Good Morning, Starshine

“Good morning, Starshine,” each dawn he would greet
As from feather pillows our eyes would meet

Perhaps you can imagine my surprise
When he was gone when I opened my eyes

Did he forget our anniversary?
Just one year had passed since he’d married me

But as my eyes opened wider that day
I found rose petals upon the bed lay

He’d heard me rising, but he called, “Get back in!”
Bacon’s scent from the kitchen wafted in

In he entered with breakfast on a tray
He retrieved the remote and then pressed “play”

I started to eat, beside me he lay
To watch a film of our wedding day

When I picked up the tea cup, what a shock
There sat a ring with a large diamond rock

Gems were too costly when we got engaged
But seeing this now made my passions rage

Gently my husband always embraced me
But never more than on our first anniversary

Autistic

You may not understand me or the things I do,
and you may not understand why I don't look at you.
You keep telling me I'm playing with my toys wrong,
and you don't know why I only sing one song.

You want me to go out and play with the other boys,
but it scares me when they make that loud noise.
You don't understand why I am different from the rest,
but everyday for me is another test.

I'm sorry my hand doesn't work that way,
you'll get how special I am one day.
My brain is different in the way I think,
but my ship isn't going to sink.

Even though I'm different, I can still cry,
so it hurts when you ask god why?
You just need to pay a little more attention
to this little boy playing in his own dimension.

Butterflies Flew Away

Looking into your eyes I felt the warmth in you
Smiles and laughter drew me nearer
How is it that we've never met before now
and yet sitting across from you I felt I'd known you forever
I felt the presence of others but I never saw them
There was only you.

So many stories we told each other
of our heartaches and our triumphs
but all of that was so insignificant to the way you made me feel.
Butterflies in my tummy flew away,
although my heartbeat grew fast
We spent hours... and I could have spent days with you
but you couldn't know that.

I think you liked me, our smiles were infectious between us,
I so hoped you liked me and more..
I ate cake and didn't care,
I told you things that even my mum doesn't know
Over the top of my coffee cup
I watched you... kind,gentle,funny,smart
I felt joy and excitement,
but you didn't you know that?

But I'm so glad you asked me to see you again
Because maybe then I'll get to tell you...

Double Etheree For Andie :)

^_^
Light,
laughter
they mingle
with wit and charm...
A beautiful soul
who wields a gifted pen,
touching each heart with her words
written with a warrior's spirit,
taking on any challenge with grace
She is Andrea, Word Warrior, my friend

There is never a dull moment with her
each visit to the Soup, a delight
Her comments always make me smile,
inspiring me to write gems
She's a kindred spirit
Someone I can trust
Sweet, caring, true

Almost Like a Prayer

I stood upon a cloud of joy
A breeze blew through my hair
I felt the gift of total bliss
And didn't have a care

Something deep within my soul
Had found an open door
I entered in the room of love
And danced across the floor

I thought to me that this must be
The place to find the throne
But then I looked around and saw
That I was all alone

Angelic voices called to me
To move throughout the mist
Their song was like a beacon
And I felt my heart was kissed

Suddenly I saw the sun
And everything was clear
I knew that all I heard was true
And that is why I'm here

I sit upon the greenest grass
I feel a certain calm
I take a memory from my past
And hold it in my palm

I look at what I've done in life
To gain a place in line
I measure all my efforts
And compare them with my time

I wonder what I could have said
To help a friend in need
I wonder what I could have done
To help a growing seed

I ponder this and so much more
While drifting on a breeze
I seek to find some comfort
That will put my mind at ease

When suddenly a caravan
Of angels come my way
They stop to resurrect me
And they carry me away

I take the life and move along
To find a better me
To walk and pray and love each day
For all eternity

If ever I should feel the need
To find my way again
I'll fold my hands and close my eyes
And call upon my friend

Happiness - a Short Story

I liken happiness as I would
to my best friend and soul mate.
When she leaves my life,
she announces her departure loud & clear.
There is no mistake; she has gone away.

But when she re-enters my life, she's silent.
Like a game of Guess Who?, she sneaks up
behind me & taps me on the shoulder.
I always turn around in total surprise
and amazement; then embrace her too tight.
I don't care where she has been,
I'm just content she's returned to me.

Rain - Fall Upon Me Again

She entered my life upon happenstance.
I was unaware and naive.
No angels to carry my chin.
No raindrops to cleanse my emptiness.
"I am a landscaper without a garden.
Surely, you cannot help me?"

An unhesitant smile bewitched me.
I began to drown within the scent of her hair.
Her left eyelash softly brushed my cheek
rendering me captured and speechless.

"My name is Rain."
I paused. I silently swallowed.
Her simplistic beauty enveloped me.
Cerulean eyes. Crimson lips. Indigo lashes.
Our fingertips entwined and my being
was suffocated into the magical beating of her heart.

I bowed my head and stammered:
"I've never flown above canyons before."
"I usually sink into the bottom of an empty lake."
Rain kept silent. She spoke to me through her eyes.
Riding upon the wings of an ivory stallion, we glided.
A crystal ball of wonderment she bequeathed me.
She abled me to envision:

Memories from my past.
Hopes of my present.
Dreams for my future.
Our journey seemed like an eternity.
A carousel ride a child never wants to cease;
a mysterious enchantress I wanted to stay.

I didn't expect her exit.

The clouds swelled around her flowing silk cloak;
her wings of white. I remember now. I wanted to cry
as she drifted into the inviting dusk.
I thought I was sobbing but was mistaken.
I was basking in the memories,
hopes, dreams and
the promise of tomorrows
with the glorious teardrops of
my guardian angel.
"Rain...
whisper your sacred lullabyes and
fall upon me again.
Please, fall upon me
again."

