Premium Member Living With a Mentally Handicapped Grandson
In the middle of the night a door slams
The awful scent of cigarettes floats upward penetrates my nostrils
Insomnia keeps him up and restless
Lying here I hear, smell and know that the worst is yet to come

Huntington's Disease slowly destroys brain cells
Mutant form of huntingtin aggregrates...

Handicapped
They don’t want to talk about it
so I learned not to talk about it
after all, why would they
want to hear it
want to discuss it
After all, they have daughters
After all, they have sons
and grandsons
and granddaughters
of their own…

Like a phantom limb:
A leg ripped loose
or an arm
or...

Fakers
Fraudsters
Frankenstein's

Come on please
in your wheelchairs
so what?

No knees, big deal
you have so many abbreviations
more than eye

Show offs with your big wheels
missing body parts here and there
virus and bacteria attacking you everywhere

So what? is what I say
why do you all steal my label
you two handed freaks

Stop...

Handicapped
slow slime
nothing like before

Unto you un-glue
this ugly face.

While I wait
for resurrection
I may even
pierce my own hands

Churches wither
and I make pavement

Void of answers
is my speech impediment.

Salaam ! / Kudos ! (Ode To the Handicapped)
!

Cruel God’s crooked clasp,
Is worse than the sting of a wasp,
Genius, healthy, wealthy man,
Becomes an orphan and forlorn!

Childhood innocent,
Youth fragrant,
Tranquil prime,
Become a weird dream!

Defies God’s clout,
Becomes fear-less ‘n’ stout,
Undertakes an uphill task,
And reaches the mountaintop!

Handicapped albeit,
Dares God’s verdict,
Proves the worth by his action,
He is worthy...

No Such Thing As Handicapped
(9/23/14)

Born deaf and not a sound to be heard
Sign language was her only words
Longing to hear any sound at all, even the bouncing of a ball
To know what it would be like to hear a robin sing
And the sounds of early spring.
She learned to read...

Handicapped Ant
Handicapped Ant

Five legged ant walks awkwardly into obstacles
Around rocks, gravel, while stumbling to the field
Peculiar, odd, not in a normal way by any stretch
Strangely staggering, maneuvering, seeking incognito

Ant is challenged by its height as well, for being small ...

Handicapped Mary
Mary had a little hand
She kept it in her pocket
Sheep and people laughed at her
Odd fingers running through her golden lockets

Too much turmoils
Make me fatique
Too much chaos
Make me deaf
Too much tragedies
Make me blind
My mind jammed
My heart broken
I have nothing to say anymore
Years after years hazards come and go and return
Silence is the only word on my lips
The fan blades turn and turn
No noise but efficient
Noisy...
