Best Landslides Poems
We all have voices
They are strong and loud
We can use them to start
Landslides and earthquakes
We can also calm the storm
Take that roar and turn it into
A gentle hum
We all have words
And it's time that we use them
But before we can do that
We must change the way we speak
We must change the way we look at things
Because the words we use now are not correct
The words we use now are full of hate
The words we use weren't acceptable
Years ago so why are they now?
Why is acceptable to be using slurs against me?
Why is it acceptable to call me something
That your mother would consider vulgar?
When you speak
Can you still taste the soap
That she would wash your mouth out with?
Does it burn your tongue each time
The words escape your lips?
Or do you feel nothing at all?
Have your dirty words
Consumed you enough
That no matter how much soap is used
They will never be clean?
Have they stained your vocal chords
So much to a point
That you can only speak
In profanities and racial slurs?
Because that's all I can hear
They slap me in the face
Each time you speak
I remember what you said
To that disabled black man crossing the street
I remember what you said
To the lesbian couple
When they kissed each other in front of us
I remember what you said to the single Latino woman
Caring for her 5 children
I remember what you said when I told you I wasn't straight
I remember everything you said
And I always say
We all have words
And it's time that we use them
But only if we can calm the storm
And turn the endless hate
Into unconditional love
“The sounds of Earth is the music of my soul”
I remember the valley rolled with thunder
A section of tenors echoed from above
The sky was shredded, by forked lightning
Somehow that moment transcended love
Static electric rose up through the cloisters
The organist played like a demon inspired
Rooftop gargoyles overflowed with water
And eyes welled up, as if nature conspired
Rivers were swollen, the lake was heavy
A boy soprano, almost pierced the dome
Landslides rumbled away in the distance
High on ambivalence, I thought about Rome
The conductor was whipped into a frenzy
Fitfully pointing his wand in the air
As the tempest outside reached crescendo
Defiant altos, sang a hymnal prayer
Beyond the west window, storms fell silent
Shafts of light, shone through from space
Together the choir reached out in emotion
As they swayed stoically, to Amazing Grace

Phoenix Defrosted
Given by the Sun God the good of the moon and some lucky stars
he sits full of fortune love and still in miraculous amazement under
the bright rays of southern soil soaking unbelievable kindness and
mutual compassion granted by soul searching and Higher Power
Love had been made before from a different fabric and the colours had
quietly faded to screaming silence frozen into glaciers’ clefts of darkness
Chances lead the way and permafrost was not forever when the mask
came off with all its distortions mangled ice melting into novel beginnings
It took him searching of feeling thought desire and some meeting of minds
revisiting gently rigorously what had appeared to be the only prospect
one of soundless demise and shattering unfeasible stagnant arrest in the
prison of domination wilted marred marriage depression and torment
Agony struck and it however ignited a passion unknown a mating and union
conjoined at hips and above for always and in all ways a heartfelt dance with
the Universe high and below inside and within a mango grooved delta of
Venus hot soothing lava engulfing new lovers’ poetic trees in poetry’s motion
Considering failure in cause and success in effect of landslides misfortune
bad luck and bad choices he is fortuitously graced now to thank destiny
constellation of karma kismet pure hard worked for chances where one thing
leads to another when the ashes are reshuffled and second fire is sublime

Extreme temperatures,
Melting of glaciers,
Rising sea level,
Wildfires,
Forests' obliteration,
Droughts,
Drying up of lakes and rivers,
Desertification,
Hurricanes,
Storms,
Flooding, and
Landslides,
Is the vocabulary Mother Nature uses to
Pen its stern warning to Man:
" Oh, you thoughtless being, mind your ways and revere
my eternal laws of harmonious cooperation and coexistence,
otherwise, I would not be able to provide for your subsistence."

For more than two weeks, the temperatures in Greece have been around
40 Celsius, sometimes, like today, it is 45.
During this period, wildfires are raging across the country. It comes on a day that
Our firefighters are trying to contain more than eighty fires.

The musical of the rain
sounds as tinkling music
not a specific beat or rhythm
Who has punctured
Our Lord's clouds?
Cracks opened on the sky
The asphalt, wet and dark
the passengers are silent
breath mists the route
hides the beak under the wing
as wet crows
could almost grasp the fear
This narrow, dark
and desolate country road
Heavy rain
major consequences
feared landslides and floods
A feeling of numbness
the mood of melancholy or pathos
everyone has paid their ticket
drive carefully
- hope to arrive home safely

