Still hope before the final petals fall
and feather ~ slowly drifting to the ground;
I cry within my heart a dreadful pall,
myself, a hopeless painful love impound.
As crimson beckons softly to cajole,
I yearn the skin as smooth upon your breast,
to cradle and to sooth my troubled soul
and whisper words that put my mind at rest.
The lonely roses pale without your lips
and blossoms fade without your blushing cheeks,
as colors of the day to moonlight slips
I pray once more to hold the love I seek.
My darling love please save me from this fate,
I lie alone ~ for only you I wait.

Invictus

Bind my hands
Shackle my feet
Rain lashes on my body
Prick, prod, impale and crucify
You can impound my freedom
You can bludgeon me bloody...

Still, I stand tall
Proud, unbowed,
My spirit is yet free
I am yet, the master of my soul!

The Sentry

Posed such, in its formidable array
would guess that all protection in refer
not deem my soul respectively, relay
but from some archway's character of serve!

That guard of my esteem, not turning gray
is from some inner peace, not just of nerve
the loyalty I've bridged by my own stay
now chances not its entry as conserve.

For naught the times, nor beckoning's concur
that shoulder decorated stood its ground,
some rite of passage, measures not impure
or guesses at my fancy, or my frowned!

How steady in some answer of reserve
would guarantee its effort, so unbound,
that resolution's comfort not deserve
or its entailment daily ne'er impound!

Is freedom such an answer, I not need
when life holds such encumbrance up her sleeve,
prescribe me not, in entities concede
but brave begot ~ a childhood of bereave!

The Sentry, grasp the plot ~ remit, receive
to bear it all, a blossom of Faith's core
that from behind, attacks are so conceive
the narrowing's remind, an open door!

The harrowing of purging not refined
a net of undeniable content,
the message straight from cowardly assign
and from its framework, instigates resent!

That Hell be guarded once, and so confined
the nature of the whore that so compels,
is tempting of man's nature, so inclined
and reconciles its effort, "all is well!"

And so it be, prerogative regress
is functioned only lightly to incline
to rob my thought, my enemies redress
and matter less, to only spend my time!

Forfeits agenda, reconciles, climbs
that merit of dissension leaves encore,
all but that host's dimension steeps unbind
revolving with ascension ~ perish more ~

And tumbles its direction ~ out of line!

To be continued ~ The Sentry Rhymes ~ Dangerous times.

Note ~ Guard duty is one of the most sensitive, and loyal of commitments.
Such as that of a noble entity, a queen, an endangered person, or even
a family, spouse, children. Today our protection needs to be more loving,
more personal & caring, not back turning, and avoiding. Our own National
Guard need to be here, at home, on board, with their reason intact, and not
forged from some idealistic, protectionist bourgeois ~ needing to be
everywhere else!

Spring winds blow their sound,
Winter now is bound.
Knees in,
Melted, sludgy-browned,
Green peaks through the ground.
These in,
Nature's own impound,
Exiled now, grave mound,
Squeeze in.

Snow tries to reason,
Get one last freeze in,
Surprise!
Vernal, yet weazen,
March smells a treason,
The lies!
Mad by degrees in,
Arrogant season,
Reign skies!

Hasten Cold's demise,
February spies,
Be drowned.
Viridescent eyes,
Vegetation rise,
Be gowned,
Prep and lionize,
Time yields yearly prize,
Be crowned!

Civil War Battle

Pulsating honor doth corroded hearts impound
A blustery breeze echoes cries from each, preceding battleground
A recurring, eager parade of reporters, gawkers freely roam distant mound
Below, fatigued, tidy mass of steeled infantry; to death's throes bound
Neighing horses conditioned to mayhem the pageantry doth confound
On opposite ridges, mounted turrets prepared hell's fury to expound
On signal, a synchronized, concussive chorus doth its dark melody propound
Scraps of metal shards initiate; commencing another, toilsome round
After lengthy barrage, wits collected a more lethal volley to stound
Familiar, urgent order to charge christens hallowed ground
With youthful ardor a wide-eyed bugler doth the bridled expanse unbound
Shrieking rancor from recoiling rifles; a familiar anthem doth resound
Recurring cacophonous medley, weathered nerves drowned
Once more, a mass of flesh surges into the abyss with mortal hopes crowned
Anon, shattered limbs; gory wounds misery's cache compound

Personal, Passionate Truth

Olfactory, gustatory flight of mind chemicals
 Ransom on a molecular taste
Fallen flowers abscond with recent soil
Burning candle oil to reminisce the paste

Its all leather and feather
 Strap some animal sound
 To make your carpet alive
 Slinging carpeter's paint through hides

A cave in the carcass never bought or sold
 Our marker is the target
 To relive ample thought
Cash memory bounty with forgotten lambs

Slurpy through seaform mercury
The sea creatures in soupy climbing
Mixed up elements stashed on paper
 Making houses and grave scrawlings

Bacon to banish the stress
Dumping down a one way mess
 Township to impound thought
 And go about its pattern

Its alright, its lather for babes
 The construct we navigate through
Can never touch our personal, passionate truth

My Florida Vacation

If you're trying to push your Coupe' DeVille
from Panama City to Jacksonville
You've got to journey through Gadsden County.
So you better mind your P's and Q's
if you plan on driving through
and keep both eyes wide open for the County Mounty.
'Cause Gadsden County Jail's no place to be
it's overcrowded and dirty and it smells like pee
and every dime you have will surely be taken away.
They'll impound your car and arrest your wife
the kids will all get twenty-five to life
and your family will surely rue the day
You decided to take a Florida Vacation
and you all came back sentenced to probation
just because Gadsden County was on your way.
If you're guilty or not doesn't matter with them
their bank accounts are mighty slim
and they're gonna get your money whatever it takes.
There's a booking fee just to get you in
you gotta pay for your food which is awfully thin
so friend, avoid Gadsden County for goodness sake.

