The Greatness of Africa

When I look at the Nile or Niger
My heart overflows with joy for such a wonder
As currents daringly flow on each iconic river
Every fountain has wealth embedded in its waters
Each mountain, sealed by the richness of history
This is the reason I recognize a path
A path filled with promises
Promises to make Africa great
In fact, Africa is already great
What a marvellous sight to behold!

Imagine a variety of wildlife in Togo
Comforting sounds of birds across Comoros
Outstanding presence of gazelles in Cameroon
Supernatural nests of swallows from epic Chad
Historical archives found in artistic Mali
Fashion trending all the way from Malawi
Magical flavour of Sea Cuisine from sanctified Senegal
Amazing pyramids in the gifted land of Sudan
Breath-taking desert all over Sahara
Beautiful girls dancing malembe in the colourful Sibasa
Bubbly boys playing in the busy streets of Kinshasa
Men brewing special coffee near corners of Mombasa
Women beading around some parts of Luanda
Elders sharing stories in the hearty homes of Rwanda
Lovely smiles from the stunning faces of Eritrea
Heartfelt love from the people of Liberia
Eternal Spirit of Ubuntu in Tanzania
Eye-catching mosaics around Tunisia
Vibrant Traces of Culture in Namibia
Incredible wisdom in The Gambia
Sweet melodies from Ghana
Sacred Forests in Uganda
Serene Oceans of Madagascar
Super Eagles soaring higher in Abuja
Special works of art from Addis Ababa
So many diamonds around Botswana
Abundant copper from magnificent Zambia
Hidden Treasures in Zimbabwe

This is no ordinary continent
But a place of contentment
Everyone who comes here
Is welcome at a first glance
By the greatness of Africa!

Oh What a Good God

He gave me life
Without Him
I have nothing to live for
He sleeps not nor slumber
He watches over me
In the midst of thunder
I do not fear
Right in the valley
He holds my hand so tight
He protects me
From the snare of the fowler
When I go through a dense storm
He is with me
In the frost hours of winter
He warms me up
When summer comes
He keeps me still
When I am down
He picks me up
When in doubt
He reassures my mind
That things will be all right
In times of despair
He restores my hope
As I run out of words
He keeps reaching out to me
Even when too frail to approach Him
He changes my story through His Word
When too weak to run my race
He gives me strength through His grace
I do not lack anything
He provides my every need
I trust in Him
For He entrusted me with His love
He is only a prayer away
Always ready to listen and answer
Oh, what a good God!

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Gugu and Momo

shared a strange reality made from footsteps
the land of spirit being open to improvisation
with existence a fountain of plenty for all
too much meaning too much of the time
is it not true to the self of selves that
suffering to one is suffering to all
they patiently awaited the great emancipation
which had been delayed more than once
due to their sharing the long end of the telescope
and other subjects that must never be spoken of
a non accomplishment of great relevance
life being a charade a painted wooden pony
whose surprise discovery was immanent
due to its continents of piled bones
ticking and tocking the smell of sulfur
Gu and Mo expectantly gazed edgewise
into the murk of their own apparition
which was clomp clomping nearer and nearer
beset by dread they clutched close
and waited for the final tap on the shoulder
hello bright pilgrims it was Calliope
muse to the amused and the wretched
a necessary duet if the one is to survive the other
she was an enduring oasis of song
in a measureless rattlesnake desert
planets and their luminous suns
capered about her ruby lit hair
drink from my breasts children she rued
you have just begun your confluence of chance
to wrench the Earth from its socket
a darkest lamentable catalog of crime
GuGu and MoMo gripped one another
eyes frozen for all time wide open
how can this be Mo went Gu
thank the nice lady Gu went Mo
and they both came to the mutual agreement
 that they should start counting.

What More Could I Ask For

Great blessing of my life
When I see you smile
I realize all the time
How favoured I am that you are mine
Thank you for being on my side
My beautiful sunshine
Shining star at night
Bright light in the dark

You make my world a better place
And you bring so much peace
My strength when I am weak
For you, I stay on my knees
Wish you would see how it feels
As I walk on the streets
Knowing that you are a part of me
Of you, I am proud indeed

As a Mother, I still wonder
What I have done
To be graced with a special gift
Altogether treasured
My place of comfort
I know God has been kind
By giving me such a child
What more could I ask for?

A Woman of Virtue

Woman of Virtue

She could be as still as a statue
But unapologetically vibrant
Even in her silence
She exudes confidence
Yet, so humble

She runs her race with courage
Because she has a clear picture
Of where she is going
She knows who she is
And what she really wants

She understands what her worth signifies
Extremely dignified
Many odds she defies
She has influence that no one denies
No matter where she goes, she prospers

She makes life so much better
Never doubts her own power
She whose face shines brighter
Such a paragon of splendour
That always attracts God’s favour

Committed to excellence
Crowned with brilliance
Clothed by abundance
Cloaked in resilience
Conquers any turbulence

She is someone I look up to
A woman of virtue

A Powerful Woman: Ode To My Wonderful Mother

When a powerful woman departs from this world
She leaves behind a great legacy
While she rests in eternal peace
Because her entire life was lived not only for herself
But for countless generations to come

When a powerful woman departs from this world
Although her loved ones shed tears
They still look back and appreciate
As they affectionately remember
What she has done for them

When a powerful woman departs from this world
Indeed, the Mighty hand of God is seen
Through how she ran her race
Under Divine the Divine Grace
Which leads her to the Promised Land

When a powerful woman departs from this world
Her beautiful memories remain
Her wonderful contribution embraced
Her colourful name celebrated
By those whose lives she changed
When a powerful woman departs from this world, no one can dispute that she made her mark

My Precious Child

If I had pearls or petalites
Few emeralds
Countless tanzanite
Some diamonds
Sizeable gold
And granite

So, if I had all of that
On my hands
All over my place
Signed under my name
Would that replace you?
No ways, not at all

You are a special being in my life
Positioned by God’s Divine design
A gift that I treasure
Oh, no! I cannot chase after fortune
I am the most fortunate
To be your Mother

Yes, you make my days shine brighter
I embrace the bliss you brought along
Through you, I gained wisdom
Among other things in this world
You carry so much worth
With you I found wealth

That is why I appreciate
For so many reasons
Throughout the seasons
We have been winning
Hence, I need you so much
My precious child!

