Best In Like A Lion Poems

Spring, Oh So Close

Sunny today
but Oh what a chill

The wind inhales and exhales
the trees bend on the hill

Winnie the Poohs Blustery Day
just cannot compete

In like a lion and out like a lamb
I am so tired of paying for heat

I long for crocuses, tulips and green
it seems like ages since they have been seen

End Game

I figured it out
A long time ago.
Call it a hunch;
Bulls-eye! With an arrow.

Faith and wisdom will
Sort it all out.
Pieces of a puzzle
Strewn all about.

Good and evil,
No neutral ground.
Can't ride the fence
Or step out of bounds.

"God, help me!" I can't
Do this alone forever.
"Can't beat 'em, join 'em?"
I said, "Not me! Not ever!"

God has a plan and
I need only be still.
Love others, do good
Bring myself within his will.

I sat long and hard
I re-thought it all.
It all goes back
To satan's great fall.

The story goes
Something like this,
It all began with
A "snake" and a "hiss".

Now, here we are
It's twenty-twenty-one.
They're leaving out God
And life's no longer fun.

Neighbor against neighbor
King against king.
Gold and silver
Are all worthless things.

God said, "Time is short.
The hour is near."
Satan gave a snort,
Smile giving way to sneer.

He exclaimed with pure joy.
God wasn't amused that
We became the devil's toy.

In like a lion and
Out like a lamb?
God said, "Stop! Reverse that!"
It came down to a man.

King of kings,
Name above all names.
God took off the gloves,
No longer playing a game.

Jesus Christ is his name,
From a humble beginning.
I see, from the looks of it,
Now God is winning!

Love nailed to the cross.
Jesus, the final sacrifice.
Though afraid, he prayed
Only for God's advice.

"Your will, not mine",
He said as he knelt.
All my sins are the
Cause of what he felt.

God is great!
Exalted be his name!
It was 3 days later that
Jesus changed the game.

Satan is alive and well,
But only for a while.
God's coming back and
That concludes the file.

March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb
       — English proverb

Any sign of Spring makes me sigh
        — Kim Rodrigues

OUT LIKE A LAMB

pink petals of confetti throng
the Spring tree eulogizing Fall.
snowy buds cling like upraised songs.
March first bleating breaks down the wall

of incessant roaring rainstorms.
the keyboard-roof is fighting back,
the lion napping, seeds perform.
Daffodils give Winter the sack.

March Comes In Like A Lion

March Comes In Like A Lion

Dandelion dance
in the palm of my
hand; a gentle
bloom.

I love
my birthday
flower.

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

Inside the fierce beast, beats the heart of a king
No challengers come forth to contest his throne

Leisurely days spent dreaming of his pride
Ingesting meat taken down by his females
Knowing his reign ends when age betrays
Enjoying his vigor as he awaits that fate

Another, younger male, comes to call

Lying in wait while the females are serviced
Inhaling the scent of the pride in heat
Only caution stays his hunger and power
Not so when the mighty male is exhausted

Out of the bushes he rushes the fatigued king
Ultimate victory assured as challenge roars out
Though winded, the pride male answers swiftly

Like boxers they circle, searching for weakness
Incensed at the impudence, the elder attacks
Keen reflexes, the challenger moves like a ghost
Engaging the king with teeth, claws and fury

A fatal mistake, now the old king lays wounded

Limping away, weak from blood loss and pain
Already he dreams of the death that approaches
Maybe his time is over, but another will come
Behind him, the new king begins his reign

UPON A BED OF PETALS

When March roars in like a lion
It exits meekly like a lamb
In its wake it leaves behind
Shoots of green breaking ground

These tiny green gems struggle hard
To see the light of day
In just a few short weeks
They'll put on a fabulous display

'Neath the trees that have popped their buds
And bloom profusely, dazzling the eye
The little perennials raise their colors
With a beauty one can't deny

All this made possible by our Creator
Who knew how to give us pleasure
A myriad of gorgeous trees and flowers
Something for us to treasure

So as you view this great bouquet
Remember to thank the One
Who made this bed of petals possible
The same One Who gave us His Son

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lion

would you say a day ending dreary,
cast in a gray of which we all grow weary,

looms sublime in its overcast fray?

earth meeting sky in flat light,
over echoed night birds reflected in white,

as april clouds wait impatient to wash it away;

but do flakes smother hope like dew
or wetly hide spring’s silent green clue?

while under black ice lurks warm summer days…

In Like a Lion

We are in for another storm
the wind blows around outside,
it feels extremely cold
I have to find a place to hide.

Wind greets me at the back door
it wish it would warm up a bit,
I'm hoping Spring will be here soon
I don't like it, when Winter hits.

Why can't it be much warmer?
I get tired of putting up with the cold,
the roads are still so very slippery
last night, we got some more snow.

I don't mind Winter, at times
but, the cold has taken me down,
I used to love the picturesque view
I once had a smile, now all I can do is frown.

I try to invent ways to do something
maybe I will take some time to bake,
I will get around to making my cookies
or even try to bake a homemade cake.

I have to find a place to hide
I feel like going into the corner and crying,
it's too cold outside to anything
March comes in like a lion.

Well, I figured I might as well write something, to keep my mind off the cold outside.

This morning the winds were eighty miles an hour.
The rain lashed down, Nature showing her power.
Now, an hour later, the sun shines so bright
Casting down her warm rays, a beautiful sight.

Our moods change as the weather these days.
One minute we're rain, the next, sunny rays.
March has come in like a lion, true,
And we hope she'll go out like a lamb too.

Winter has left us frazzled and stressed
And we're ready for spring when we're at our best.
Enough of winter, of storms and snow.
For winter and our bad moods, it's time to go.

March

March roars in like a lion seeking

Attention with its hard cold breezes

Ranting and raving like some lunatic

Carefully the sun calms the lion transforming

Him into the sacrificial lamb

Groundhog's Spring

Groundhog
Poke your head up
Tell us all spring is soon
The cold roared in like a lion
So farewell winter like a little lamb
Surface for warm air and flowers
Only a few more weeks
From your report
Groundhog

“In like a lamb and out like a lion” OR “In like a lion and out like a lamb”

Leaving a snow white trail across my yard
and giving a mighty roar,
the lion had arrived.

The beast of winter
crept off within the first week.
Sun now strokes my cheek.
I can almost hear a bleat.
March will go out like a lamb.

March In

“In like a lion out like a lamb.” Old March idiom

Capricious and fickle
March - wind piper of mischief
Wakes rainbows with sun and storm
Sends kites on rollicking adventures.

March bluster teases tree buds
Tickles the robins and wrens
Lion lies down with the lamb
Joy born from winter feels March whimsy.
