One Souper's Simple Rhyme

Many people have kindly said
my writings must be read.

Most can tell from the very start
that my renderings are directly from the heart.

They say I write of beauty and love
as if my hands were kissed by a dove.

They say my soulful song is one you must hear
knowing it will often cause one to shed a tear.

Some have asked why not take the time
to put your words in meter and Rhyme.

I say the stirring echoes of my rambling expression
often stands naked in the face of poetic compression.

Dear Soupers I not only thank you all for reading my poems,
but for giving my once solitary voice the very best of all homes.

Soupers this one was right off the top of my head which is very unlike me.

I say the stirring echoes of my rambling expression often stands naked in the face of poetic compression", very very true Kim. This is my opinion too. I feel that the technicalities cannot compress the beauty of the flow of thoughts and emotions... Hats off to your lines :)

Thanks again Swetha! I always say you have to write it how you feel it. In addition, the English language often breaks in many directions with attempts to command it to a form.

And well done as well. I find myself going more for free verse these days than rhyme...I'm stuck on it now. Enjoyed your contest!

Thank You for submitting your poem it was a very interesting read. Well folks up here were beginning to wonder if I could do a rhyme. I can do this and I can write in meter, but I prefer not to do either. Rhymes are too often sing song sounding to my ear and meter, in my opinion, is creatively constipating to me. thank You Kim
