Great Sullen Wind

A breeze that once lay cool in morn,
is face of death as dark was born.
On pebbled beach and under guise,
from sea to shore destroyed broad wise.

Great sullen wind awoke this night
and made old oak tree tremble fright.
Though might in years, he stood and shook
for death wind sought and life it took.

In churches huddled in the mass
we prayed the Lord would let it pass
and so He did and had it done
so weathered storms would see the sun.

When death came, I declared that I could not leave soon
For I had not seen the summer flowers in bloom

Starting them from just a seed back when there was still snow.. white
As they began maturing, I could tell each one on sight

Just large enough to be transplanted that spring day
The blooms were visible in thought only, in May

The angel came in early morn to take me by the hand
I bid him let me stay because my life was just sand

Now I have a new responsibility here
Down where the flowers bloom and to me are so dear

Life is not just about the house, washing the dishes clean
It's about love, our fellowman; only a few I've seen

Thank you death angel for letting me stay that day
I'll give this life that I've got left the best day's pay

Spring, Is She the One?

I stand beside a silver bed
Of ice and ask still why?
My heart filled with remorse and loss
While watching winter die.

The snow white fingers in my hand
That bear the scars of war,
I feel the life drain from their grasp
Why will you live no more?

The crystals on the trees are gone
Your mirrors shattered through,
The wind and storms have lost their soul
Now death has come for you.

Your silver blood lay spilled like rain
Each stream and river filled,
Who cut this wound into your heart
Who bears this murders guilt.

Your breath comes without dying words
Your grave a silent gate,
The fertile ground an iron wall
I cannot penetrate.

Farewell, the word I cannot say
The question still remains,
Who stabbed the knife into your flesh
Who caused your death in pain.

Each day passes with its emptiness
That lingers slow and grey,
Yet change I feel upon each dawn
Of something on its way

I hear a voice within the night
That whispers like the breeze,
The moon a sickle in the sky
Strange fragrance in the trees.

Then on one morning's golden edge
I saw a figure stand,
A slender woman clothed in green
A dagger in her hand.

She strode with beauty and with pride
Yet in her footprints lay,
Small drops of silver tinted blood
Upon the ground of May.

I saw a fire in her eyes
And youth within her breath,
And asked the question in my soul
Did she cause winter's death?

Is she the one, the murderer
has melted all the snow?
Is she the one that held the knife
And gave the vital blow?

I stand beside a silver grave
Of stone, your life is gone,
Yet knowing, still I ask again
Is spring, is she the one?

Loco Weed

It is crazy, it is loco, just like the name
On ranches in the Southwest, it will grow
It is a poison, a narcotic, will drive animals insane
Once they have eaten it for a short period of time, never the same
It will ill them, but death comes slow
Has the very same affect as heroin and cocaine

Looks like alfalfa, pretty, sweet and green
Grows in the winter, when grass is straw like and dead
They are forever pulled to it, like a magnet force
To them it is like sweet candy, very high in protein
But in a matter of time, will take them to their death bed
From a deer to an antelope, to a cow and a horse

It is easy to tell when one is on he weed, by the things that they do
They will get thin, won't eat anything else, get upset fast
Like a worm in a apple, that is what it does to their brain
They are in a storm of their own and do not have a clue
It is one that they will never get past
Like drugs, everything to lose and nothing to gain

The seed will lay in the ground for ninety nine years of more
They have tried to eradicate it, the next year it will be back
They chop and burn it, but still there is the seed
For the rancher it is a losing battle and a lopsided score
The more they fight, the less that they win
So they just try to live with the damn old LOCO WEED

Anniversary of Flirtation

Imitating the waves,
I try to end the attachment
touching the shores,
then moving away.
Search for eternity erases
the designs. Birth
and death cling together.
I let go the passion,
the deviation of fear.
There cannot be two lives.

When the illusion meets
the pain, truth laughs,
I forego my future,
tear the past and burn the present.
Failed life hangs on
the silence of sorrow.
Names don’t hold any charm
they come & go. Days
drop like long coats
I search the night.

The desperate seeking
will not end the journey
It is there in the dark hole of the heart.
A pitless gloom.
I am afraid to be revealed.
Art of life is scissored,
Anniversary of flirtation
with death forgotten. We celebrate.

SATISH VERMA

I Never Saw a Tree

I never saw a tree
To shed a tear of despair
Nor one to whisper into the night
Never once to speak unto a crowd
Of the many deceptions of government.
~
   I never saw a tree
To put the wisdom of hatred in the air
To turn a man against a man
Nor remove a punished man's dream
A fallen child of society.
~
   I never saw a tree
To question the right within the wrong
As Man expands the grasp
To flatten the brethren woods
The intoxicating death through greed.
~
And once, I saw a tree
Standing in the flames
Watching as our nation burned
Slowly from within
The deception within the lies.
~
   I never saw a tree
To wipe a nation clean
Sending humans to the grave
Extinguishing a source of life
A tree would need to breathe.
~
   I never saw a tree
Whispering unto a child
Lies
To fill a mind with forced illusion
Governmental hypocrisy.
~
   I never saw a tree
To charge me for the view
Nor to spread the false laced truths
To keep a people weak
Nor exalt itself unto another tree.
~
And once, I saw a tree
Swayed by Autumn breeze
It shared with me the importance of life
The reason to torch the lie
As death became the leaves,
  As death became the leaves.

Natures Death

The trees are shades of yellow
The leaves are a frightening red
And now the leaves are falling off,
This means nature’s dead
The autumn leaves succumb
To winters icy breath
Now the flowers are all gone
For this is natures death
Before the winter packs to go
She returns the leaves
Green and new
And she takes back her frozen snow
Spring and summer come to pass
Once more the birds all
Fly away
Right before winter, comes to stay
All the flowers, trees, and grass
Know their lives have once more
Come to pass
And once more winters icy breath
Spells our misery
And
This natures death
I was always taught that death is sad
I was always taught that death was bad
So why is the death of nature the most beautiful death
Because in the end
You know this death will come again
But before death there is always life
And this is why winter is the
Most breath taking sight
