Best Minimalist Poems
Hanging to his dwindling sanity
he haphazardly weaves a net
of confused and conflicting emotions.
Weakened by pangs of futility
the strained fine thread snaps...

joyful laughter fills the air.

Lyrics absorbed in bitter tears;
leaves fallen like early autumn.
Gods mourn as darkness falls,
enveloping around an oak tree
the sage always meditated under.

Contest Name: MINIMALIST FORM
Contest Theme: Minimalist - SONG OF DESPAIR
(fromThe John Poems)
Then I loved you
Now I don’t
Once I would
Now I won’t
You were here
Now you’re gone
No one left
To mow my lawn
Lock’s been changed
Key’s been hid
Phone’s unplugged
Heart’s up for bid
You were mine
Now you’re hers
On your head
I place a curse
I AM A MINIMALIST
I DO LITTLE
INTENTIONALLY
I MAKE THE MOST
MINIMAL STATEMENTS
ABOUT SIMPLE
AND/OR
COMPLEX CONCEPTS
THAT ARE ON
THE CUTTING EDGE OF
NOTHINGNESS
AND/OR EVERYTHINGNESS
DEPENDING ON WHICH SIDE
OF THE WORLD
YOU STAND ON
I APPROACH MY WORK
THROUGH
EITHER ADDITION
AND/OR SUBTRACTION
IN LITTLE STEPS
GOING BACK
AND FORTH
ON BOTH SIDES
OF THE LIMITS
OF THE OUTER RANGE OF
POSSIBILITIES IN THE WORLD
UNTIL THE WORK
FINDS PERFECTION
AND A BALANCE OF NOTHINGNESS
AND EVERYTHINGNESS
IN ME AND
MY WORLD
BUT SAYS ALL
NOTHING IS ACCEPTABLE
NOTHING IS SORT
Minimal, precise and direct
neat, sweet conceptions settle
upon a large white s p a c e
plywood windows dusty streets faded graffiti
Labyrinthine mind jams along mazes
Searching restlessly for inner fortitude;
Till amaranth weeds point eastward--
Reams clearing passage through sunrise
To unveil enlightenment—an epiphany!

Go toss your fetchings to the curb.
Your possessions have you tardy.
You'll thank the blessings for this cause
to keep you from this lardy.
To minimize your things of pleasure.
The stuff put under dust.
To save you time from being a slave
whatever cost you must.
To gradually ween you from it all.
It slow to feel you numb.
To seperate you being attached
and leave you to your sum.
The very thing you want in life.
Control where none was there.
The understanding there is more
and stand for seeding wear.
Rewards that come replacing things
to fill your heart with trust.
With life changed to reflecting thee
when knowledge comes to must.
wherever
we go
there
will be
decay and
absence
for the
moment
we absorb
and learn
stillness
become
silent
listen
silently
silently
becoming
Majestic prancing encompassing the marsh
Holding hands, proudly singing gay
Our love exaggerating every moment
Our muse illuminating into aglow
Forth into the White Night

a melody brings not hope,
nor does it bring peace-
for anguish is an aria
of lyrics that cease love-
sing me an encore….tonight.

Riviera Night (my own title)
Your kisses were smoother than
the leather of the seat
on which we sat embracing.
I pray our last night
lingers in your memory too.
