Premium Member Like a Girl

I play like a girl, I hit like a girl
You say I throw like a girl,
And when I run -- I run like a girl!
All that plus more, enjoy this one-size-fits-all

Who and what I want comes from being strong
Classy and fabulous, this is my song!
I've been told, cut to size
The world is dark and gray when life becomes an insult
Take heed when I speak my mind,
I am tough, outstanding, and beautiful!

Move ahead --- say it twice, I smell nice
A taste of Cool Water and Justice Perfume
I have a non-stop multitask fixation
As a woman, everything about me is hidden
Magic and alluring are the only joy you'll need

I'm empowered at this moment!
Endorsing Myself, with a certain sorta mystique
I deliver an independent will,
Don't ever underestimate my physique
I am a caregiver, a female who won't give up the fight
I remain firm and believe all women have equal rights
I walk and talk Like A Girl
Wearing heels breaking the sounds of Wedding Bells

I am, Mona's unforgettable smile, standing tall Like Miss Liberty
I am, Betsy America's #1 designer, I am you and full of life.

The sound in your eyes isn't listening!
You imagine I am weak -- not strong enough -- brave enough,
You call me different and difficult!
Still, you want my warmth -- my love -- my attention
I am not less, I am more
I am a woman -- I frown -- I cry -- I hurt and yell at the universe
Nevertheless, I make a difference, like a girl, I smile
A smile, never seen or felt before, both defined and undefined
Your heart will ask and implore for more

Like a girl, I'll drive you wild, looking pretty "You're In Love!"
My Self-confidence comes from who I am deep inside
Everything I've become follows the makeup on my face
Bare and nude, I am the Madonna flowering the mood

At the end of every day, I have one other thing to say
The Next Time You ask me to cook and clean
Because you think, I belong in the kitchen
You better believe I'm doing it my way
LIKE A GIRL

Leaf

Floating down with grace and ease
Carried off by the Autumn breeze
Rich in hues of orange and red
Landing in the flower bed

What once was buzzing full of life
Now succumbs to the pruning knife
Staring up at the wilted rose
Another season comes to close

Looking for memories of this day
Not forgetting her fun filled stay
Lying amongst the rocks and sticks
I'm the one the little girl picks

Hurries home with the one she took
Placing it in her poetry book

Forever Loved

You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see
You were there when I needed you
Just a young child so full of life
Causing many an adult strife
If I lied you could see right through
You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see

Because of you I changed my ways
Have respect till my dying days
You were there when I needed you
If I lied you could see right through
You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see

Lover's Paradise

A wink of the sun gently caresses my slumbered eyes

the rush of the tide slowly moves in and out

lightly dampening the virgin white sand

on this secluded tropical beach,

The scent of coconut fills the fresh oceanic air

and then I see you

emerging from the churning sea

more beautiful than Aphrodite

glimmering

your long soaked hair

 reaching down

draping that soft sweet skin

you sway

as you come closer

twinkling

 those caramelized eyes

so rich, so full of life

staring right at me

I speak

but you don't let me

placing your luscious lips upon mine

and we kiss

like we have never kissed before

as the last drop of water falls

off your sundrenched body.

At last

a lover's paradise

Asylum Ghost Haunting Me

"When pain, rage and screams buried in the asylum of your heart start to poison your heart slowly and surreptitiously, you become a living ghost." - Anne Winter

Last night I had a dream,
I was a ghost in an asylum,
So many unheard screams,
Intelligence turned into something dumb and numb.

I looked at me,
Her hair frizzy and frazzled,
The ghost looked back at me,
My hair, soft like silk and dazzled.

My eyes, brimming full of life,
Her hollowness of face,
Her eyes dry like a dull knife,
Just like my hollow heart days.

“What did you do”she screamed,
Glass shattered and clattered at my feet,
Her crumpled ghastly face, tears gleamed,
My lips sealed, my heart scared to beat.

Should I tell her it's not her fault,
But my throat is closed and tight,
“It is”said the tears soaked in salt,
My eyes shrilled “Look for the light”.

She was about to throw glass shards at me,
I woke up before she could do it,
I apologise I couldn't set her free,
My room and bones, dimly lit.

Taste of my tears opened my eyes,
Self neglected, broken one always dies,
Fair or unfair,
It was just a nightmare.

