Best Little Darling Poems
Back in my mind a vision I see
Of the loving person who took care of me
When I would fall and scrape my knee
Her hugs would make the booboo's flee
There was a time I scrapped my arm
I screamed and yelled like a fire alarm
But who was there to rub on the balm
The person I lovingly called, my Mom
For the longest time I didn't know her name
But rest assured if I yelled Mom, there she came
She didn't seem to be ruled by a clock
And always had time to pick up a sock
She would always calm me in the midst of a storm
She smelled so good and was always so warm
She loved to laugh but she also cried
I remember it happened, when my puppy dog died
A printed dress that was always so worn
Smiling brightly she'd wake me each breaking morn
Her breakfasts were yummy and tasty and warm
Her apron was part of Mom's dress uniform
When I started to grow and would go out to play
Mom would be there watching throughout the day
At noon she would call me which was always so sweet
Come in little darling, it's soon time to eat
Peanut butter and jelly was the noon time treat
I'd be tired from playing but had time to eat
Then she'd put me down on the couch to sleep
And cover me up from my had to my feet
My Mom isn't home, she was called away
To a new home in heaven where she's living today
I'm sure she's at peace in her home up above
And showering other children with her motherly love!
This Cowboy came into this world with nothing.
So when you said you were leaving, I said
" Fine."
Now, I hope I Find a little Darling.
That can take me out to dinner and fine dine.
That can take me out to dinner and fine dine.
You see, I always paid the bills with my own money,
and you know these times have - a - changed.
So when I hand the bill back to you honey. Please
don't give me that awful look of shame.
Oh, please don't give me that awful look of shame.
I got concerned, when she was spending all my money.
My gut told me, it was time to go, for honey.
So, I asked her nicely, to sign a prenup.
She told me, " Oh Hell No, I'm not!" NO, "HELL NO,
I'm NOT!!!
The look on her face was priceless.
She said "I ain't -a- signing!"
Yelled, "Kiss my Ass Darling!" and
stormed out the room like lightening!
Oh, She stormed out the room like lightening!
So it saddens me to say goodbye to her,
and if you ask her, she'd say I was a Jerk.
Truth be told the reason why.
My credit card balance, reached the sky.
Oh, my Credit card balance, reached the sky.
Now I wasn't born yesterday,
and this Cowboy knows a trick or two.
When a Cowgirl says, " I love You."
Hide your wallet, and Credit Cards too!
Oh,"Hide your wallet, and Credit Cards, too!"
Cause you want to leave this world with a
little something, and not taken to the
cleaners by your darling.
No not taken to the cleaners by your darling.
Please don't think all women are all bad.
It was bad luck, this cowboy had.
Wishing for a cowgirl, that saves, not spends,
so We can ride into the sunset once again.
Oh we can, ride into the sunset once again.
Now you ask me what the Moral of this story is?
And, I'll answer you with one reply.
When you find a cowgirl, and you know she's right.
Hide your money, cause she'll take it, out of sight!
(Repeat)
OH, Hide your money, cause she'll take it, out of sight!
So, when you leave this world you'll have a little
something, and You won't be taken to the Cleaners, by
your wife.
No, You wont be taken to the cleaners by your wife...
This was written in fun, truth
be told women are much more
to be trusted than men...
My doll was gone
So pretty
So pink
I cried
My doll was always with me by my side
The night was safe
With Dolly
Beside
One day
I cried
No more doll
Bleeding paintings hanging on walls
Childhood all gone
Stolen like the doll
My life as it was; undone
Things you never see
He did those to me
I closed my eyes
Dreamed of the skies
When I was alone
Sorry mother I cried
I huddle inside my cupcake dreams
My blankets and screams
Secrets bleeding slowly
Weeping away in streams
Then one day
Later on
I saw him, way way way over there
I do not remember
The events, when they all stared
All I know is I acted and I dared
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
They said I was crazy
I know this not to be true
I knew exactly what to do
I envisioned the day
I could be a warrior princess and slay
I smile now
In my white quiet room
Oh yes I am safe here now
Shhhhhhhhhhh little darling
More important
You are safe now too
From the bottom of an abandoned gravel pit
behind my childhood home, seated,
leaning against its hardpacked sandy side,
he watched the July sun set,
the empty prescription bottle at his side.
Did he walk that day to his unnatural fate
slowly, shoulders rolling like a big cat,
alternating first one, then the other,
forward, head bent, one black errant
curl tumbling across his troubled forehead.
Did he hesitate or did he hurry
and did he think of me, just 12,
soon to be fatherless, before he
began his two weeks of decomposing
in the hot Texas sun until
the man on horseback found him
while looking for a lost calf.
I couldn't blame my mother
for the divorce she filed.
I had wanted him to leave, too,
and hadn't I prayed he would die
when he dragged her over the yard,
by a handful of her hair clasped
tightly in his fist,
because she had cut it without his permission.
