Lament For Greta

LAMENT FOR GRETA

Her reaction was spontaneous as of youth
With emotion’s certainty near tangible
Sought to patronize and brook no other truth
Revelation that she knew must be infallible

Through the portal of the ether her word spread
She would navigate with skill above her league
Little known beyond fixation in her head
She was just a puppet in a great intrigue

Twelve years on should Earth still flourish spite all strife
Will she bless not curse that vapour that brings life

Greta Thunberg

Greta Thunberg
you have a heart of gold
unfortunately, there are those
with a heart, that is cold

You stand up, for what is right
using your proud voice
that helps us all fight
the human destruction plight

You have the support of your family
as they back you up yearly
and you have support of many
who are your back up family

You have the passion
when others, just want aspersion
as you care, about all life
when others, only care for their life

When you speak to the masses
I get chills down my spine
as you are so inspiring
with your honest logical thinking

Your care for Mother Nature
is all about our future
but the political economic culture
is ruining our agriculture

Mother Nature is life
and your part in our strive
is helping us with might
for our future to be bright

Greta Thunberg, thank you
you are a star, for all life

Premium Member Nature: This Greta Thunberg Equinox

Today a youth of the world stood up,
Stood up against fat money cats,
And stared them down with words made of real,
Accountable ecological facts,

About how the fat future of money is ending,
A future without any trees,
How mass extinction is occurring today,
With cash from the coal power disease,

And she stood alone, shaking against hate,
Forcing fu***rs like Trump to run,
Back to his hordes of redneck support,
Of religious who think he’s “The One”,

Today a small girl, who hates crowds of people,
Stood alone and said what she said,
Demanding we all stand and give back her hope,
And I stood because she is our friend.

Premium Member Oh Greta, Dear Greta

O Greta, dear Greta of Huskey Mountain Road,
If I loved you more, my heart would explode.
It has been a blessing to know you this year,
To watch you grow bigger and ever more dear.

I can’t hold a candle to love that is true,
A love that would die for both me and for you.
The universe expands; it never contracts;
That’s God making room for the love he enacts,

And all the small children whom He calls His own,
He calls them by name, before they have grown.
For all else is rubbish, yes, all else debris,
Compared to the knowledge that Christ’s calling me.

And so, my dear Greta, I fervently pray
The gift of salvation is coming your way.

Premium Member Miss Greta G

Regrettably, Miss Greta G
must use a broom to clean her room;
she let the pigs come play, you see
for they were neat, so she assumed.
How learned she this? Not clear by whom.
I think I may have, I confess,
so I shall help clean up the mess.

I think ’twas from the book she saw,
a pig whose house was made of sticks,
another one was made of straw;
the last of course, was made of bricks.
On seeing these three piles, it clicks,
but how the pigs got from the barn?
Now that should be a tangled yarn.

She nearly pulled the whole thing off;
the cat is out, for here’s the deal:
Although I had my headphones on,
as I passed by, I heard a squeal,
and caught a whiff with porcine feel.
And now dear Greta’s rather mad,
And I’m the wolf, mean, big and bad.

Ode To Wee Greta

I'm sorry young lady your future has gone
Capitalism's done irreversible wrong
Not in my name, I shout from the roof top
I've been fighting the same fight,
Hoping one day it'll stop

Poison our food our water our air
Capitalism's the cause
Cause of despair
Profit before health
Is the capitalist way
Death creates wealth
With urban decay
Our planet is dying
It's on its knees
Our air is polluted
Bringing more disease
Not in my name, I shout from the roof top
I've been fighting the same fight,
Hoping one day it'll stop
Our oceans are filthy
Rivers unclean
Trees disappearing
Decimation of green
Palm oil, soya
Cattle and gas
Deforestation now on mass
Ice caps are melting
Permafrost thawing
Sea levels rising
Species declining
Weather's changing
For the worse
Getting hotter, colder
Unpredictable more diverse
This is the world that's been left to you
All for the profits of the 1% few

I'm sorry young lady your future has gone
Capitalism's done irreversible wrong
Not in my name, I shout from the roof top
I've been fighting the same fight
Hoping one day it'll stop

Greta Garbo

Greta Garbo
by R.e. Taylor

I know you wish to be anonymous
To never be seen again
But the world will not allow that to happen
I know it may be presumptuous of me to say
At one time, you were a beauty beyond compare
A talent that anyone else would only envy
You may have lost your looks and your talent
And you locked yourself away because of it
But Miss Garbo you are still hiding in there
Just look at your reflection and you will see her
And I know that she still loves her fans
So, just once before you die
Come out into the open
Leave your fears behind
And just tell us the good bye you never told us
We may cry but not for our loss
We will cry because we will know you still care
And that will be what we will remember about you

Premium Member An Ode To Greta Thunberg

An ode to Greta Thunberg

Where’s Greta Thunberg?
I’ve missed her daily rant
I guess she’s back in Sweden
outside a nuclear plant
Or is she content and satisfied
the CO levels are down
Or is she modelling in Vogue
her drabbest dressing gown?
Where is Greta Thunberg?
the world's a quieter place
Two more years of shut down
and we’ll never see her face
Sweden is lucky to have her,
a visionary sure as hell
In ten years, they’ll say her name
and it won’t ring a bell
Please stay in isolation
with whoever writes your view
And takes all your money,
you’ve made a million or two
The world's a better place now,
your work is surely done
Let’s finish the kid's protests
and let them have some fun.

