Best Gaye Poems

The Forgotten

lonely shadows fly like phantoms
sodium arc lights sickly yellow
the pallor of puss; an old mans bellow
the young rages for parents they never had them
the quiet cold of ebony rain
sepia toned photo seeking remembrance
young old women with too much experience
raspberry lip gloss she's homeless but vain
tenement skyline
lighthouse for the lost
children at sea
drowning in a ocean of humanity disdained
the writings on the wall
dope fiends in the hall
penitentiary collect calls
to grandma who accepts them all
mournfully I hear Marvin Gaye
"brother, brother, brother there are far too many of you dying"
lying in bed silently crying
"we got to find a better way here today"

1970

There ain’t no two ways about it man,
it just has to be because of you.

Before you came along we could do,
about anything we wanted to.

Man, life was great, life was great, before,
you came along and ruined it all.

There’s Haight-Ashbury’s summer of love,
Newport, Altamont, and Monterey.

And then we hit the road to Woodstock,
and let me tell you man, that was great.

We had free love, drugs, and miniskirts,
we were sure having ourselves a ball.

The Beatles really started smoking,
after Bob Dylan showed them the way.

Next came The Stones, The Doors, and Simon,
with Joplin, Hendrix, and Marvin Gaye.

All of the men burned up their draft cards,
and all the women took off their bra.

There were sit-ins and all-night love fests,
Feminine Mystique, I Have a Dream.

The Hippies knew the right way to live,
there was no end to the fun it seemed.

Black, white, red, brown, pink, purple, or green,
were brothers and sisters one and all.

We had sex, drugs, and hard Rock-n-Roll,
and wore some wildflowers in our hair.

Even left our tracks upon the moon,
man, we could do anything we dared.

Man, life was great, life was great, before,
you came along and ruined it all.

Things might still be a little fuzzy
But that’s how it happened as I recall.

So Sad

Below is a copy of your poem:
SO SAD!

This is for us who are 25 and older....
There was a question raised by the late Marvin Gaye

He asked ? What's Going On with the children of today??
Benzos and Bling Bling is what they glorify
Living wild lifestyles, not afraid to die
But I see the truth, in the tears that they cry
If you look a little closer
With a deaf ear you can hear it in their voice
Too ashamed of breaking down
So they use rebellion as their force
Out the hurt that their really feeling deep inside
With no where to run, or no where to hide
So they turn to us?.
And most of us get caught up in emotions
So what do we do?
We fight and fuss
Instead of lending them our listing ear
Or use some words of love and encouragement
To drive away their fears
Now if you think about it
We were once in their shoes
Knowing right from wrong
But yet we did whatever we wanted too
I remember that one funny phrase
My mom use to say before beating me
And I'm sure you've heard it too
This is going to hurt me, more then it hurt you
O' and the other one before she walked out of your door
Shut up all of that noise before I give you something to cry for
Yeah you might laugh now
But we really need to break the curse
By STOP using words that hurt
And START using words that help
So the next time your child do something
Instead of getting mad
Just remember as parents we are the only one that can
Save Our Sons And Daughters
And if you don't understand
that's just
So Sad!

When I Die

When I die
please call the cops
don't lie
then put my body on some hot rocks.
play 2Pac
over my block
to honor me
then spread my ashes across the Black Sea.
My life of sin
will be over
when the train pulls in
life will be on my shoulder.
I'm in the zone
all alone.
When I'm gone
will it turn you on?
will it make you happy?
will it make you sad?
will it make you go crazy?
and will it make you mad?
When I die
don't tell my dad
he's a father that I never had,
just another face in my broken past.
The good memories
never seem to last.
Let life go on
for my son
may he never touch a gun.
I'll fly like a lightning rod
to the house of god.
This life is getting stranger
everywhere I go
I'm always in danger.
Let my soul linger on
let em' drop the bomb
let em' sing this song
learn right from wrong
smoke out of my bong
let the band play on.

