A Greener Grass

You think I have a pretty face

My dresses weaved from frills and lace

You think that I'm a spoilt brat

with diamonds around my neck

and roses in my bed

You think I own the pot of gold

A blissful future to behold

You think I live on a greener grass

but you know nothing

No ,you know nothing about my past

There are chapters still on hold

A thousand words untold

There's emotion still enclosed in a lacrimal drop

There is a tasteless tale,a colourless spume

and large waves that fall on the shore

There's a silent cry which keeps yelling why

which keeps loving and hating, mending and breaking

Pushing ,embracing our God

My unfaithful devotion keeps begging in motion

Asking what,where,when,and how long

For how long should I wait for

to feel the affection, love and protection

to listen to daddy singing for me

just one birthday song

For how long should I pray for,to listen to daddy

just calling out my name on the phone

You think I have a pretty face

My dresses weaved from frills and lace

You think that I'm a spoilt brat

with diamonds around my neck

and roses in my bed

You think I own the pot of gold

A blissful future to behold

You think I live on a greener grass

but you know nothing

No, you know nothing about my past

You know nothing about the way I feel

About deep scars that would never heal

You just keep thinking that I live

I live on a greener grass.

A Greener Pasture

Though my stall here is empty now
If you listen close...
You can hear me running through a greener pasture
Your sorrow opens the gate and releases me free
Thank you for rescuing me from worldly darkness
And giving me love unsurpassed
So that I may now run with others so loved...
But never forgotten
I am a child again young and lean my spirit afire
And oh how our spirits thrive here
Never again to feel the pain of the earth
Hear me running!
For your tears have watered the grasses for me
In God's Greener Pasture

Greener Pastures

Fleeing into dark night, I run
A truth not wholly accepted
A promise breaking as I write
One story ends, one rejected

I question my decisions now
Fleeing into dark night, I run
Rejection sets me on my way
As to wishes I did have one

The broken mirror reflects all
A dream remaining but no time
Fleeing into dark night, I run
Only one madness to my rhyme

I run far, always looking back
No hope remains under the sun
Great sentiment jolted off track
Fleeing into dark night, I run

The Grass Is Greener Where You Water It

The grass is greener where you water it
By Michelle Morris
13/03/2022

The grass is greener where you water it
That's where it will keep on growing
It always seems so obvious
That we assume this sense of knowing

But often we forget
That the simplest actions count
By taking one step each day
We can move forward in our lives

The grass is greener where you water it
It's greener 'cos you did the work
You paid attention and made an effort
Put actions to your thoughts

So, don't be looking
So far to the other side
Thinking it'll be so much better
If you aren't prepared to pay the price

The grass is greener where you water it
Consistent action every day
It's lush and bright, and beautiful
Because you gave it your best play

Make the time and effort
Give it everything you've got
And one day you'll look back
And appreciate your growth

The grass is greener on the other side,
So sit on the fence and watch them collide,
The geese fly south to a kinder climate,
As we philosophise to find our fate.

Many say religion shall save your soul,
And this is fine if you wish to be whole,
I'll drift into the mystery unknown,
Planting all my seeds but keep some unsown.

While reap I shall from above and below,
Never knowing truly which way to go,
Keeping my eye on the prize, so to speak,
Remain a gentle man, one of the meek.

Continue down my path till my demise,
Hoping one day I shall call myself wise.

She stood there and slooshed on the grass at her feet
She’d have to move forward before she dared eat
She walked a few paces to discover that
Some other cow had left a foul splat

Wherever she looked there was piddle or poo
And that was the moment she knew what to do
She looked at the grass which was drying and brown
She might well have cringed but a cow cannot frown

She went to the river to drink some clean water
Across it, the farmer, his wife and his daughter
Live in a house with a lush green lawn
The greenest she’d seen since the day she was born

But why should she settle for this frazzled field
When over the river, a bounteous yield
Well she had to go where she had to go
And then in the water was hit by the flow

She struggled against it, her progress was slow
But she battled on to where green grass does grow
Why should the farmer keep it to himself
When cows were the subject of all of his wealth

The river was raging, the current was strong
She aimed for the lawn so she didn't go wrong
And finally clambered the opposite side
Astounded she’d managed a river so wide

She pushed herself out and up onto the bank
And looked back across to where the grass stank
She’ll savour this green grass for all it is worth
She took her first mouthful...
Yuk...

The road not travelled
Seems like the better one.
We doubt out choices
Thinking we've missed the fun.

The grass is greener
On the other side they say.
But those on the other side
Think we've found the better way.

People aren't content,
They think they've missed out.
Being thankful for what you have
Is what it's really all about.

The grass growing on this side
Is the same as over there.
Finding someone happy
With his lot in life is rare.

A Way To Greener Pastures

My words echo back to me
Off barren walls
Through empty halls
Find no hearing ears this eve
Except my own
I'm quite alone.

Soon perhaps I'll leave this place
For greener fields
'Cross distant hills
And never happen back this way
Except in thought
For lessons taught.

I'll follow perchance this gale
That birthed my soul
And kept the coals of hope aglow
A peaceful breeze that fills my sails
And safely takes me
Across seas of animosities.

Here the grass has all but died
And turned to brown
Exposing bare ground
No longer can my roots be tied
I'll leave the wind the master
To choose a way to greener pastures.

