Best In The Head Poems
I wear an ID badge for my group.
It dangles down from my belt loop.
I have anonymity
When I stand up to pee
But it gives me away when I poop.
A HOLE IN THE HEAD
I don't know who it was who first said,
"I need that like I need a hole in my head."
It was a statement that was quite profound.
Many people said it as it went all around.
So what is it like to have a hole in your head?
You wouldn't feel much pain if you're already dead.
But if you're alive, that's another story.
A hole in the head would make things quite gory.
But, really we do have some holes in our head.
There's two holes for our eyes and a hole for our nose
And our ears have holes on the sides there instead.
Our mouth is the biggest and busiest hole I suppose.
It is the mouth that we all dread which
operates so well.
It can be silent, or laugh, or give a loud yell.
It can be truthful or lie or just give a sigh.
And it can work with the brain or just pass it by.
A mouth that is closed is sometimes the best
For things we may say may ruin the rest.
That hole in the head just should not work
without the brain to give it a perk.
The mouth is the hole in the head
that we really need
to express our true feelings
and not just to plead.
It utters the words that we use to explain
whatever we're thinking no matter how lame.
Yes, we really do need the hole in the head,
No matter just when or how often it's said.
So the next time you say,
"like a hole in the head'"
You'll know it has meaning
so be careful what's said.
Tragedy where ignorance sleeps in the head
Citizens bleat for mercy and compassion
Women’s beads of tears roll for their seeds
Garden tools apply for visa to go overseas
As once exiled weeds trail their way home
Where ignorance sleeps in the head
Smoke rises from fiery chimney of ruler’s heart
Foxes roam countryside to celebrate their birthdays
Victims of fiery hearts supply farmyard manure
To peasants who dig when the sun is asleep on his bed
Like a dull needle to the head
It scorches the veins
Violently raiding
The neck can not turn
With the kitchen above
Pain scowls
Drawing to the temples
Running to the forehead
The bridge screams
At the side of the nose
With veins throbbing
Ready to burst and bleed
Disrupted, the power source weakens
And the body now hangs
By the spine, limbs run dead
The heart beats loud
Heavy but slow
The blood rushes
At the high
You wouldn't believe;
A thin girl
With pressure that screams
Death
At any day
For as so the blood reaches
Shivering body
Useless for walks
Tightens the lungs
With airs sucked in
It's release is unlikely
Like an under weighted model
Lights to the eyes
Brighter than any
In those past days
Seem to laugh today
Blinding the sight
And causing veins to fight
Pounding through skin
The temples keep them back
With it's speed
Sound strikes the drums
Causing sights of blur
Resting away makes it worse
Veins pressed to the pillow
Throb by the weight of the head
And it's compression by the pillow
Tossing and turning does not save the pain
So the pills are taken
To make them die away
By the hour that passes
Weakness is still there
But the pain no longer exists
Only for now
The man was shot in the head
The man stood up and talked about ethics and morality
They shot him and ripped him apart
and said it was his fault
The study said he didn’t fit in
So they had to kill him
And took him down to the river and let him go
Nobody was really happy about it
But nobody cried either
They said he was born this way
Risking death for life
Knowing many ways to die
And hoping his friend still loved him
Watching the sun go down
Waiting for the morning to come
Seeing the night as a dream
And knowing when it’s over
Someone told him to dance
And truth ripped through him
And he couldn’t go back
And he was alone
Like the power they gave him
And the love they didn’t have
He called himself intense
Nobody knew how to help him
The man was shot in the head
On a Friday afternoon at the government center
The air was still and the sun was shining
Someone called out his name
And said safety is his friend
The truth was on his side
He hoped his friend still loved him
He turned around and they shot him in the head
The wind guides my blade
Through thick bone to meet your brain
Forever now dead
The taxman called: “You’re being audited”, he said
I needed that like a hole in the head
The doctor said twins; it was triplets instead
I needed that like a hole in the head
My wife said: “No more babies, get out of my bed!”
I needed that like a hole in the head
We’re all getting sick; the pipes are made of lead
I needed that like a hole in the head.