When I die
will you cry?
will you try
to lie
about the way I died?
Will you honor my pride?

Illuminati confirmed
I will lay where my homies burned.
Everything I've seen
everything I've learned.
You've turned.
I hope I still grow
after I go.
I hope my rhymes will heard
all my words
by the birds
far away
okay.
I hope I don't go like Marvin Gaye
but, it's better to burn out
than to fade away.

When I die
will you cry?
Will you try
to lie
about the way I died?
Will you honor my pride?

Now, I know
I said and did a lot of things.
That I hurt you.
That's what really stings
because I know how much you tried
to help me through.
Play those strings.
All my love
all the hard times
all these rhymes
and those crimes.
Your my dove
my first true love.
You will always be in my heart
I made the teardrops start.
All my art
walking after dark
my fiction is stark.

When I die
will you cry?
Will you try
to lie
about the way I died?
Will you honor my pride?

Don't reject
my respect
for the dead
or I'll pump your guts full of lead.
You will see a lot of red.
I'm a thug
when I'm holdin' a slug.
If I catch wind
of you harming my friend
it will be your end.
Enough said.

When I die
will you cry?
Will you try
to lie
about the way I died?
Will you honor my pride?

Woh Tera Ankh Bhar Kay Mujhay Dekhna

Woh tera ankh bhar kay mujhay dekhna,
Woh tera dekhna he kamal tha,
Meri justajo kay ahsas par,
Tera lamss bhi tu baymisal tha,

Meray saray jazboon ki dilkashi,
Teray ashiyan pay aa kay simat gai,
Gar main ruk na jata iss taraf,
Tu meri hasti pay pher zawal tha,

Teray husan ki sari tajaliyan,
Kaisy ho gayen mujh pay mahrban,
Meray zehan kay neha khanoo main,
Yehi chupa howa aik sawal tha,

Woh jo chaltay chaltay thy mil gaye,
Thy meri chahatoon kay silsalaye
Jo tera sang na milta mujhy,
Tu pher jena mera muhal tha.

Shabeeb Hashmi

Khawab Dekhe the Jo

Khawab dekhe the jo ankhon me reh gaye shayad,
Ban ke armaan ansoun me beeh gaye shayad,

Sham dhundlaye kyun raaste gumnaam hoe,
Sath hamsafr the jo dhund me kho gaye shayad,

Ab kyun angna me sakheon ka hujoom nahe,
Mujh se anjaan zamanee bhi hogaye shayad,

Nanhi jhoole me samaye hazaroo gham kaise,
Afaatein dekh kar daman bhi barh gaye shayad,

Dil ke virania ab ghatne ko tayar kahan,
Andhere raat ke mujh me he bus gaye shayad,

Chowdwein raat hai phir bhi ye andhere kaise,
Jalte chiraagh hawaoon se bujh gaye shayad,

Mere taqdeer ke kitaab to khali he rahe,
Purr the oraaq jo ashkoon se mit gaye shayad,

Khawab dekhe the jo ankhon me reh gaye shayad,
Ban ke armaan ansoun me beeh gaye shayad,

Premium Member When Blackness Turns Into Light

When blackness turns into light

Society could not deny
what we saw
with our own two eyes.

We saw blackness
turn into light
soulful stars
illuminating
white nights.

Jackie was a pioneer
his love lifted us
higher and higher
his black voice
shining bright in
the white night
his acceptance there
was no denying.

James Brown led the way
when there still
was segregation
blacks and whites
in Baptist churches
but in separate
congregations

His voice was strong
his blackness shone
his body contorted
in rhythmic gyrations
his voice was heard
when people listened
and saw as useful
this racial integration.

His strength and stamina
on the stage
and his voice made you
want to get up and dance
those who saw him
knew that maybe
racial unity had a chance.

Then came Marvin
yes that Marvin Gaye
he blazed a new trail
a new way of thinking
never encountered before,
music with a social conscience
that stirred a whole nation
to even question the war.