Think globally, act locally,
The desert shall rejoice
And blossom as rose,
Man has been endowed with reason
With the power to create
So that he can add to what he's been given.
But up to now he has only been a destroyer,
Rather than being a creator
Forests keep disappearing
Population keep increasing.
Rivers dry up
Landslides occurring from the top
Glaciers are melting
Water is vanishing,
But shame on humans
They aren't improving.
Wildlife's become extinct
The climate's ruined
Everyday the land is growing poorer
And the crops are growing uglier,
Make it a green peace
Thats the point
But what to do,
We are just lost in a woo.
The poor tread lightest upon the earth
The higher our income
The geater the outcome,
The more resources we control
The more havoc we wroke.
What would the world be
Once bereft
Of wet and wildness,
Let them be left,
O'let them be left.
Long live the weeds and the wilderness,
Kindly be possessive towards the environment
After all the destructions,
When we will be left sans of (sans- Pronounced sone meaning without)
Every natural beauty
All that remains for us
Will be of no utility
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel.
A boutique, and a swinging hot spot,
What have we done to the earth?
What have we done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and did her.
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down
I think that i shall never see,
A billboard lovely as a tree
Perhaps, unless the billboards fall,
I'll never see a tree at all
Its a sincere request in the end from my side,
Save the Environment, save our Mother Earth!
Pioneers had to cut down thousands of trees
to build their shacks and to stay warm
in harsh winters; we cut them down
for huge profits...not caring about
the devastation of deforestation
that soon will cause floods and landslides.
When Nature dies, everything that embellishes
the lovely and green landscapes dies with it;
a land without shrubs and trees is a desert
with miles of cracked soil that rain won't saturate
and make vegetation grow to attract humans,
fauna and flora to make everything lively.
I have used my keen sight to describe it,
and instinct to anticipate the dreariness to come;
doesn't joy derive from something grown,
and beauty from something seen and admired?
But where's the commitment that all should make
to keep our land a Paradise for everyone to enjoy?
We should profoundly lament when Nature dies from neglect
and abuse...hear the sorrowful cries of fowls and wolves,
of other animals that used to roam and graze
on prairies and wild meadows on breezy days;
and how can we survive without the crops
in due season? Won't we perish and disappear like Nature?
I remember a time when I heard wind chime
What a beautiful sound
The trees they danced
The plants sang
The animals joined in the beat and rhythm
This is the sound of Our Mother's nature.
But not always peaceful
whether it is fire playing it's destructive game
or hail to a tornado bullying it's way from sky to Earth
and earth to sky and back again
Lava races down versus the landslides
under Our Mother's wrath.
Humans can't ever recreate such a sound
God and Mother know nothing can compare
to Nature's beauty, balance, and musical sound.
Towards the end of late morning,
As noon was approaching,
And people went about their usual chores
A mighty rush of water
Swept them right off their feet.
No one knew what was happening,
Innocent children drowned
Into the deep depths of the water..
Waves crashed furiously -
The happiness and joys of the morning
Were now plunged into darkness.
There were enormous cloud bursts -
The cause of devastating floods,
Natural landslides,
Gradually spreading like wildfire
To other peaceful areas.
A great statue that once stood tall,
Was submerged up to the neck,
Some survivors clung to it for support,
Trying to locate their lost families,
Others looking for logs of woods
For getting themselves to safety -
The happiness and joys of the morning,
Were now plunged into darkness.
Several villages were sunk,
Others were lost forever,
Thousands of creatures died,
Buildings collapsed - Crashing over vehicles..
Which were to be destroyed by the mighty, strong currents.
The reason for this disaster
Which started off at noon,
Is still unclear to us –
Was Mother Nature upset
Because we disrespect her?
Was She shedding tears
To teach humans a lesson?
Note: This is about the disaster that occured in the Northern part of India in 2013.
We often like singing, to landslides of roses, and no one cares.
This worlds almost over, so hard to stay sober, when you're not there.
For time will tell your fortunes fail, when you breathe my name, so call on those who care for you, as your fear hides your shame. The clouds will calm, the angry rain, as I take all the blame!
This world that we live in, is taken not given, when we don't share.
So trust in your loved ones, to hold and protect you, when I'm not there.
For faith in love is bittersweet, when you have no shame. So close your eyes and raise your voice, call out my name. Just hold me now, believe in me, I'll take all your pain!
Cause I love you my precious one, I hold you in my heart. So run with me so far away, we'll build a new start. Just hold me now, believe in me, forever we'll be!
Cause we often like singing, to landslides of roses, and no one cares. And as we grow older, this world may seem colder, but I'll still be there.
A gift, a blossom not yet budded,
Potential for beauty or destruction,
Pure in intention and hopes so
Sweet, dances in the pouring rain
And tears mingling, joy and pain
Protected in one enclosing circle.
Cherished, precious words and glances
So gentle, touch of beating hearts,
A journey ended to begin
Anew, two roads becoming one,
Filled with landslides, rocks
And soft mossy patches too.
Equally unique and of one mind,
Giving by desire, not requirement,
Loyal until the sweetest end.
In the fascinating life journey of a couple
When clouds darken in their midst all of a sudden
With murky grey shades in their relation purple
Many a storms begin to twirl their souls ‘n burden.
Clouds of hatred billow inside them both,
Nights are full of creaking noises ‘n uproar
Howling winds spread in hearts taunt ‘n loath
Respect is tarred ‘n no rapport is attempted to fore.
Startled winds of ego and jealousy begin to roll
Through enraged corners of mind and heart
Gales of dominance drive faster uncontrol
Thunder of anger spooks their animal spirits apart.
When their egos remain unbent and both do not yield
They tear each other unresent and blow off their tops
Relations start to break and love gets cartwheeled
Pitted against the perpetuating gale of hatred it pops.
Bolts of lightning rip their worlds poles apart
Even gods seem furious and trigger the landslides
Reverberating with ire, the unsettled hearts begin to smart
Drowned in their desperation they lie low in their glides.
After the brutal dazzle, a torrent of tears beat down their cheeks
Drowning their muddied worlds in sorrow and gloom
Flooded, they somehow lose energy to add more obliques
Storm when it weakens later, it gives them some legroom.
After clouds poured empty, they let open up the sky
To both it dawns it would be silly to ignore nature’s reprieve
They pull up themselves and decide to make another try
With whatever bits and pieces left after the storm to retrieve
It is easier to get over nature’s storms of wind and rain
But difficult to revive sunshine of relations once sullied
Not easy to repair vivid scars of the stormed souls that remain
Hope and renewed love of twain may get differences buried.

