Decades of Long Life

Feet meander through their slow walks
on damp benches along the rotunda ...
an elderly pair grips the stem of their
parasol , inhaling the breath of dusky wisps,
as if the gray of their tresses
holds the seams of hours watching
this evening turn inky blue...

And when the fog releases tangy flavor,
the man closes his eyes with his palm...
and a single tear drips as night becomes
quiet-- in this instance, the wife points
to stars evanescing until they both
relish the glory of seasons owned
through decades crowning their long life.

Nice win to you Nette! I must say, I'm a bit drowsy at the moment so my review is clouded but I know it was a good read. I placed 3rd so I'm pleased as well! Congratulations Nette.

Nette, Nette. You write so deftly on the subject of love, passion, and nature. Somehow you combined all these in a subtle manner using a parasol as the central point of your poem.I don't mind growing old! You have a way with emotion!

I always get more glimpses of your soul with each poetry you write Very finely written and flows just brilliantly with a metaphors and symbols of love's age and the association with a parasol.Perfection!