Then there was Sly and his
band mates the Family Stone
they were unique and special
mixing races together musically
but they were all alone

Then came Stevie
yes he was a wonder
his talent as a musician
there was simply no doubt,
his music resounded
a message of peace and
harmony was what it
was about.

Then came Michael
and Prince at the
very same time
two forces of black nature
twisting and turning their
blackness into light.
Music of healing the world
and the crying of doves
transfixed hateful gazes
into havens of love.

And don't forget
Luther Vandross and
Teddy Pendergrass too,
their songs of love
helped conceive a
million children or two.

If you never lived
at a time like I did,
growing up with
Soul music's beginnings
it would be like being a
football player who
never experienced
winning.

Now they're mostly all gone
but their music still lives on
we were witnesses
to the legends
in the making.
Now the message carries on
hope is never really gone
it's still there
for the taking.

Makes Me Wanna Holler

Makes me wanna holler

This way of life.

Makes me wanna holler.

This is too much strife.

Makes me wanna holler.

All of my life I wanted much sucess.

All of my life I did my best.

Makes me wanna holler

All of the dollars are in the hands of others

It makes me wanna holler

As I a qualified individual continues

To struggle to get my voice heard.

It makes me wanna holler

That I'm still not getting what

I really deserve. I can truly feel

That Marvin Gaye song. This

Ain't living. Nothing around me

Is giving me or the God that

Made us glory. Makes me wanna

Holler. All of this education,

No summer vacation, No

Screaming and shouting

Victory. People hating on

Me. My total life history.

Makes me wanna holler.

This place is filled with

Total pity and misery.

No glory. My story.

My life. Still strife.

Makes me wanna holler

What an allegory!

Makes me holler.

Tripping out. No doubt.

No clout. Makes me wanna holler.

One day I'll holler victory is

Mine. Makes me wanna holler.

This is a crime. Makes me

Wanna holler for the last time.

A sin and a shame to be here

And no one is to blame but me

But I just know that one day

I'll holler that victory is my name.

Makes me wanna holler this last

Time. My name is victory and I'm

Going to win and life around here

Will be fine.

Vo Thandi Hawa

Vo thandi sarsarati hawa
Mujhe kuch keh ke chali gayi
Ranj-o-gam ki syahi me lipti
Kuch panne zindagi ke bhar gayi

Panne jab palat ke dekhe
To ek kahani simti dikhi
Na jane kab se dhool me padi thi
Kisi ke jeevan ki rubai mitati chali gayi

Kayi saal ho gaye uss sehar ko guzre hue
Ab to door tak vo hawa fir dikhti nahi
Meri zindagi ke vo panne jo usne bhare the
Unme jhakti meri rooh bhi marti rahi

Na jane vo hawa kya kehna chahti thi
Uski parchai bhi sirf yadon ko naseeb thi
Raton me bhi uska hi khayal ata he
Hum samajhte rahe aur vo udti chali gayi

Jab Teri Qabr Se Guzarta Hoon

Woh chale bhi gaye to kia hua
Mein unhein roz yaad karta hoon

Dil mein rehta he bus khayal unka
Un hee kee dhun mein jeeta marta hoon

Kon hoon mein? samajh na paya kabhi
Khoj mein kion Khuda kee
rehta hoon?

Loag kuch aur hee samajhte hein
Soach per unki aahein bharta hoon.

Sochta hoon ke mein bhi mar jata
Jab teri qabr se guzarta hoon

Teri ruswaee ka he khauf
mujhe
Warna mein kab kisi se darta hoon?

The First Time

The first time is like ballroom dancing with two left feet.
Naked twister, his right hand on my bra strap,
his lips surpasses my pulsating heart and lands
on my sweetened fruits, his left hand on my trembling thigh.
Hip on hip. Knocked knees. Awkward.
Shouldn’t Maxwell or Marvin Gaye be serenading in the background?
And why is the 5 o’clock news on?
I knew little and what I knew
I did not believe-
They had lied to me so many times,
So I just took it as it came,
Surrendering. Walls crashing stubbornly like Berlin-
when did it become November 1989?