Especially the next day when I found
the clump of auburn hair caught in the lush
purple blooms of the wisteria bush,
I wanted him to die.
He played his harmonica for me,
and I sang, "Daddy's Little Darling,
Don't you think I'm sweet?"
But I prayed my dad would die,
and though I asked God to ignore those
prayers of terror, I will never be able to
love enough wayward men to save my dad.
For Steve ... I'll see you when I leave. Little Darling
your feel
still comes
to me
when I
recall
our love
filled years
our shared
passion
goes on
inside
my heart
though gone
are tears
decades
went by
while I
cried ‘why
did you
so choose
to die’
I know
in time
we will
unite
where love
feels no
good-bye
I put down my book,
And I picked up the picture,
Of you, that I printed and framed-
Lost in your smile-
I gazed for awhile-
Then said, "You are going insane."
I know I can't have you-
You may not want me...
But we'll never know will we, dear.
Nor stroll hand in hand-
Through the Florida sand-
Alas, all my future is here.
Besides that, I'm older-
With too many miles...
That I've seen as I went down the road;
A rodeo drifter,
A dreamer, a fool,
More oft than I've won, I got throwed.
I'll miss you, my darling...
Do you think of me?
We touched, and of that I am sure...
Perhaps it is better-
That our love stay unmarred,
Platonic,and perfect, and pure.
Reality's shattered...
More daydreams that one.
I'm glad ours will always exist.
A gossamer world-
Unsullied by fact...
We'll walk through the glow and the mist.
Farewell, little darling-
Your smile is so sweet...
Your eyes are two windows alight.
I bask in their glow,
When the lonely winds blow-
And I sit here alone in the night.
I believe in warmth
the comforting embrace of a loved one
crackling campfire on a January night
the smile of one who knows you're here to stay
it's been a long, cold lonely winter
I believe in hope
faith is the assurance of things hoped for
the certainty of what we do not see
I don't see it, but I know it's coming
it feels like years since it's been here
I believe in love
the tide that lifts all boats
the surprise gift
the compassionate ear that truly listens
the smiles returning to the faces
I believe in light
and the One who said, "let there be light"
the true light that gives light
empress of the night reflecting glory of the daystar
it seems like years since it's been clear
I believe in song
we sang to the moon last night as she rose:
"Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Moonshadow",
"By the Light of the Silvery Moon".
Little darling, it's all right
We sing again in chill of daybreak
with the roseate glow of realized anticipation…
"Here Comes the Sun"
// The song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles has been my favorite song as long as I can remember, for its simple message of hope, light, warmth, and love. It was the song my daughter chose to have played just before we walked the aisle on her wedding day, a very special moment for me. //
Darling cute angel
Darling dragonflies are all over from other directions!
By the cottage-rosary field my little one is all enjoy!
I put out the cigarette
Rubbing my hands to keep warm
And take a last look
Tomorrow morning
I’m leaving this room
Going back home
The woman I married,
The one with the light brown hair,
Now graying at the temples
Says it’s been a long time.
I travel past open fields
That stretch forever
Ride on concrete highways
That seem to disappear in the horizon
Cross steel bridges
Suspended over cities and towns
And places nowhere on the map
The road back
Is not that easy.
Friends tell me
That my daughter,
Once a little darling with curls,
Is grown up now
With her own family
My son,
Anger in his eyes
Impatience in his soul,
Wants to leave
Just to go anywhere.
The trip’s ended
I stand in the doorway
Wife and I
Stare at each other
In awkward silence
And I remember
We never did talk that much
She breaks the stillness
Her voice matter of fact
“There’s a plate for you in the kitchen
Eat it while it’s still warm.”
As I walk by
She touches my arm
Her gesture saying more
Than words could ever say
Pulling up a chair
I look around
The familiar kitchen
It feels good
To be back home.
Hi, my name is Precious,
And most folk do agree,
That my name is a perfect fit,
For little 'ol sweetheart me.
I'm a toy Pomeranian,
And I was bred to lie on laps,
Which happens to be the very place,
I love to take my naps.
I must confess, I am a beauty,
With my fluffy, golden hair.
My liquid chocolate eyes are bright,
With the intelligence I bear.
I am fed the most delicious treats,
I'm pampered and adored.
Some folk think that I'm too spoiled,
But their opinions I ignore.
My purpose in life is two-fold:
To look adorable and be a friend.
It's my joy and delight to fulfill each one,
And I'll do so 'til the end.
I want to thank my mistress,
For making me the dog I am today:
A beautiful, adored little darling,
I'm Precious! What more can I say?
6/28/12 For Tanya Harrington's "Dog Gone Tales" contest
This place is full of bigness
the dog is big, the masters foot is big
And I am small, a mouse, a house mouse
I scurry about in the dark
crumbs are beautiful things, I eat
But I feel small, a mouse, a house mouse
I am warm and dry, but afraid
I live my life afraid, of their bigness,
of the cat, of hunger, of being caught
The little girl smiled...