Premium Member Greta My Sweet

Greta
Naked and raw
Real, laid bare
Speaking a truth
Not heard here
For thirty years
Greta
I once knew
Another like you
Young and now
I can only weep
For your return
However fleeting
Greta my sweet

After Greta Robinson

Shine at the centre of all of our hearts
No longer together but never apart
May your love fill us up at each new day start
Til we too, sleep the sleep of angels

Make the World Greta Again

Make the world Greta again.

The world is on fire and you just sit there getting higher.
Inhaling the pollution, you are no solution.
Neither are you the answer, but you can change the question.
I call you a prancer, because you are dancing around the suggestion,
That this should not be, we are not the disease,
But we are the cause, so to you and yours,
I say it is time to talk, stand up and walk.
Have your meetings and save us all,
From our self-made Hell, you need to tell,
Every generation, about the climate reaction.
It is in every nation, we need satisfaction,
Not false promises; listen to the kids…

We need a world of Greta’s, live life for the better,
Of all mankind; now is the time.
Sign on the dotted line; show us all you have a spine.
We have to rebel because you do not care.
You love your wealth and steal our air.
So you can either get rich and fail to breathe,
Or you can give our little planet exactly what it needs.
Stop the flights? It happened over night.
Deforestation? The tree’s should not have to be rationed.
Realization? It’s in front of your eyes; can you not see our passion?

We have to protest because you failed the test.
You have to act; surely you have all seen the facts.
Australia burned down, yet now winter is back.
Covid stopped the flights, now snow is in sight.
This didn’t happen for most of my life.
We love all this sun, but it blinds us from the gun,
That is pointing at our world, and it ain’t so young,
But the youth have spoken, your system is broken.
Let the nations unite…we are running out of time…

Premium Member A Sonnet Variation For Greta

This run of good days is going to end
bad times are coming just around the bend
cash in your chips, there ain’t no tomorrow
future holds only worry and sorrow.

Armageddon of our own creation
as we burn in pyres of self-cremation
caught in words of convenient denial
grasp not the flash of the truthteller’s smile.

Yet from the rubble, a New Deal is made
Fridays for Future, a children’s crusade
as those whose time has come, now realise
elder’s inaction has darkened their skies.

We who’ve failed in our prognostication
pass the stick to a new generation.

Greta, a Child, Weeps

GRETA WEPT

She wept but it wasn’t just crying
It was the kind of weeping that makes you feel her profound pain
He could not stand the tears in her oval eyes
But as a businessman he was late for a meeting
and had no time to soothe her deep ache

She was a beautiful soul
But she lacked aplomb in her teen hippy outfit
She cried because she had read three billion birds had died
She cared about animals going extinct and the planet dying

She could not abide the mounting casualties of animals and humans
Could not listen to the loud din of profit motive incentives
That were destroying the environment
She admonished mindless corporations and politicians
That it would be better for the world if business was done differently

The necessity to earn money to live should be curtailed
The environment is essential to all
All people are important
And money should not be the imperative

Out of mental malaise and stifling curse of greed
Money had become too important
But that model is not working today
It’s time for a new paradigm

Community always works better when it comes together
Compassion cannot be had from corporations or even government
Benevolence should be the order of the day
Human values that cover the vastness of earth’s total environment

Hearing that the population was getting involved
The young girl stopped crying
With cooperation and working together, she thought,
We can work miracles

And it came to pass
The world did come together
It had taken the young to show the old the light, the way
To see and comprehend the benevolent grace of caring

Premium Member Hans and Greta

Hans had been raised to believe you protect your woman at all costs
His father was a warrior king, and instilled this in him since his first dawn.
Today his ideals were hidden, squirreled away, possibly even a bit lost
As his wife-to-be jumped into the fray, facing the monster head-on.

He had been startled when she raced around him and began to fight.
The monster bared his teeth, and growled; he was a ferocious sight.
But Greta held her ground, and backed him into shadows so dark.
Hans rushed in to help, but she was holding her own against this mark.

She fought with the brave heart of at least six valiant men.
She did not back down, she had this monster cornered within.
The monster let out a screech, a wail, and a siren’s sound.
The confused darkness in the shadows enveloped her all around.

Hans was terrified for her, this warrior, full of rage and power.
He could barely see what was happening, at this final hour
To a beast, who fell hard on her blade in this foreign land
For Greta had been raised to believe you protect your man