Contest: Storms by Shadow Hamilton
This story began
as a truly mystic,
as an intercontinental
super cups championship by football,
but there are all plays gaming
in the arena of our hearts
and where final prize
more precious and desirable
than even titles
of Zidan.Maradona and Sezario.
At the acme of drive profound
in the deep core of planet
suddenly move and clash platforms
borning stresses seismically,
producing on upper surface
tsunamis,earthquakes and landslides
changing geographical and geopolitical
landscapes
felling evil empires, stagnant regimes
and emerging new states and nations
That is my love, my dear,
It’s just looking
weak and fragile
As flying in heaven papers kite.
My sense are not my senses
and my transcendence.
I have set back the global
long deep forming tendencies
and suppressed vital zest
of gravitation attractions and grows
that exploded eventually as a love
between West and East,
South and North,
Between Atheists, Muslims and Christians.
That’s way I know,believe me,
The hot time come
For love true and pristine.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE

I am demanding my own star in the sky when I die
I’ve handled all the hardships no judge can deny
I survived the obstacles nature placed in my path
Withstood the inanity from my fellow man’s wrath
I’ve survived droughts, earthquakes and eruptions
Tsunamis, typhoons, monsoons, solar flare disruptions
Windstorms, snowstorms, blizzards ,freezing rains
Fires, landslides, mud slides, avalanches , hurricanes
I survived famines, plagues, wildfires, epidemics
Deforestation, comets, meteors, pandemics
That’s not enough my fellow man added a few
Here are some inane things that I’m forced to do
Obey signs as they come into view, bump, go slo
Turns only, no turns, detour, tow away, no go
No exit, no passing, no horn, must turn right
Left turn only, tow away zone, delayed light
Exit, yield, no parking, enter, do not enter
Bus, school zone, hospital zone, civic center
Deer crossing, school crossing, soft shoulders
Subject to flooding, watch out for boulders
These are the instructions I follow each time
Every weekday morning from eight to nine
The rest of my time of sophisticated existence
Is evading compliance to mundane persistence
Beyond the escarpment of love a 2nd hand rose thrives, trying not to die
the gardens are pregnant in bloom as Mei in her China gown asks why
the authentic sun shines both to burn the winding paths of languid lies
and to non-discriminate the swell of her pearls, this is her Dynasty cry
Stunning gardens giving birth, young brides and padded stoic grooms
happy gregarious music plays a Guangling melody of old while she enchants
the whispering winds, she tries not to think of her future as the hour slips
Typhoon Marge 1973, a wedding picture framed in white taken by the lot
but on this previous day not a stroke of wind not an ounce of water to mar
the union of two souls, beyond the crystal ball gazes of two young lovers
the sea is still untouched, no rain induced landslides yet, no slope terrain
A flood of emotions isolate Mei, the coastal flood fill her lungs
she is a deluge before a torrent of people who watch in quiet consent
This ceremonial ritual quadrant union breaks, as she makes her escape
no pre-arranged singling spot, just a rolling sea and the rise of her breast
sucking in air she runs, runs, runs, and runs, away from him .
