMID AND HOT.
IT'S A LONG LOOK UP
TO THE SOARING TREE TOPS.
LOT'S OF STRANGE SOUNDS
ABOVE AND BELOW.
SOME ARE FAMILIAR
MOST I DON'T KNOW.
I LISTEN AND VIEW
IN EVERY DIRECTION.
I TAKE IN THE COLORS
AND MANY REFLECTIONS.
I SAW SOMETHING LEAP.
I THOUGHT IT WOULD FLY.
IT WASN'T A BIRD
IT'S A FROG IN THE SKY.
THAT WAS AMAZING.
AT LEAST FIFTY FOOT FLIGHT.
JUST MY OPINION
A THRILL AND DELIGHT.
I SPOTTED SOMETHING
IT'S GREEN LIKE THE LEAVES.
WHAT I SAW NEXT
WAS HARD TO BELIEVE.
A FROG TOOK A LEAP
A SNAKE TOOK A DIVE.
SNATCHED HIS DINNER
I SAW IT LIVE
EMERALD TREE BOA
A BEAUTIFUL GREEN.
THE NOCTURNAL CREATURE
BLENDS INTO THE SCENE
RAINFOREST BEE'S
WERE BUZZING AROUND.
A YOUNG SPIDER MONKEY
WAS AT PLAY ON THE GROUND
BLUE MORPHO BUTTERFLY
FLUTTERING FREE.
ENJOYING LIFE
AS IT SHOULD BE.
A SCARLET MACAW
MADE A DEBUT.
OR SHALL I SAY
WAS JUST PASSING THROUGH
RAINFOREST CREATURES
ABOVE AND BELOW
SOME ARE FAMILIAR
MOST I DON'T KNOW.

She says I am a liar
She thinks I am a player
That in her life I will make a Messi (mess)
Like I am really a complete player
So when I am talking
The way she looks at me
Her right palm on her cheek
The elbow resting on her thigh
Her big lovely eyes never blink
Looking straight into my eyes
Feeling her gaze in my mind
Deciphering truth from a lie
Then she twitches my forehead
When she thinks something is amiss
Just for me to repeat myself
Then I twitch hers too- to use her brain
She slaps me off the top of my head
And twitch me thrice in row
She will burst out of the house
I know, she does not want to murder me
She is prettier when she is mad
Punching and kicking the punch bag outside
She is the funniest creature in this world
And she is really a joy of my life
What's up with all this hatred in the world?
Off the top of my head I can name at least three people that could always see the "big
picture."
Dr.King used his knowledge and his speaking abilities to persuade people to become one.
Rosa Parks endured hardship just 'cause she sat in the front of the bus.
Malcolm X preached with authority and truancy.
Oops, I guess I can name four 'cause Michael loved the trees.
I'm not talking about the basketball star but the one who I always pray to before I dance.
I feel like I owe something to them but I always screw up.
I can make anything happen in my head but when it comes to words, It's better to let
Motormouth say the words in a two second story.
Why is it that no one kid WANTS to remember these names?
They were key players in this world in trying to make the world a better place.
"Yes we can" is what Obama said but are our hearts content?
We still do the idiotic things we did before but at least we don't have Bush to encourage
our rage.
CURSED
A Poem by Debbie_Philly
Cursed
Night pitch as the raven full moon rising as the earth
dances like nymphs delighted by the summer solstice.
Heat of the night glistening off satin skin a need to feast
blood flowing through veins like a crimson river.
Flames burn unquenchable a constant thirst frenzied
mad and untamable until he has had his banquet.
Feeding upon the souls of the damned forever searching.
Night by night with diminished vision clouding the view.
Forever searching bound by the curse living yet stagnate
for all eternity.

Just something off the top of my head while watching a corny B Movie
Our old clothes are stained rags,
Filled with holes, torn from snags,
Hung from bones since we were born,
Totally tattered and overly worn
But a new wardrobe has been bought,
Paid for with blood—that of the Begot,
Hung from a cross all beaten and bruised
To give us the following, each garment new:
Patience is our pants (both start with letter P)
Our shirt? Think sober of self, a.k.a. humility
Walk in forgiveness (how else shall bitterness lose?)
—Makes sense that it's our socks and shoes
A kindness coat gives an impression that lingers
Mercy and meekness: mittens for fidgeting fingers
I made these pairings, most off the top of my head,
But God stitched them with love, a most powerful thread
She wished to be
A poet of renown,
Wrote all of her poetry,
Standing up-side-down.
Of course, because of this,
No one read it,
The King demanded
She be beheaded.

A Poet Who Loves To Sing
(mind at play 10:31 p.m. sharp_
just off the top of my head
To come up with poetry
Off the top of my head
Is my gift to you
From the poems you have read
Just random thoughts that go
through my head
Hoping to uplift and inspire with
these words that are said
I live life it doesn't live me
So i cherish the second chance that
was given to me
Though life is a gift for some it's a
charge but even in doubt i keep going
hard
Through these words i breathe life
And paint pictures for most for all to
enjoy no matter what coast
Since we live in the last days
Knowing the end is so close