My Sources of Joy

In slowing my breath I embody delight.
My mind is peacefully still, comforted
in meditation by compassionate warmth.
I am consumed by effortless pleasure,
enraptured and filled with a sublime bliss
which holds me in a spiritual embrace.

In stretching out my arms and embracing
my lover when we meet, a most delightful
feeling ignites my heart, a passionate bliss,
radiating devotion, providing comfort.
Tender loving affection, fueled with pleasure,
is the only fire which keeps me warm.

In holding my child and feeling her warm
breath upon my skin I am eager to embrace
responsibility. It is a real pleasure
providing for her and seeing the delighted
expressions which spring from a comfortable
home filled with happiness and bliss.

In charity and kindness, I realized bliss
may be shared with others. A hot meal or warm
bed is all that is required to give comfort
to a starving soul in need of my embrace.
Generous deeds that are sown with delight
will provide a harvest of infinite pleasure.

In pursuing pastimes I find pleasurable,
I am transported to worlds of blissful
proficiency where volumes of delightful
expertise give me instruction. Warmed
by information and fully embracing
understanding, I find cerebral comfort.

In recollecting my past I am comforted
by a lifetime of true contentment. Pleasures
remembered are all I need to embrace
the future with true confidence. Blissfully,
I reminisce and bathe in the soothing warmth
of a life replete with bountiful delights.

The comfort I derive from these simple pleasures
is a sweet embrace, saturated with bliss
and the unparalleled warmth of perfect delight.

The Scavengers

It hangs outside my window on
                            the big shepherd hook.
Filled with food for all those who
                            comes to eat from it.

Many scavengers land on the brim.
Eating the seeds left there for them.
So many colors, shapes and sizes are
                            visit the feeder daily.

As they come and go seeds fall
                            to the ground below.
                            Squirrels, are waiting patiently to
                            gobble down the seeds.

                            Inside sits 3 kitties watching
                            through the windows making their
soft music tails swishing back and
                            forth.

The outside visitors pay them no
                            mind and keep eating.
Than it happens quick as a wink
Louie takes a leap against the glass.

He looks over at me with such a look.
Mommy, why didn't you warn me about
                            the glass begin there?
His pride wounded he jumps down.

The show is over now they all jump
down and curl up dreaming that
tomorrow they will have bird soup
                            for dinner.

Cowgirl Wanna Be Hat

My book of life contains a cowgirl page
When pointy-toed boots were still in style
And Nudie country jackets were the rage
I'd pick a special hat out of the pile
You'd see me coming for a country mile!

There was a certain one that I recall
I'd wear it when I'd go out line dancing
Chocolate colored suede and inches tall
I would put it on and start my prancing
Gave me confidence to be romancing!

On the dance floor doing a dipsy dive
Flirting with the cowboys,having fun
That hat seemed to make me come alive
Calling everybody "shug" and "hun"
That cowgirl hat was sure a special one!

The Town of Flibbertyflat

I got a strange urge to travel one day
So I set off a walking on my merry way
I reached a crossing of Roads A and B
Which way would you go? Hmm let me see

I decided to follow along on Road A
Saving Road B for some other day
I came to a town called Flibbertyflat
And everyone there was wearing a hat

Their hats were all shapes and various sizes
Some were quite normal and some were surprises
They had round ones and square ones and some that were red
But everyone there had a hat on their head

I even saw one on a tall silly cat
As he strolled down the street of Flibbertyflat
When the Flibertyflatters took notice of me
All of them thought I was something to see

Each one of them looked and started to stare
They'd never seen someone not covering their hair
It dawned on me then that my hat was at home
I'd left it behind when I started to roam

The Flibbertyflatters just could not believe
And told me quite quickly that I’d have to leave
I could not be there without wearing a hat
So I'd better get one or leave just like that

I quickly ducked in to the nearest hat store
And tried different hats for an hour or more
I tried a tall black one and one that was knit
But I couldn’t find any that really would fit

I tried a blue spiked one and one with a tassel
I tried one with spots it was really a hassle
I tried one with stripes and one with a ring
But try as I might I could not find a thing

I kept on trying ‘til my poor head was sore
And finally I told them I could take it no more
I tried every one from the tall to the flat
But none of them fit, neither this one or that

I decided to leave that hat wearing place
So I wouldn't be viewed as a hatless disgrace
And quickly I hurried from Flibbertyflat
Hoping never to see another silly ole hat

I was not meant to be a Flibbertyflatter
Where wearing a hat is all that would matter
I’d much rather live at my home address
Where going hatless does not cause distress

The next time I get the traveling urge
And come to that place where the roadways converge
I’ll tell you one thing and it surely is true
I’m taking Road B without fail, wouldn’t you?

Pull of a Finger

One of my favorite things about you is your smile
But you rob me of it by trying to keep it hid
By covering it up
By trying to refrain
Just seeing you TRY to refrain cracks me up
Seeing you smile
Hearing you laugh
Brings such pure joy to my soul
So when you do, I drink it up
When I realize certain things you do
or certain things I do makes you laugh
Makes you smile all the way up to your eyes
I make note of it so I can use it
EVERY chance I get
Even if that means enduring something....
Gross
Weird
Risky
Silent but deadly
But hey a girl's gotta do
What a girl's gotta do
Even when you ask me
With a sly smirk on your face
"Pull my finger"
and you smile that wonderful smile
And I immediately start laughing
Although pulling the finger
Might result in something putrid
Any kind of embarrassing sound
"Basking in the ambiance"
I pull the "trigger"
Sometimes a sound follows
Sometimes it's a dud
But nonetheless
We burst out laughing
And I get to see you smile
Hear you laugh
All smells aside
All sounds aside
I'm am full of happiness
All because of the pull of a finger