She said, a little darling, cutest thing!
Mama,, look a mouse..
I am not a thinker, simple me
Just a mouse, a house mouse....

Personify an Animal contest
She’s got a few children still living at home.
Each day in this big rig, on the roads she has to roam.
The woman has to earn a steady income each day.
She has been on her own since the old man went away.
What good was he? She didn’t need him anyway.
Breaker one-nine, little darling, have your ears on?
I hope you are still out there and not gone.
What is your ten-twenty? Are you just a little down the road?
You’re bound for Savannah? That’s a long way to tote a load.
Smokey’s in a plain wrapper here on I-95.
He’s looking for anyone doing better than sixty-five.
I knew you were out there! Mercy sakes alive!
Tears in my eyes will roll till the end of times
Pain in my heart shall persist for years and years
Something inside so strong shall always tell how wrong or right this is
Memories both good and bad shall surround me
Everything seems to communicate one simple but complex message
My wisdom or contrary fails me once again in life
Just as it did the moment I decided to give you all my love
I won’t play pool with my fellow gamblers
Neither shall I drink it over
The bottle to my head never to put
Neither the trigger to pull
Watching movies may seem less interesting but I still watch will
Jealousy characteristic of my proud self for once
But deep inside I feel it
Not in contempt but definitely no regrets at all
Something is well convinced and strong enough to have me so
Some pain is worth feeling
Some tears are worth shedding
Some jealous is better felt than the opposite
Some words are better left unsaid
Some things are better left undone
Now go in peace my little angel
Warm another man’s bed if warm you must
Be a shoulder for another man to lean on
If and only if he finds need and consolation there like I did
Tell him the sweet words you told him
And when he has sweet ones to tell you
Don’t be too proud to listen
At one time or the other he may make sense
Sense that will act as joy in sorrow
Just as some words you told me when I was down do
Make your way now little darling
Let the hold world know what you are made of
I know it’s not easy for you either
Just a little bit easier than it is for me perhaps
I won’t tell you to be strong because strong I aint yet
Before I wet the paper on which I write with tears
Let mi gather the frail courage I have left
To say what I thought most impossible
To say what is most against my heart but in line with my brain
As I officially let the tears roll their way down
GOOD BYE MY LOVE! GOOD BYE MY LOVE!
I was the captain of the Amber Nichole
No prouder captain was there than me
She was the very essence of my soul
A finer ship never sailed any sea.
We braved the seas from shore to shore
In search of treasure and adventure
The world was our playground to explore
And no place was too far to venture.
Then came that terrible night at sea
With raging thunder that shook my soul
The storm of storms that ripped me
From the deck of the Amber Nichole!
I watched my proud ship from the swells
Through the storm go down by the keel
And I knew that I would never set sail
On her again, nor stand behind her wheel.
I've been stranded here ten years
In this desert so far from sea
Cast away, with only my tears
And my precious memories.
But I'm crying an ocean of tears
So I can set sail again one day
On a raft, I've built out of prayers
I'm just a few million tears away.
And when I find where she lies
Where she sank to Davey's Deep
Then there I'll lay me down to die
And pray the Lord my soul to keep...
On the deck of the Amber Nichole!
In the arms of my little girl
In the bosom of my soul
And, the center of my world.
Hush little darling don't you cry
Your daddy's gonna love ya child
Until the end of time....

(To my daughter Amber.....I miss you.)
The house suddenly seems so very empty
I miss you so much my little darling Princess
Ebony Webbony my little independent girl
Thank you for being part of my life for so long
I will admit it was not that we were always connected
You were far too independent for all the cuddly stuff
Except, of course that is when you wants something
Then I became the sun, the moon, and the stars
Once your demands were satisfied, off you would flit
But you were always there, my little outdoor girl
Then when of course you did come into the house
It was like some Royal visit from the Queen
Up on the cabinet you’d sit by the kitchen door
Silently demanding, telling me it was supper time
For breakfast, only outdoors never never indoors
Different places with different change of mood
“No no, I do not want to eat here, no,no, NO!”
“Put it where I want it, or I will not eat at all!”
“I do not give a damn about the crows, put it there!”
“No I hate the Vets, no I hate cars, no, no, No!”
“No, no NO! I do not want my picture taken,
Go away, this is my private place, please go away”
“No, no, NO! Do not cuddle me I am not in the mood”
Okay so now is the time so make sure you do it right”
“Steuth , enough of this cuddle stuff, I’m out of here!”
For years you and Gingerwhinger did not speak
Then suddenly you became the greatest of pals
Inseparable you both became, Oh he misses you so
So do I my little precious Princess, Oh so do I.
Something has gone out of our lives and it is you
My Ebony Webbony, thank you for nineteen precious years!
