"Christmas Dinner Fiasco"
on Christmas Eve, family gathered for "Feast of Seven Fishes"
an old Italian tradition while wrapping gifts with expectant wishes
hubby decided to play Chef Boyardee
complete with hat and apron, a fun sight to see
the kitty cats circled dinner table to pounce
licking their whiskers, smelling each tasty ounce.
pumpkin bread baking and homemade apple pie
whipped cream and hot fudge enjoyed with warm sigh
candied sweet potatoes with buttered rolls and biscuits
diet food hidden away like melba toast and triscuits
aromas so yummy the puppies were squealing
soon there was a stampede, sent the kitchen Chef reeling.
tree trimming time once dinner was finished
spirits running high with no chance to diminish
all seated to say grace before this marvelous meal
with colorful palette' and great appetite appeal
underneath the table came growling and gnashing
as felines and canines, over dripping crumbs, were clashing.
the Chef lost his temper and scooted pets to the yard
from inside the hacienda those onry pets were barred
but the doggie door was unlocked so began the invasion
pets on parade on a Christmas Eve occasion
the desserts lined the table like poetic pop art
creme puffs with rum and rice cakes a la carte'.
coffees were carried next to Christmas tree
tinsel and garland with musical lights mystery
but Cali the cat had his own idea of fun
'twas entangled in garland with paws in a bun
and Gabby had stolen a piece of creme puff
his black face was white as snowflake soft fluff.
the Danes sniffed out chew sticks from their stockings
as Raider and Golden ran round the tree in flocking
and sweet little Venus was as good as a dream
enjoying her peaches as she swirled in whipped cream
Christmas dinner fiasco provided laughs with love
as we sang "Deck the Halls' to the good Lord above.

THE PERFECT WOMAN
What does a perfect woman mean?
Does it mean something that meets your standards?
A standard measured by physical appearance
or from within towards one's heart and soul?
Perfect is just a label
A label to define what you like in a woman
A woman whom you want to be with for the rest of your life
A life that will make you feel satisfied.
What is a perfect woman for me?
The perfect woman is a woman who is beautiful inside and out
Not only in the sight of those around us
But in the sight of GOD

Explanation
Joseph Beuys is a controversial artist, one of his
works is called 'food for thought'. I saw this at
the museum of psychiatry when I guided some folks;
theme of the exposition was "lost in memory".
Next to the museum is the garden where 3 of my
sculptural works can be visited. We did so.

coming out enchanting
a harp playing
bewitching music
from an irish sea
from the mist of hibernia
entering a cold mystical island
a lonely teddy bear out in an ocean
dressed in her forty shades of green
her lush finery
from the land of the leprechaun
king of the fairies
tales of a land of forever young in the fianna
magical blossoms shades her beauty

arising from the land
of eternal winter

inhabitated by a bunch
of wild savages
who feast on the flesh
of their dead fathers
despite the cold
the grazing was so tasty
very lush sweet
that cattle exploded fat

Aperitifs and hard spirits,
With canapes and rarebits.
Delicious hors de ouvres,
Accompanied by tangy dips.
Tomato soup with crouton,
And an entree of mouton;
My strawberry red sorbet:
Makes way for my releve.
Bring on the roast,
Not with melba toast;
Poor lentils of course, are the ones hated most.
Don't forget legumes, are vegetables of course!
The entremets the sweetest,of the entire course.
This cafe's hot coffee, makes me feel not to snore,
I've got to the finish sipping Bailey's liqueur.

My Joy
There is a woman crafted in the furnace of God’s eternal fire,
And for millennia, God has waited for her arrival,
For she was to train two sons who would live for his glory,
And she lived a life of suffering such that she might empathize with their struggles,
And though she made many mistakes,
She has been my truth, my wisdom, and my light,
Often reminding me of realities that I would rather ignore,
She has raged against the rager on my behalf,
And when satan had agripped me, she rose up against him and said, “NO!”
For there was a time when I writhed in darkness,
And only she understood,
With an understanding that stemmed from the cosmos,
From the cosmic tree of life, she fed me fruit,
And I survived,
And I tell you, I see her future,
I see her standing in glory with Mother Mary before her,
And I know Joy,
Her name is Melba Lucas, she is my Divine Light, and it is from her womb that I know my
beginning,
She is my strength when I am weak,
She is my courage, when I might cower,
For she walks in the eternal alpha and omega,
And there will come a time when she no longer walks the earth,
But not until her work is done,
And when that day comes, I will not sorrow, but I will rather rejoice for heaven’s gain,
For in times when clouds would obscure the brightest sun,
She is my Joy.

