Premium Member A Marriage of Seasons

November’s sitting at her loom.
For gown of lace, a wrap she weaves,
And when she meets her dauntless groom,
They’ll dance among the fallen leaves.

For gown of lace, a wrap she weaves.
Her groom shall wear a silver suit.
They’ll dance among the fallen leaves,
Their special song, a lone owl’s hoot.

Her groom shall wear a silver suit.
She’ll don the woven pearl-gray shawl.
Their special song, a lone owl’s hoot,
They’ll waltz at Autumn’s farewell ball.

She’ll don the woven pearl-gray shawl,
And when she meets her dauntless groom,
They’ll waltz at Autumn’s farewell ball.
November’s sitting at her loom.

Premium Member Frosty Night Stroll

When twilight hangs on the silver of trees
In ways the boughs are draped with frost's release,

My tempo of whistling strides and feet unfurl
Beneath the dome of clouds, set in misty pearl.

Lilacs pose with sheen in a crystal dress
On branches gracing a season's finesse,

The nightingales coo of winter's refrain
Along roads where love finds sweet comfort gained.

In solace, I marvel at this jeweled hour
As lanterns guide my stroll through night's tower!

Premium Member Happy Is a Feeling Without a Ceiling

I find delight in bright stars and moonlight, a cooing dove, and wooing for love

'Happy' is a feeling without a ceiling, can't be bought, is more than words impart

It's a smiling child, wild flowers, afternoon showers, and the powers of God above

Happiness is pure pleasure, a treasure we can't hide and starts inside our hearts

Premium Member Wonderment

In that boundless Sea of Suns, does there yet teem other life?

I pose this to the heavens, my heart pierced with longing's knife ...

And should I wait here ceaseless, so disclosure might return,

The Great Expanse is far too vast ... for me to e'er discern.

Premium Member Seeking Serenity

Seeking Serenity

To seek serenity is simpler said than done

at times so filled with sadnesses that come and go.

When one's resolved or healed, another has begun...

nowhere to go; nowhere to hide, nowhere to run.

The choice...stay put, adapt, relaxing with life's flow.

Support comes from inside with paths to guide us through,

adjusting thoughts to glorify life's peaceful side,

embracing joy beneath the sun and skies of blue.

Hope, love, and faith can transfigure the darkest view!

Serenity...the calm...to where we steer life's ride.

Premium Member Paradise

The shrouds of clouds slim whim accost the sun —
The phat and fat, ruddy red and horizon muddy one.

Underscore of wavy grass, a sea of bees, life’s core.
A hiss of bliss, a slap, a tap of tippy-toe on crazy shore.

The forest rests on the pregnant breast of the fireball.
The teasing test of wheezing labor on a neighbor’s shawl.

The quake of vermillion beads, the wake of creation’s seeds.
No weeds in rebirth, the girth of bittersweet tease, broken water bleeds.

Crusty-Winter’s crossed. Trim sails from rusty nails and splinter’s cross.
Behold the boast from coast to coast, warm the cold, the lost.

Here On the Edge of Good Reason

Here on the edge of good reason

Here on the edge of good reason
Dancing a shimmering sheen
Laughing at each separate season
Can’t see the shade in between

Dancing a shimmering sheen
Still as the temperature falls
Can’t see the shade in between
Hearing the wind as it calls

Still as the temperature falls
I pay no heed to the change
Hearing the wind as it calls
Never once thinking it strange

I pay no heed to the change
Laughing at each separate season
Never once thinking it strange
Here on the edge of good reason

Premium Member Letting Go of the Past

None of us are perfect,
We all have sinned some how.
We have skeletons in our closets,
That we pray won't come out now.

We try to hide our failures,
Behind good works and deeds.
But Jesus knows the truth,
And He knows just what we need.

Call upon the Savior,
He'll wash away your sins.
Your past will be forgotten,
And new life will dwell within.

Monday Morning

Clouds cry on the grass,
Little sprouts springing slowly,
waiting for the sun.

Quiet, birds chirping;
Not a creature bustles today
They sleep with the sun.

