Best Inspirations Poems
In a moment of understandable frustration with me,
My wife demanded to know what I really believed in.
I thought for a minute, tear glands filling,
"The essential goodness of my parents."
My mother was a child of the great city of Philadelphia,
In hard times in a hard family, soon to fracture,
She withdrew from the days when her father would leave his little girls
In the car all afternoon in back alleys near the taverns,
From which he would emerge, full of volume and vomit.
She grew through school, emerging herself to be a wonderful mom,
To kindle her children's interest in the physical world,
Geology, astronomy, physics, and the patterned realms
Of painting, music, and poetry.
She showed me that she loved me.
She showed me that parents were people.
She showed me that parents were fallible,
That not everything could be controlled,
And that that was okay too.
My father was a child of the land,
Of farming in the age of innocence,
Long ago down in the southern part of the state of Indiana.
He knew of seeds, of frost, of the earth and time,
Of rock and root, of wind and drought and rain.
He never complained about rain - we kids didn't like the muddy yard
That was supposed to be a football field - he'd say,
"Tell you what - I'll take the rain. I've seen the other."
The most honest man I know, the most honest person that could ever be,
He watched the night sky with me when I said, "Moon and tar."
He took me to a hardware store on a stormy summer Saturday,
Dark clouds coming close, in a car with the thicker sheet metal of the old days.
Just as we parked, the first raindrops, that irregular rhythm, compelling,
"Hey Doug! Would you listen to that rain?! Let's just sit here for a while."
We sat with the rain on the roof as it began in earnest,
That rain of a thousand thousand hits,
A million baby birds doing their firecracker tap dance above us,
That rain that has lasted me the rest of my life.

For Brenda Chiri-Carroll's contest - 'Who has inspired you most in your life.'
I learn from you, dear garden, wisdom vivacious,
You are a vast archive, that makes my life gracious;
You give feast to my sensory organs and mind,
Your means of living and letting live, makes me kind...!
I, often, feel sad, seeing your seed planted, dead,
But, soon wonder in awe, when it raises its head;
When I, in manual work, get mix with you well,
You, in silent secret, vitalize my life-cell...!
Your rainbow-tinted bubbly blossoms, bloom my joy,
Your smile-filled serene scenes, I cheerfully enjoy;
Raring you and caring for you make me younger,
Faith and hope brim-fill my pitcher of life, fuller...!
Planting you, I see my future with optimism,
For, innate in you is, unending altruism;
Amidst your fragrant flowers, weeds too grow sporty,
It's, indeed, orchestration of nature's beauty...!
Your coffers of bounty never find emptiness;
No creature goes hungry, having sought your kindness,
Life you live for others, dying you resurrect,
Body and soul for all; with no color and sect...!
Thoughts of liveliness; religion of godliness,
Existential baseness; wisdom flow in fullness;
In the endless canvas of life, virtues you paint,
Whole in ethics and morals; you're a living saint...!

"Intimate Inspirations"
the beauty of Nature inspires my quill
the lovely mystique' of Creation, my will
to compose lines, amazing, to share with my peers
and welcome sweet critique', as insights appear.
the smile of a child; the love of my life
commits my vast gift to ease another's strife
as the song of the nightengale offers soft glow
enchanting deep thoughts from beneath and below.
the sweetness of puppies romping on grassy ground
the pitter-patter of kittens, meowing, astound
elements of Earth and residents of Sky
inspire my soul as tears cascade each eye.
watching waves crest as they kiss sandy shores
the beach is my haven, to ponder encores
of poetic art captivating and free
these intimate treasures ever inspire me.