A Walk Through the Snowy Copse

Into the snow white castle only tepid feet bound
Head mirror of quilted bed reflects a glimmering compound
Satin blanket spreads over each frozen mound
A blinding glare from the silted bed doth rebound
With each heavy step mist arises from fluffed goose down
Arching o'er head a crystalline canopy doth crown
The hooded frames as glowing sentinels ballast ground
The woody rails in their icy coat of arms surround
As tempest blows, crackling arms in groaning chorus resound
From portholes beaming, frozen pellets wayfarers confound
Alighting from pillowy perches, Red-shouldered hawks with wings unwound
Strafe the bystanders; with their prickly dander doth hound
A fibrous parapet of occluded, twining roots shields ground
Each truant sole straying from the beaten path will impound
Buried stumps as pulpy landmines on periphery abound
The errant, plodding heel with shocking pain to redound
Pace must quicken in the late afternoon stound
Dusk's chilling tides o'er snowy copse leaves laggards spellbound
As the last rays of light funnel into
the background
Enchanting visions of woodland nymphs mind's eye doth astound

Variations On a Theme

An underlying theme
breathing sleepy, ice clear and blue
to stop you in your tracks
on a warm summer night,
after having pulled into the driveway
under the honey suckle awning
and hummingbird flutters-
To wait.
To plug up the windows with glass
and crank up the cold air.
To listen.
As sound waves on a variation
impound this lost soul
to redemption's hand,
buying back a love of music
and it's depth.
Ralph Vaughn Williams
at his best-
a weaver on a theme
by Thomas Tallis.
The introduction to a love,
sure to be life long,
of symphonic surges
which stop you, still and silent
before you can perform your next deed.
Let the onlookers in the house
wonder on.
Let them ask themselves:
"Is she okay? She's been sitting
in that car for a long time..."

For, when you arrive
(moments before your actual
psyche quiets down from the beauty)
they will see your smile,
and know with suddenness
that you have tasted goodness and purity,
and have bought back the rights
to your own "forever" -
just variations on a theme of life.

Ghost Town

There’s only ghosts in this town
I’m so close to a break down
I don’t even want you around
When you’re here i’m always feeling down
Just let me drown
I don’t wanna be found
I didn’t know that I was hell bound

Guess we’ll learn when we’re buried in the ground
Don’t try to get with me, I’m not a rebound
I don’t blend in with a crowd
They say I’m weird, well I’m proud
I don’t wanna be like you I’m not what ur about
You’re always faking, well I’ve had my doubts
Sitting alone in my house
In my head the demons they shout
Got my love in a drought
No one cares about me without a doubt
A world where being different isn’t allowed
Gotta find a difference and make it known loud

There’s only ghosts in this town
I’m so close to a break down
I don’t even want you around
When you’re here I’m always feeling down
Just let me drown
I don’t wanna be found
I didn’t know that I was hell bound

You took my heart like an impound
Listened to the hate that surrounds
Like all the fake friends
They popular by trends
Soon you’ll all meet your end
While I ascend
To a higher plane
Always living in pain
But I’m numbed up like nova-cane
I’m always anything but sane
All these drugs in my brain
Will I be okay?

Will I be okay?

Will I be okay?

Poem Lost

The bard had just penned a ballad profound
and stroking his beard, this clumsy word-hound
just spilled his last beer on pages unbound.
A marvelous monorhyme sits uncrowned.

Deluged under streams of thoughts that still hound,
I venture to guess the piece has just drowned
from rainclouds of doubt with thunderous sound
from faraway lightning seeking a ground,

Now mopping up foam, he waits to impound
damp shadowy reservoirs which redound
to poetic skill reserved and renowned,
concealed in debris, its burial mound.

Like nebulous chords which cannot be found
his poem is lost with drinks he just downed.
Can there be a way to use ultrasound
to track fickle brainstorms flitting around?

Hold

Immortal rebound, hold the loss
of grace in kind, I so repent,
some answering of heart's dissent
surrounds with moral ego's gloss!

In constancy, the voice impound
in aggravating columns hound,
Oh, Peace, help me not so resent
the efforts wailing, loudness bound!

This vision's counsel, learned sake
what reprimand, which stand to take,
the diplomatic goal to wit
unknowing outcome, franchised fit?

To live hope's vision, contemplate
while words assailing hinder sound,
the throw of it not duplicate
by speaking not . . . I hold my ground!