On giving up heroin
and all night long I danced with the crooked hand of death
and the crooked hand of death danced with me back,
one, two, three times a day, I took the meds and sweated blood
then after a million years in a tunnel (not the tunnel of love)
I learnt to dance a new jig… with new feet and a good body
and a clear mind
now I am a new citizen with a new coat and a new soul (my own)
and a feeling good job
and the rain comes with the sun and the brilliance of the countryside
makes me tingle
but this time not in the vein in my arm but in the free spirit
inside of me
and inside of them
and inside of cornfields
and deep, warm rivers and creeks
and I’m free now ,my pockets full of crisp notes
(and poetry) with a howdee doo dee apple pie
good morning to you, under a sweet rehab
peach melba sky!

Yo, I say yo,
Don’t go until you here this,
This bliss, don’t dismiss, my message,
I know 8 mc’s, 7 in physical form, one in spiritual essence,
We got presence,
It all started, with the Jerry G Lucas,
And then Lucas Jr.
He will school ya,
And Melba, the compassionate,
Castin’ it aside, all notions of herself,
In a symphony of sacrifice,
And then there’s me the poet scholar,
I wear a colla,
Of slayin’ beasts of hatred,
But I’m elated,
Because I found ha,
The christocentric, Madonna,
Who set my world on fire,
She’s no lia,
She claims the desire,
Of minions of millions of men,
Who envy my wisdom,
In choosin’ this venus,
Who gave birth to the child of light,
I mean a warrior of right,
Autumn, the season of joy,
And with little Woodrow, we make seven,
We going to heaven,
And leadin’ the world there,
Gerald G Junior, He’ll school ya,
With business elasticity,
And he’ll help you see,
The light of common urgency,
The magnificent 7, and with Christ we make 8,
The numba of new beginnin’s
Sending, minions, to lendin’ love, and covetin’ kindness,
Can you rhyme this,
It all started with the patriarch,
He had no fatha,
But with his iron will,
He became the transcendent,
You can’t bend it,
His fist of fury,
With methodical precision,
He makes ya listen,
And can you understand, this man, of the ages?
Maybe so, maybe not,
But can’t no one stop us,
Cause we a clan,
Of the all mighty,
Shine bright we,
Will change the face of Arrakis,
Amen.

As I reflect on my past and remember things that happened over the years
I often stop and think about the problems I caused. I can still see her tears.
My mother accepted a child, whose parents had left her for dead.
I couldn't understand. Why couldn't she have given birth instead?
The love I felt for my mother most will never even know.
I was blinded by a wall i had built. My feelings could never show.
Now that my mother s with you I've learned to accept a few things
With Jesus now in my heart I can see what true happiness means.
Though I can never go back and change those things i put you through for some reason God still loves me and some day I will be with you.
To those who know me now you have seen a change in me.
Do you know someone today who is just as lost as me?
Please go to that person now. Don't wait even one more day. Don't worry about a single thing.. God will tell you what to say.
As this poem comes to an end I hope some day you will find
Yes at times I can be a real pain. Yet there are those who know me as being simply kind.
I asked Jesus to come into my heart. He could change me in every way.
I guess that's what my mother always knew and wanted to say.
In loving memory of my mother, Melba Dean

Monster Trees
Monster trees reaching down through insane skies like spiders,
They see something coming in the green benign stretches,
We are the onion ring bearers wearing dark-day secrets.
We know what happens when bearded eyes shut tight,
When the dead wave from hearses designed for blind drivers,
As the hatchet girls crawl into the blast barges of mindless ropery,
Monster trees with long tentacled arms scoop up the night cats.
They reach for berries made of balsa wood and Melba toast;
They reach down from far distances seizing innocent souls crawling,
These ghost trees, floating as life clouds, through memory and time;
Through deserted forgotten neighborhoods with skeleton trellises.
We are the lettuce turners, the meat shredders, with raised hopeful fists.
Wearing chiffon camisoles made with Melba toast and dark-day secrets,
The hatchet girls raise lapping glasses of mad rum to the blast barges.