I couldn't understand her, I'm not that deep,
Maybe Sylvia could understand the girl in my sleep,
All I could do was weep,
I couldn't fill the gaps so steep.

The ghost left me howling
“I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry”,
My heart sinking and drowning,
Her eyes, dull and starry.

ECHOES IN THE STONE

No one can turn back the hands of time
Reliving the war, TEXAS her independence
The tombs so deep, where real hero's fought and fell
A place so precious, sacred in every hold
A timeless journey, with no stop to heal
To find your eyes upon this treasure's glaze
Hearing stories not found in fairy-tale books
Finding GRACE in this AMAZING place
The legendary ALAMO, over freedom, a ghost town
Walking by the thousands, beyond this land
Outnumbered
Echoes in the stones
A painful event, UN erased

Defenders of the ALAMO gathered to unite
With their life's they put up an honorable fight
Heroes who embraced a defeat in March 1836
A battle deeply wounded overnight
Bravery in their hearts
No time to be scared.
Where the wind now blows,
Echoes in our souls.

With one touch, embrace the south wall
Hearing whispers, sad echoes-I call
Chills traveled down my spine
Standing among all heroes who are still buried,
In their home at the ALAMO
Echo's in the stone
Proud of the ALAMO.

Echoes in the stone
Where a hero still stands tall
Heroes even beyond their last breath,
Death being their only bail
Heroically fighting with their own will and liberty
In hopes, that justice would prevail
The ALAMO rebuilt, standing strong
Full of life, in the center of San Antone'

The voices, the scream,
Piercing the stone
Fighting till their death
"Remember the Alamo!"
The echoes in the stone, a hero's home
Locked inside each stone of eyes
Heroes who died,
Cried their last words
"VIVA THE ALAMO!"

Premium Member Reflections

I look in the mirror and guess what I see
My green eyes staring back at me
No longer sparkling and full of life
Full of tears from my worry and strife

I long for the days when the tears will stop
But now it’s a constant drip drip drip drop
My head is spinning, my mind in a whirl
I want to be back to a carefree young girl

The last few years have been the worst of my life
I try my best to be a daughter, mother and wife
Please God ease my worries, please set me free
All I want to is to return to just being me

I Am Winter

I am winter

I can hear the birds singing,
calling for the sun to rise
from dark branches scraping an alabaster sky
Full of life they sound,
perched high above a frosted lawn,
clinging to sticks, crooked and bare,
formed of countless years trying
and mistletoe nightmares

Frigid sonatas echo
through a stoic countryside,
white dustings coat sparse thicket
woven in below freezing motions
Footprint remnants, slight indentations
wander finding nowhere a reality
along disguised pathways

Melodies bridge the breeze across
a lonely corn field of empty rows
and a garden of sleeping blooms
Life waiting to be reborn,
to paint the landscape with color,
bringing happiness to the birds,
chirping on the cusp of new,
the edge of beauty,
as eastern horizons wake

Grey skies still cling to the heavens
I listen, quietly to this music
as if their harmonies will lift
the chilly loneliness from my heart
Chambered worries of what will come,
frozen rivers in icicle vistas
Counting sunsets until spring arrives,
when I whisper a sad good bye,
but I will return…

I am winter

Premium Member A Meadow's Sigh

The meadow’s breath a gift to all, the mist, the morning dew,
a silent sigh, a heartfelt call, a prayer to me and you.

Green and warm, full of life, the forest's skirt, the Maid's delight,
where rabbits dwell in lovers’ dells, a dream in morning light.

Gold and bright, full of life, the forest's skirt and Knight's delight;
life lies in grasses high, where lovers sleep and passion cries.

White and fair, full of life, the forest's skirt of pearly white;
burrowers sleep in bowers deep, hearths alight on chill nights.

The meadow's breath a gift to all, the mist, the morning dew;
a silent sigh, a heartfelt call, a prayer to me and you.

The men have made the meadow home, no rabbits now play there,
no deer appear so near the roads for cars bring them dispare.

The meadow was home to many things, butterflies, birds on wing,
yet, few can dwell where men reside, the forest's skirt swept aside.

The meadow’s breath a gift to all, the mist, the morning dew,
a silent sigh, a heartfelt call, a prayer to me and you.