The vegetables in my garden, due to bugs are all dead
I needed that like a hole in the head
My doctor gave the “Bend over” instruction I dread
I needed that like a hole in the head
The monies in my account, to the creditors fled
I needed that like a hole in the head
Transmission fluid on the garage floor has all been bled
I needed that like a hole in the head.
So if you’ve got bad news, don’t hold it back
May as well add some more to the pack
My head is already full of holes galore
How much can it hurt to add one more?
In case you haven't guessed, my Catch Phrase is: "I needed that like a hole in the head".
That woman sobbed in the library's IT room.
It was the tenth of October,
though that seemed so irrelevant.
Why did this woman upset me?
She was uncanny, eldritch,
and the whole thing was sad.
I almost had tears in my eyes.
Thin and middle-aged, maybe she was old.
She was grey and wore a grey overcoat.
Yes, I did almost cry at that sight.
Something not working on that machine?
That computer seemed to refuse
to do what she demanded.
A librarian spoke gently to her, tried to help.
Did the tenth of October have a reckoning on her?
She was to my right,
a small distance away, her back to me.
I could not see her face.
I think the woman settled
and I do rather hope she's OK,
though I'd never met her, may never see her again.
I upped and left the room for home.
It was the tenth of October.
It was World Mental Health Day.

I would have liked to be in the head of Claude Debussy,
write the “afternoon prelude of a faunal”,
Or "the toy box", or "Bergamasque suite", "La mer",
be a musician, a seer, and invent new music,
I would have liked to know all the images of the gardens,
I would have liked to write for clarinet, triangle
Or the piano in its case,
I would have liked to be in the head of Claude Debussy,
write a “Scottish walk”, a “moonlight”,
Playing the piano, in a garden filled with purple lilacs,
No doubt that leaving a footprint is giving
the best in the world
I would have left for my daughter a «tribute to Haydn»
And the «children’s corner», something to dream about at night,
I would have liked to be in the head of Claude Debussy.
(Two ducks on the sea, bring me back to reality,
They don’t need me, or Claude Debussy.
I would never be in the head of genius. )
Universe inside,
Mind into mind into mind,
Petals of the eye.
Who needs will?
Endorphine blitzers
Overdose blues and alcohol spritzers
Chemically engineered to enslave
Like the things we see
and who were taught to be
since birth weve been told to behave
Anarchy!Rebellion!Ego!Zeitgeist!
There they were
Married
It was love at first sight
For a week or so
They were happy
Then things began to get complicated
They still loved each other
When he would come home
He would present her a red flower
And she would wait on the doorstep daily
To welcome him with a smile
But something was wrong
That warmth was missing
They were looking for someone else in each other
The person that they have created in their minds
None of them were as perfect as their creation of thoughts
And how could someone be… real and perfect
That was it
They smiled at each other
But that was superficial
They loved each other
But not more than the person in the heads
Both were trying hard to make each other happy
He would try his best to make her feel secure
And she would try her best to make him feel complete
They would argue frequently
But then went silent with time
And thus life went on
They grew old
Having hand in hand they would walk
In the park every evening
They would water the flowers together
Would play chess when they would suffer insomnia
And would wake each other up
She would make tea
And he would take her out to see the first rays of rising sun
Complete... What else one want...
I wonder if the person who once lived in the mind
Is still alive...
Or have they both banished the imaginary beings...

A rogue arrow hit me in the head,
I have fallen… and now I’m dead.
Yet I feel absolutely no remorse,
I have not died falling off my horse.
I have fallen in battle fighting for my
believes. Faithful until the day I die.
My graveyard the field drenched in blood;
No living things, no light, no more God.
And my death wasn’t silent, it was loud:
I have been heard. For that I’m proud.
brain is the head in the head
Terrified of those voices,
Lingering through my head,
Taking a deep breath,
Sinking in to unconsciousness,
I can't let them win.
No cuts on my wrists,
A smile on my lips,
Hearing me laugh,
Hearing me smile,
Dead inside my soul.
Pay attention to my deep depression,
Indulge deep within my soul,
Take a second to listen,
A heart beat that has stopped.
Not letting the voices take over,
I am still here,
Fighting daily fighting strong.
Walk with me through the rain,
Through the darkness through the storm,
We can do this life all day long.
