A Reflection Upon A Long Life Lived
So many things in my life have come and gone
idle days of fishing and resting in shade
Early morn sight of mother deer and newborn fawn
so many of the sweet , dear friends made
Holidays with grandparents singing happy tunes
picnics lakeside in grove of red oak trees
Birthday parties cakes , ice cream and balloons
disappearing ships sailing upon unknown seas
Loves, far too many in my wild younger days
beautiful girls waiting for a kiss
So awesomely pretty in their hot sexy ways
so many more did I foolishly miss
Life flowed on like a flooded raging river
me with a ship and no winded sails
Too often selfish taker instead of loving giver
driving hammer without the much needed nails!

Truth in the telling. A wild life, mistakes galore , escapades on far too many shores!
Feet meander through their slow walks
on damp benches along the rotunda ...
an elderly pair grips the stem of their
parasol , inhaling the breath of dusky wisps,
as if the gray of their tresses
holds the seams of hours watching
this evening turn inky blue...
And when the fog releases tangy flavor,
the man closes his eyes with his palm...
and a single tear drips as night becomes
quiet-- in this instance, the wife points
to stars evanescing until they both
relish the glory of seasons owned
through decades crowning their long life.
MARCH 2017 PREMIER CONTEST: Brian Strand
Repost 3/17/2017
My chest keeps echoes no one hears,
what once was warm now sweeps as mist,
a weight unseen, too dense to lift.
Each crack leaves marks that melts
yet roots begin to breathe beneath the soil.
But where you bore, now empty lies,
a soul planted thin beneath the skies.
At early bright, I wear a stranger's smile.
At night, I drifts a lonely mile.
The roses died but the thorns still remain...
and the joy slipped out without a name.
I feel the yank to sink beneath,
to whisper words, my mouth won't speak.
My voice is dust, it melts to stone,
a quiet scream that dies alone.
You glimmer faint in twilight's haze,
a scar that kept from golden days.
I dream of us the way we were,
before the quiet did arise.
One truth remains through changing skies;
a trace of you that never dies.
No blade and no bleak could cut apart
the quiet thread that ties my heart.
Am I unmade or only veiled?
A gentle quiet where the glow feels lost,
no flare ignites and no I'll will takes carry.
Only a calm that meanders through the horizons.
Now rest plunges as starlight falls
a tender serene that softens all.
The spirit arise.
The tonnage gone.
The years melt their grip restrained.
The years vanish and the pain is gone
but something brighter lingers on.
In endless night,
the spirit glows-
a long life ends yet deeper grows.
He’s lived a long life;
Now his days are short.
So he's slowed down,
Yet, time flies by
Even faster.
David Fisher for Laconic Verse contest
Our life is a real drama
In such a colorful gamma.
Our life is just a moment,
Sometimes with a torment.
Just have enough patience
To keep good relations,
To love truly and forgive.
You won’t believe
But today I cried away.
Someone thought it was a shame,
Someone comforted, didn’t blame,
Someone said: life goes on,
Someone dies and some are born.
You only need desperately to repent,
With your heart to be in consent.
Make it a blessed event!
But it was not a simple lament.
Yes, the tears I couldn’t prevent.
The most intimate understood
Whom today we buried,
Whom today we have lost
And what is the life’s cost.
A month ago she was ninety five
But her eyes were always alive.
She was intellectual and clever,
No one could ever say she was old.
So many people her heart could hold.
Yes, she was only ninety five,
But even those who were twenty five
Came to her for advice.
Just to chat with her was so nice.
We did not dare to say “a crone”,
No one heard her moan.
We say: she had a long life road.
But is it enough to solve its code?
The war, the loss of her son…
Years and years were far from fun.
Thank God a daughter was bestowed.
Since then her life has mellowed.
But then a new grief – widowed.
At the funeral many words were said
Because she was truly loved
And in our souls she will never be dead.
It hurts to lose a true friend.
We’ll miss you dear on this land.
So, live in our memories and in the heavens,
Always young in the mind and in appearance!