Mothers Are So Wonderful

We are the ones who carry babies for months
We feel anxiety of an upcoming delivery
We do our best to keep them healthy
We worry the most when they are thirsty
We rescue them when hungry

We are the ones who look after them, for the sake of their well-being
We ensure our kids’ lives are worthwhile
We find ways to provide optimum care
We are patient in seeing them grow older
Yes, they always run to us for cover

We are the ones who are called names when things go wrong with our children
But given no credit when they excel in life
We create conductive environments all the time
We bravely take the bullet for our loved ones
We brace raging storms on their behalf

We are the ones who walk miles
In search of better opportunities for our offspring
We sleep very late and wake up too early
We guide them to achieve great things
We say prayers for them to prosper

God was right to entrust women with childbearing because Mothers are so wonderful

Thank You Mama: From the Child Who Was Almost Aborted

I look back at a time
When I was too young to decide
She had the power to choose
If I could make it or not
And I had to oblige
The doctors told her
They had to terminate me
To save her life
She had to think fast
How she would live
With her conscience afterwards?
Knowing she had killed her own child?

She went on her knees
Until her prayers were answered
Through her kindness, I was saved
That is why I appreciate
Yes, I praise the God of Heaven
For giving my Mother the strength
To carry me to the surface of Mother-Earth
And not beneath it
A great privilege that I left her belly alive

I could have died
Before being counted among the living
I would not be part of creation
Nor exist in this generation
Would have had
My dreams suppressed
My parent’s freedom oppressed
My mission deprived
And her vision denied
So glad that all odds, we defied

Here I am, to fully testify
How precious it is
To be given a chance in this world
I am forever grateful
To my Mother who chose not to abort me
From the bottom of my heart
All I can say is, thank you, Mama!

Lord Bless My Child

I was blessed with a precious gift
Beautiful and sweet
God’s grand masterpiece
She brought me peace
And made me believe
So much in the Lord
My life is filled with joy
Through this lovely Soul
A beam of hope
I know she will grow
Become so great
Yes, I will be glad
To see her prosper
As she set foot on Earth
I pray with a sincere heart
Please, Lord bless my child

How Shall I Ever Thank You: Ode To My Precious Mother

For saving my life
When there was a plot to end it

For loving me
When I felt unloved

For treating me with kindness
When some were unkind

For standing by my side
When it was not easy

For providing support
When I needed you so much

For brightening up my days
As I faced dark clouds

For finding solutions
When I went through challenges

For offering courage
When I was afraid

For bringing me hope
When I was in despair

For showing me the way
When I went astray

For being able to pray
When I needed a prayer

For everything you have done
How shall I ever thank you?

Prayer Works: Lessons From a Prayerful Mother

In the darkest hour of the night
During the hardest time of life
When unsure if things will be all right
You should pray!

When your mind lacks peace
And your heart is too broken to beat
When you struggle to stand on your feet
You ought to pray!

When some things do not make sense
And everyone close becomes distant
When your faith is shaken in an instant
You must pray!

When the sun is about to set
And your noontime is filled with tears
When the midnight is covered with fear
Wake up and pray!

When in the battlefield
And you have misplaced your shield
When there is no sign you could win
Look upon the hills and pray!

When the race becomes too long
And you cannot keep going on
When everything seems over
Kneel and pray!

For prayer will
Put you back together
Set you in a good place forever
Keep you going no matter what
Give you something to smile about
Remove the weight off your shoulders
Relieve you from discomfort
Heal even a gaping wound
Help you follow the right way
Take you through another day
Each and every day
Remember to pray
Because prayer works!

God Bless the Queen Mother: Ode To Her Majesty

God bless the Queen Mother
Grant her many years of life
We need her in our lives
Show her everlasting love
Cover her with power from Above

God bless the Queen Mother
A descendant of royalty
As she goes in and out of the city
To serve with loyalty and dignity
May she have serenity

God bless the Queen Mother
Whether down the valley or up the hill
In the battlefield, may she win
Please keep her still
As she honours your will

God bless the Queen Mother
Throughout seasons
Wherever she goes
And whatever she does
Let her be favoured

God bless the Queen Mother!

A Special Prayer For Mothers

To all the Mothers,
Who stand for what is right
They work so hard!
Never let the weather dictate
How they love their children
Always there whenever needed
Do what is best for loved ones

Yes, they guide leaders to reign in peace
Cry out to God to save future generations
As they plead for true liberation
A reliable source of inspiration
Not ordinary humans
But special women
Whom we call Moms

Fighters of hunger
Seekers of well-being
Promoters of longevity
Providers of stability
Pioneers of societies
Pillars of many countries
Teachers of morals and values

We pray for their blessings
And breakthroughs in all they do!
This is our special prayer for Mothers
