Please love yourself,
My daughter wrote
As we chatted away
About my upcoming trip
And yet my tears spilled over
As I bared my heart
To my 19 year old daughter
The joy of my life
The light of my eyes
The reason…..
The reason I go on with life
It’s for her
I try to survive
And push on
For she still needs me
And she wrote…..
You need to appreciate yourself more mami
I can't imagine my life without you
Just thinking about my life without you in it
just makes me wanna break down
Please mama for me
Please love yourself
I dunno why it's so hard for you to see how incredible you are
She knew all my reasons
And yet she asked
Desperate to pull me out
To help me see the light
To remind me of who I was
Who I still am
And I soothed and comforted her
Knowing she’d worry
Her daddy away
And her Mama all alone
Locked in her room
Crying the night away
Yet she was the strong one
Mothering me
Giving me
A shoulder to cry on
And after all the tears those words of hers brought
I thanked her for loving me…..
And she wrote
I can't help it. You're amazing. You just need to give yourself a chance
Come here mami we'll have so much fun
And I smiled through my tears
Grateful for the blessing I have in her
And my heart decided
Once more
Once more
For a little while longer
To fight the good fight
To survive
To let the vivacious Mommy she knew
Come to life
The one all her friends loved
And said was “so cool”
That Mommy
That woman
I'd ask her to go on
And to try...
To try...
To love herself...

This my advice to self.
Stop lying to yourself.
The smiles betray the hurt that runs to deep.
You need to stand tall .
Stop becoming bitter even if its what your name means.
Always love, make it your motto.
Let this hatred of self-doubt and self direct lies disappear.
Because the hate will get you every time.
Always love yourself.
How can you tell this to everyone but yourself.
Loosen up and dance, feel the summer’s breeze.
God will forgive you if you let go.
Remember you dreams because they have died in your cave of reality, of every day.
Stop suffocating your spirit.
Let it run free with your dreams and believe.
Time won’t stand still for you.
We may always be destined to remember but never can we always go back and change time.
Step forward and give yourself room to sometimes fail.
Life is about mistakes and despair, otherwise how will you ever learn.
Be an example not an exception.
If you stop hurting yourself with this doubt .
Then you can stop the hurt for your children..
They are your future.
You have to learn to hurt and get over it.
This is God’s blessing.
So You may be able to apprecatie what is giving to you.
Mary , why do you hide and hurt.
Have you forgotten the love that fills your life everyday.
It may not be money, a nice house or a car.
But it is a house full of laughter.
Hugs and kisses at night.
Gratitude for being a wonderful mother and wife.
You let this hatred of doubt become your greatest fear.
It’s evilness has slowly killed your courage.
Believe in your faith and remember this is all part of God’s grander plan.
Forgive yourself for not being able to resolve life’s problems.
Instead emerge full of strength that guides you to always love yourself.

For you really are unique.
Be positive in all you do,
Be gentle when you speak.
Push away the scary thoughts,
Replace with ones of pleasure.
Love yourself for who you are
For you really are a treasure.
Praise yourself when you can
For all the things you do,
For praise will lift the spirit
And love will shine on through.
Be supportive of yourself,
Reach out when you're in need,
For friends and family will all help
They want you to succeed.
Take care of your body,
Cherish your vitality,
Eat good food and exercise
To give you energy.

Love yourself, embrace
yourself. Don't you know
You're are a gift
from God. Do you know
your worth. You're
one of a kind, a genuine
masterpiece. You were
made for a purpose. You
are irreplaceable. You
have something within
like no other, a hidden
treasure, that makes
you special. Never put
yourself down. You're
worth more than you
know. To yourself be true
and remember to always
love you, and the love
within you will reflect
back to others will return
back to you.
Do that!
Just that!
Step out there and love yourself
Put yourself first
Once you get that down,
All the other things will fall into place
You can't heal someone else
If broken is your 'middle name'
The only way to make that work
Is by losing yourself
Saying goodbye to the 'true you'
The question will always remain..
Where do I fit in?

You know that feeling of loneliness
When you are in a crowd and all at once
You feel invisible
You try to ascertain where you fit in
Do you even belong in your circle of friends?
Are you just there to boost the numbers?
Did you ever belong in the 'in crowd?'
Why do you feel so disillusioned?
One thing you should never do
Is look for someone or something to complete you
You were never made to be the better half
Of someone else or something else
You should never strive to be the picture
Of someone's fantasy
Be the best you
Be the best complete you
And when you get to that point
All the parts that seem so out of place
Will be exactly where they are meant to be
So don't let the veneer of loneliness
Force you into a position
Where you look for company
Where you look for a place to belong
When all along "home" is
Where you love yourself...

The chain of clarity
before we can sustain any type of relationships in this life
we need to have the right relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus said that the first commandment is to love the Lord
and the second is to love thy neighbor with the same accord
but the problem is when it comes to love some African- americans don't have a clue
as a people of color we're dealing with racism and PTSS too
Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome has on my people taken a toll
as we don't know how to love nor how to achieve that goal
Black on Black crime occurs more than any other criminal stat
as it's about taught behavior and how to life we react
we were enslaved, we were degraded, we were never shown how to love
is it a wonder that as a people we have difficulty in rising above?
we need to reorientate our thinking about those things
that symbolize trouble and strife
to look past society's stereotypical words that have affected our lives
black ice, black cat, black magic, dark horse and of course black ball
just because we are Black we don't have to perpetrate
the self-hatred into which we're apt to fall
we need to love to love ourselves and not look for validation in designer garbs
we need to love to love ourselves and realize we're all images of God
we don't need to measure our worth in terms of what society deems
we're children of the Most High God and by the blood we've been redeemed
it was a Black man named Simon who assisted Jesus with His cross to Calvary
and a Black man named Barak Obama now holds the office of the USA Presidency
we need to learn to love ourselves just for who and what we are
just like the Lord God loved us from the very start
so let go of the rage, let go of the hate and let go of that age old grudge
forgive as Jesus forgave those who tormented Him and spilled His blood
no longer to be angry, no longer to be mad and no longer to feel rejected
moving forward in God's grace knowing that your're wanted, loved and respected
learn to love yourself and then your love for God
and your neighbor will come through
learn to love yourself with a positive mindset
and an outlook on life that's brand new

Don't estimate someone's strength