                                Timothy I. Brumley

Just in case any of my fans are wondering, I wrote this poem in 1979 just
before coming back from overseas during my enlistment in the Air Force.
The breeze, or gale, mentioned above represents the Holy Spirit.

The Grass Isnt Always Greener On the Other Side

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side

Your problems seem bad but theirs are overgrown so easy to hide

You want to convert because you feel the need

You never know what their mistakes entail because you didn’t see them plant the
seed

You think their dirt is better be a little wiser

They might not be growing well for the lack of a fertilizer

They cut away too much with their knife

Did they get enough of the essence of life

Now they might sit on a useless mound

While your grass is adequate because it has good roots in the ground

So be happy with what you have and find peace and joy inside

Remember the grass isn’t always greener on the other side

I really like that grass, on that side of the fence
It's so luxurious, It looks compact and dense

I imagine me sitting, over there on my ass
Comfy and so cozy, that is my kind of grass

Mine is dissapointing, some may think it's obcene
It's not like my neighbors, his is completely green

Everything looks better, looking over that way
He works to improve it, by working night and day

So now I realize, My brown yard is okay
Green grass is too much work, I would much rather play

The Grass Is Greener Through the Noose

Deep in the cave inside my heart
Is the place you'll never be
It's sealed and locked forever now
Because you threw away the key

You've stolen all my faith in life
And my ability to love
I have no big accomplishments
Or accolades to be proud of

Remember when we got ****-faced
and went to New York City?
You left your sweater in the cab
and it got really chilly

We barely caught the train back home
You fell asleep in my arms
You cuddled close and held my hand
And drew me in with your charms

But in your sleep, you called his name
I should have figured by then
But I was naive and stupid
Because I trusted you again

As much as I want to tell you
What you really did to me,
I can't because what comes to mind
Are those sights I can't unsee

And all the while you were seeing him
As our "love" continued to grow
I thought that this was all my fault
But it was YOU I didn't know

You left me for another man
Wait, that's not exactly right
It's more like I walked in on you
Betraying my trust that night.

So I'll be forced to live with this
Well, not for very long
I hope you get what you deserve
Because you were in the wrong

Nothing will matter anymore
Not once I've tightened this noose
Everything will fade into black
And I'll be free from life's abuse

The Grass Is Always Greener

Today I saw the sun shine through
And smiling happy faces
Moving on and never looking back
Takes you to wonderful places.

They say the grass is greener
On the other side of life
But we should enjoy what's on offer
Free from trouble and strife.

We found a comforting road there
But now it seems to have gone
Better to stay on your own side
It doesn't matter which one.

Being human we are never satisfied
We'll always aspire for something new
The world could be a better place
But then again, “Not always true”.

Grass Is Greener

Maybe I am looking at things just a little wrong
Being alone through life isn't really what makes you strong
If life leads you in deeper and deeper
It's just taking you to where life is a little greener
A little richer, a little fuller, cream puff alley
To where lifes cares and worries are just a little fickle falley
Maybe I am wrong, makes me feel as if I am strong
Question still is how long I am willing to prolong
The who and where of just what exactly went so terribly wrong
Thats been just so so long
Now with so many days gone
I guess there is no reason to dittle dalley
The grass is always greener

Greener Grass

Somewhere between increasing size of the uniform
Maturity kicked in, and I grew up, mom
Molded to be different than the peers I grew among
If I were to, meet my child avatar, how I would be viewing him?
Changing every new annum, always was a unique kid
Sketching maps on living room, waltz with naval fleet
Dad wishing for a miniature of the neighbor's son
Planned
A spaceship to land on lands I never seen
Walk up to the random human like, "hey person
Why are you aiming your bow at that tree stem?
Which has been shot million times from an inch distance"
Used to scratch codes while I get my quarter back
Running with no goal, a referee in a soccer match
Watching television, used to stop for ads
To find a cheap way to get to America while I still operate
.
.
.
Teleporting through a U tube, a chemical ruin
To somewhere, where they don't ask how they just ask 'when'?
Where they tell the truth when asked how they are doing
Religiously peaceful while the beef's stewing
Where love's marketed as branded
Not a highway to hell for your hippy grand kid
Where college is sweet and candied
Not a trainee residence for mid life crisis
Where a little bit of alcohol is not youthful devilry
Where feminine coconuts aren't censored for some cable tree
Where my mondays can't foretell my tuesdays
Where my funeral will not be like my forefather's, before new faces
I keep warning you, but you are like Eustace
Keep the status quo, yeah, my voyage will cost you a huge sum
But I will be happy, yes mom, yes, yes
I love you like weekends, but I live because of the weekdays

The Grass Is Not Greener On the Other Side

Life is not a bed of roses, and will never be.
This unfortunately takes a long time for some to see,
Life and its ups and downs, a realistic overview
The grass is never greener on the other side at all.

Explore new sites, graze new pastures, Oh yes we all do.
What we think will bring true happiness, and a life brand new.
The grass is never greener on the other side, you have to mow it,
And the water bill could be a bit too high.

The grass is never greener on the other side,
The same work whether you chose to believe.
lets say the grass is greener, it takes a whole lot, to keep,
It may take, a day, a month, or a year to achieve.