I crave for them through sprays of light
To see the vignettes in my mind
Their warm love hugs me day or night
Inside a chalet large and bright
I relive heart’s joys so entwined
I crave for them through sprays of light
My grandma's laughter soft and sprite
My grandpa's face, firm yet kind
Their warm love hugs me day or night
Those bedtime stories fill my sight
Hide-and- seek thrills, now hard to find
I crave for them through sprays of light
We pluck sweet fruits with all our might
Till weak trees fade with old age grind
Their warm love hugs me day or night
These souvenirs of life’s blessed flight
Finds me clinging to years all signed
I crave for them through sprays of light
Their warm love hugs me day or night.
Who Has Inspired You Most In Life
For Brenda- Chiri-Carroll...1/4/2017
Besides love and happiness
The world is full of sufferings
Political crisis, economic crisis, epidemics and poverty
Slanders, violations, crimes and trafficking
Politicking, hegemony, disputes and wars
A never ending story of sufferings
Hardly any solutions
But becomes great inspiration for
Story tellers
Art pieces
Poems writers
And
An old grandmother's story for the next generation
Of course an unerasable scandal
Both the day and night
Are artist’s inspirations
Better told with paint.
This must be what inspiration does
I'll be her junkie if she'll be my drug
If she wanna play bonnie I'll be her thug
Put them together got some gangster love
Nightly turning headboards to sawdust
She safe with me like daddy warbucks
So beautiful cant help but be awestruck
This must be a web cause we both stuck
Like a flawless diamond she exquisite
Her body I visit then mentally revisit
Just felt gods gift the touch of her lips
Like a sinking ship she overwhelms this
Some choose to cheat when their already winning
Every new nights just like the beginning
Im way past content Im gone off her scent
Must be hiding her wings cause she's sure heaven sent

Garden Inspirations
A trowel in one hand,
Seeds in the other,
Digging the soil,
I'm a garden lover.
Doesn't matter if your garden's big or small,
Enjoying the nature,
It's good for us all!
Beautiful flowers of all colours,
Watch them grow,
Red roses and yellow crocus.
Lovely smell of fresh cut grass,
Wonderful sight of the birds flying free,
Sun shining brightly,
Through the tall leafy trees.
Breath in the fresh air,
See the beauty around,
Of the plants and wildlife show that we care.
Pause…
This moment
Breath deeply and
Place your pen aside
It has little power left in it
Although you have endeavored
These are not your moments inspiring
But are too transparent in simplicity to record
Where is your racking anger and troubled solace?
You always compose through those eyes filled with sorrow
The meter of your verse will be painted with a dangerous divinity
And a spiritual suggestion as you put blindfolds over our true eyes
Light that flame within us that directs us past fear as a radiant beacon
That astonishes the most naïve in us with an exhilarated spiritual moment
Only you will hear its approach echoing deep within your creative heart
The tides of time will cleanse away obscurity corrupting your mind
The long deceased will reanimate as the verse flows unfettered
Those thoughts are fetal now wait to put pen to paper
While they grow under the blanket of fulfillment
Soon they will all surface and wash ashore
On the eternity of the rising sun
With the storms passing
In the hour of their birth
Let the moment rise
But breathe deep
This moment
Pause…
Inspirations
I get inspired by many things
A mother holding a new born child
A broken man who wont let his demons win.
a dog sitting
a preacher preaching
almost anything
for i dont see what they do or say
I see thier actions taking place through the light of the day.
They inspire me to be better
they remind me what I have done
they remind me that I am not the only one living under the midday sun.
A soldier fights with glory in mind
a generous man gives just to be kind.
Im inspired by everything
I feel bleesed I have seen so many things.
the melodic chords
at finger tips , drift
back and forth into a song
'ere long-
the vivid images
in a painter's eye
transformed, splash
upon canvas-
the nouns,adjectives
memorable verbs
from poetic ears
writ large,then
sweet voices,heard
so
Come..
fly with me
beyond,beyond
imagination;
Capture..
emotion's
aurora in your
firmanent;
Watch..
images descend
as crystallised
inspiration;
Bathe..
in a tide
of surreal
tranquility;
Paint..
what you see
with fine words
of poetry.
where
The music of silence
calms
my mind
my
thoughts
trickle-down
bubbling
over
the rocks
of experience
Waves
of imagination
surface and jostle
one with the other
like children
at play
shouting for attention
for life
on my page
Listen to me read these poems on youtube under the name of ichthyschiro
As blue cornflowers decorate each field giving hope in July.
Kings learn many new opportunities; probing questions;
real self-therapy; unblemished veracity with Xyris yearly zest.
I make promise to me that,
Today is going to be a good day.
I feel the reason in my heart,
That I’ll start shining all the way,
The shine which will glitter me,
Encourage me, light up me;
To achieve my dreams.
I have nothing;
But only a hope,
Hope of making those dreams into reality,
And; I think hope give inspiration.
So dream your dreams, hope your dreams,
Live your dreams and keep faith in yourself.