Premium Member Tale of An Old Crow

I was hiking in the hills, and I was talking to the air
when a fork in the path, took me first here,... and then, there
Prickly thickets, were aflame with brilliant crimson,
entrapping my feet, with a pin-cushion prison

The foxgloves too, grew in mass profusion
My head in a state of blind confusion
Granite rocks were wearing saffron, golden
Clouds up above, blending, enfolding

The hills were hidden in the cloudy mist
The mountains were turning deep amethyst
Dilemma lay ahead in my all my decisions
I stumbled along, without much precision

Grass bending low, between the boulders
Gulls screamed higher, wind getting colder
I would forge on ahead, over ditches and water,
as the ebb of the day, was getting darker and darker

There was a fork, in the trail near a sage scrub tree
where the needles on the ground, wore a carpet lined with weeds,
The pine was tethered in its place by the rust-red sky,
Brown and dead at the top, where a crow was sitting by

~

On long ago nights, when we sat by the lamp
I remembered one tale, that had come from my Gramps
The fastest way home was......as the crow flies

So I waited, awhile, .......He led me home, by and by

A heavenly substitute I've picked for love.

Premium Member Barren Land of Illiteracy

Barren land of illiteracy ,
Soil never having been loosened,
Not fertilized by education !

Prejudice from heart difficult to eradicate,
Aspirations vacilitate, soon disheartened,
Barren land of illiteracy !

Comforts and bad money marionette ,
End of the day, lie disillusioned,
Not fertilised by education !

Howsoever doodads may shipshape,
Barefaced soul eventually feels threatened,
Barren land of illiteracy !

Eyes riveted at the door go grave,
Impecunious mason carving in house darkened,
Not fertilised by education !

Succor will soon arrive I hypothecate,
A town feared seized will stand fortified,
Barren land of illiteracy,
Not fertilised by education !!

Premium Member Tattoo Mama

Tina-Louise dashed into a tattoo parlor
And asked for some ink in the shape of a flower.
Much below the knees so my mom doesn’t holler;
Would you hurry-up please, I’ve only one hour.

Seeing as that flower was never discovered,
Tina-Louise went back in for another.
And this time she preferred it higher to cover
A birth mark she wanted to hide from a lover

Since it turned winter, others were oblivious,
So each new tattoo became insidious.
As her pants concealed the vividly obvious,
This fact let Tina to be more devious.

Then before spring, Tina-Louise met a good man
Who was employed at emptying garbage cans.
In no time she had a diamond ring on her hands,
And a tattoo of “Stu” high up on her gams.

Tina-Louise’s belly started projecting
Because of the baby she was expecting.
And it mattered not that her Stu was objecting
To the art of ink that she wasn’t neglecting.

Even Tina-Louise’s gynecologist
Chattered on like a wannabe psychologist.
Saying stop with the inking, you need to desist,
And carried on like a show off apologist.

Well, TL’s final tattoo went high on her neck
Of some odd creature from the series, Star Trek.
And poor Stu could barely keep his temper in check
With that mouthful of Clingon he got with a peck.

Tina-Louise’s water finally did break
During delivery, Doc said for goodness sake.
It’s bizarre days like today that take the cake,
For there’s a glitch with your baby that’s a mistake.

The parents were concerned; well wouldn’t you be too?
They thought maybe their baby came out cold blue.
Nope, the shaken Doc said, this is completely new;
Your sweet little baby has a rose bud tattoo!

With one look, Stu fainted onto the sterile floor,
Since this wasn’t the newborn he bargained for.
Then Tina-Louise gave out one last birthing roar
That started and finished with curses galore.

Afterword Tina-Louise sat alone and bawled
Lamenting the curse to her new baby doll.
Why didn’t I listen to my mom at all?
And to all the others who made the right call?

TL and Stu’s baby now has beautiful skin
Thanks to the marvels of modern medicine.
Though Tina-Louise never performed a real sin;
She wished all her tattoos stayed below her shin.

“Oh Emma, my cherished and unholy soulmate;
Woman of air! Raw phrases leap with love and hate.
Behind glasses seethes a romantic, daring the night
August child of gothic verse, lines we all recite.

Yet , when soirees roll, your flame the men desire;
It surprises me how that glance changes like fire!
In class, we ignite our teachers’ ire with naughty quirks
Creating romps as the batch mimes our theatrics.

Tonight, we pluck more wild seeds of younger memoirs
Still coloring our lives as time waits for girl- hours.”