Premium Member Open Up

Open up this moment
As you whisper a silent prayer
Bring laughter, light and love
To the surface, where you can
Brighten thoughts
With kindness, joy and inspiration
That thrive on the gift of
Imagination, appreciation
Faith in the heart

Open up this day
As you sing from your soul
Happiness and hope and healing
Heaven’s breath smiling through
The fears, tears and years
Bringing reassurance to those
Who know the struggles
Will, one day, be gone
And gems of hope will linger on
Playing, with harmony,
The warmth of a song

Open up this glowing gift
Of pleasure and gladness, bliss
That comes from giving back to our God
A part of the heart, the soul, the love
That lifts sorrows and brightens darkness
With gentleness and acceptance
Feelings of gratitude and thanks
That come about when we take a moment
To think of the ways we’ve been
Blessed, beyond our convictions
In spite of our faults and flaws
With a love that keeps us
Full of life – alive
Filled with tenderness and affection
Feelings that give our hearts
Their direction

Open up the heart to give
With a freedom that reminds us to live
For the One who breathed life
Into our lives, our laughter, our love
The compassion that fills us with
Patience, praise and prayer

Open up and feel full of grace

Premium Member Ice Cream Truck - First Place Contest Winner

In times gone by, in a land of dreams,
Where childhood thrived with laughter and gleams,
A story unfolded, enchanting and true,
Of mirthful times and dreams that grew.

In a quaint little town, where joy ran rife,
There stood an ice cream truck, full of life.
With its jingling tune and colorful display,
It brought smiles and laughter every day.

Children flocked to its magical sight,
Their dreams bear flight, day and night.
With sticky fingers and faces beaming,
They tasted flavors, delicious and gleaming.

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry delight,
Each scoop is a memory, pure and bright.
In that little town, under the summer sun,
The ice cream truck was where the fun had begun

From morning till dusk, they would gather around,
In eager anticipation of the sweetest sound.
The tinkling melody that filled the air,
Drawing them closer, without a care.

The children would form a queue, their eyes wide,
As the ice cream truck parked by the roadside.
They'd count their coins, their pockets emptied,
Hoping to indulge in the flavors they craved.

The ice cream man, with a smile so bright,
Served up scoops with all his might.
He knew each child's favorite treat,
And made sure their dreams were complete

With laughter and giggles, they'd savor each bite,
Their taste buds danced in sheer delight.
The ice cream truck became their halcyon place,
A sanctuary of joy, a sweet space.

And as the years passed, and childhood flew by,
A symbol of innocence and a carefree day,
Ice cream truck remained a cherished reminiscence
Where dreams were nurtured in the sweet existence.

Premium Member Noah's Woods

On a darkened night in a full moon's glow
Alone, I walk, on a midnight stroll
Along the trail, where Old Buck roams
A path of footprints deep in snow

An old wise owl's echoing hoots
Sticker bushes, made- rabbit's homes
A foxhole 'Neath a fallen tree
Mouse nests built in broken roots

Some evergreens sit fluff and green
In this forest full of life, I see
On my midnight stroll, a moonlit show
So wonderful is this nature scene

Through barren trees with rotted bark
Where animals live or left their mark
Perhaps they've come off Noah's ark
I wonder, as I walk these woods of dark

Abandoned

I surrender myself to you
The grains worn with times gone
I’m as withered as an old apple
That has no juice left to give but

I do remember them

Those that loved me once full of life
Laughter ringing out, foot paths worn
Do they think of me with love
Would they cry at my weathered face

Do they remember me

I sit on the hill where they used to sled
Winters all snowy soft white
Those years of tag, hiding under me
Sipping iced tea on the porch

Our life before you gave me up

Babies born in my bosom, held tightly
The tire swing that meant freedom
As you flew to touch the old oak branches
Gone now these past five years

Aborted by a fall during a storm

Years after Billie Sue was married there
All your lives being lived unhampered with loss
Then one by one you left me far behind you
School, jobs, families of your very own

Do you remember me back then

One day there came a big truck up the hill
And men carried all the furniture out
Along with boxes and boxes that went too
Tucked inside all scraps of me

I remember it so well

You were grey and a bit stooped besides
You walked together away from me
I didn’t realize it was farewell
And I sat and waited and waited and

I am waiting still