My absentee father tried to explain-
Bees flee.
Birds are stuck with hatchlings with feathers like their fathers.
My mother said to
choose your first time wisely, like
picking your first dandelion and making a wish-
imagining and misperceiving coincidence,
the little floaty puffs are parachutes for the seeds that don’t come back.
Deflowered.

Detroit Singing

Most everyone has heard
of the place I come from
They hear mostly bad news, sad news
Tragic Detroit black and blues
The crime,
the murders,
The violent riots
that constantly divides us
But I grew up during a special time,
when Detroit was singing
and making the nation dance
I was born in a generation
that had a beautiful legacy
There was so much royalty all around
I walked among the kings and queens
who created the Motown sound
The list is too long
for me to say
But I'll name a few anyway:

The Temptations,
the Supremes
Stevie Wonder,
and of course the Queen
Aretha Franklin
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles,
Marvin Gaye
The Jackson Five,
there's a lot more names I can say

I grew up Detroit singing,
my town's famous heritage was world renown
We were the ambassadors of soul,
uplifting spirits everywhere with our harmonious sound

I grew up Detroit singing,
soulful songbirds in the heart of the ghetto
I grew up Detroit singing,
where beautiful voices still flourish and grow
I grew up Detroit singing,
that's the Detroit I know and love so

Waqt Ke Saaye Mein

Kyun tu accha lagta hai,
tere deedar se yeh dil dhadakta hai,
Kya hai ye taluq hamara,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Jo alfaz khamoshi mai chhup gaye,
jo khwab adhoore reh gaye,
Woh kaise bayaan honge,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Teri muskaan ka jaadu,
kyun chand se milta jata hai,
Kya raaz chhupa in aankhon mai,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Dil ke har ek kone main,
sirf tera hi zikr kyun hai,
Kya hai yeh junoon ,teri hi fikr kyun hai,
kabhi waqt mila toh sochenge.

Shab-e-tanhai ke lamhon main,
ya subah ke narm saaye main,
Kaun hai jo khayal ban jaata hai,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Teri aankhon ki gehrayiyon main,
kya chand ki roshni basi hai,
Kya hai yeh noor-e-husn,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Zindagi ke is hijr-o-wasl main,
kaun apna, kaun begana hai,
Is mohabbat ka haqiqi matlab,
waqt mila toh sochenge.

Dil ki dhadkanon ka sabab,
ye saanson ka silsila hai kya aakhir,
Jo uske deedar se tham jaati hain,
kabhi waqt mila toh sochenge.

Teri baaton ke sahil pe, khayalon ki lehar aaye,
Dil ki yeh beqarari , tujhe kaise samjhayen?
Mohabbat ka fasana hai, ya khwab hai adhoora sa,
Jo bhi hai yeh afsana, waqt mila toh sochenge.

More Babbling From Diiamond Rich

Do you think its disrespectful to curse
on the same lines as the word God
even unaware rambling through society
on a hot plate.
I hoped criminals hooked you like a fish
like the images in my mind last summer
a little to real to be mental illness
It felt like a group of emps got together
for a pajamma party in my head.
And whats up with all the exploitation of
religous poems; hologram tecnology I
love star trek smothered with onions
and volkens on some cloaked rock
Humans shouldn't hurt humans inless its in
self defense, and if so least have the half of
heart to say sorry by f--- you
I'm doubting the whole humanity thing
just like charity just something to make
me look good, deep down I'm the villin and
you know it
I'll get it all back at the end of the year anyway
Not all just some, the ones who can turn money
and power into a mind f--- jinxing yourself for
a petty laugh
I use to get high to Marvin Gaye
wine, the good kind you need a kork for
steak and onions, the good kind you need a knife
and fork for
The midnight whores was knockin on my window
like a heavy hail storm
they never went in from the cold they used the pipe
to stay warm
yeah I said, the pipe to stay warm.