Keep your eyes as red as Mars
Mouth orange as the setting Sun
Your body yellow as half moon
The mouth green as inmates
Let your passion be blue as sky
But wear indigo Magpie smiles
Without any violet character
To long life I cleave
To sound health I hold
Its been a short long journey
So far
Looking down the years
Of *unrival-able* favour
From the unrivalled God
In my trepidation
down the years
The devil had landed
Punches...
Alas I have a strength
And shield who knocks
The knock-out blow
The graciousness of God
Down the years
Words alone can't express
When the chicken-poxes
of darkness struck
Dotting my body
Top to bottom
Like the dotted lines
The Rapha *raphad*
Himself in my life
Returning me to a new baby
Its a high level
Of despicability
That we ignorantly
Ignore the graciousness
Of God
My voyage down the years
Both in calm and tempestuous
Seas...God has proved himself
To be the ruler of the universe
All the days of my existence
Your name shall be on my lips
Despite every gridlock
That the devil will attempt to place
On my way...
Cause I have the all sufficient one
Backing me up
I know the battle is won...
Not by power
Nor by might
Have I overcome all
But by the grace of God
For that I say
And will always say
Hallowed be thy name.
long life comes from the Path of Tao
it is the infinite depth of our own internal world
it is worldly harmony as one
exploring the realms of destiny, karma, and good
not a way out
but, a way through life's twists and turns
the beauty of Tao is that there is nothing to join
no vows to take, no rituals or clothing style
no reason to give up your own religion
and you can still improve your life ...

Lost and alone without my love
How can I live on without her?
Life is so empty and unfulfilled
I feel helpless without her
She was my rock and inspiration
Everything we did we did together
She gave me purpose and meaning
She deserved so much more in life!
But she knew well it was her that I lived for!
wu wei is the path of Tao
of going with the flow of nature
a metaphor of water
which adapts to any shape
always flowing
always yielding
soft, yet in time can cut
and shape rock
a lesson of Tao

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most
High,
who abides in the shadow of the All
Mighty,
will say to the Lord," My refuge and my
and my fortress;
my God in whom I trust."
For he will deliver you from the snare
of the fowler
and from deadly pestilence;
he will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find
refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and a buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow which flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at
noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand;
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord your
refuge,
the Most High your habitation,
no evil shall befall you,
no scourge near your tent.
For he will give his angels charge of you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
least you dash your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and on the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will
trample under foot.
Because he cleaves to me in love, I will
deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows
my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will rescue him and honor him;
With long life I will satisfy him,
and show him my salvation.

A long life has no elegy
Tears flood my eyes but they fail to flow
We counted a full life and pain is no more
What words can tears script on my face
Crying for myself is all that makes sense
If every day of our lives is God-made
Then God takes his favorites very late
Grandma found jokes under the weight of a long life
Talking about God was her only path to our minds
Saying goodbye will never ever be enough
A beauty with love
A beauty with obsession
A beauty with life
Lavender flowers
White, pink, purple, mauve also
Perfect bliss in mind
Deciduous vine
Symbolizing obsession
Add colours in our mind
With lightly scented
Bath in strong sunlight
With poisonous seed
True bliss of nature
Perfect ornamentation
A solace of mind
Stunner of nature
Enchanting to heavy eyes
Gift of our nature
Enjoy a long life the tortoise can,
But there is limit to its life span;
The winged snake rides high in the skies,
But it finally turns to dust when it dies;
Though in a stable an old steed is kept,
To gallop a thousand miles it does expect;
Although an ambitious man is in his old age,
He never abandons aspirations on the stage;
Man's span of life , whether long or short,
Depends not solely on Heaven’s support;
One who eats well and keeps cheerful,
Can naturally live to an old age wishful;
My heart is filled up with great joy,
And I chant this song to show my ploy.
