Best Fit The Bill Poems
They read our poems, and more than that,
they leave a word or two.
It isn’t much, yet that’s a thing
some folks here NEVER do.
Some heroes never visit me.
I sure do wish they would,
but I am glad to know at least
to others they are good.
They welcome poets never seen
by simply saying hi
or click to comment on our poems,
not just on that “Reply.”
I know we all have busy lives,
but if we post a poem,
it’s much more fun if we can feel
this is our second home.
The builders of community
are whom I’m writing of.
To those I’ve met and those not yet,
I’m sending you my love!
I just found out I had to choose
three poets and no more.
It pays to study contest rules
not after, but BEFORE.
And so I'll name three friends of mine:
The very first to greet
me and become a truest friend
was Nikko, one so sweet.
Another one to fit the bill
of great community
is Jan. I love her humor and
her sweet sincerity.
So many others do their part
to make this place so great.
My newest friend is CayCay, and
to meet her was my fate.
Three friends, all women, do their part
to build community.
These are the ladies who now bring
sweet sanity to me!

Since my Poetry Soup Heroes are too many to name, I have named three Community builders that I am currently the most in communication with through Hotmail: Nikko Palmario (who goes by binibining P.iNk), Jan Allison, and CayCay Jennings. For me, friendship is everything. Without good friends here, how can one truly enjoy the experience?
Hey there, Rag doll!
I'm folding into a bowled,
bold mix and
I'm in knead of a partner.
First come. First served.
Lying in a daydream -
I see you fit the bill.
Make my realities a nightmare.
You're my dazzling star.
You're thin-sliced innocent.
You're an unused gift certificate.
Need me.
Hey there, sweetheart!
Don't talk. Don't yelp.
It's only me leaving
an oil-stained finger print upon
your left eyelid.
Special. The touch -
my touch -
is special-licious.
Pirate-rigged and e(special)ly
meant for you.
I threw away my thesaurus yesterday.
I found it unnecessary
and callous.
LOVE is a four letter word
as is -
LIAR.
Hit me with an anthemed antonym.
Hey there, pumpkin!
Kiss me once again
and revel in
the sticky juices of
our misguided
presumptions.
Spit, spanked and smothered.
A rolling pin of charm -
You knead me,
darling.
In years gone by, folks didn’t like to say
God’s name to show surprise or great dismay,
and so you would hear “Goodness,“ “Gol” and “Gee,“
and also euphemisms for J.C.
Jiminy Cricket! Doesn’t that sound nice?
Jeepers Creepers, Jason Crisp or Cheese and Rice?
Godfrey Daniel! Surely you know that
is slang for God and “God rot it” is “Drat!”
“Oh my gosh,” “My goodness,” or simply “Lord”
replaced expletives that today come poured
from mouths of kids who can’t be mannerly
to just say “Leapin‘ Lizards“ or “Golly Gee!”.
You’ll hear (for damning something with God’s name),
“Dag nabbit” and “Dad gum.” They might seem tame
but fit the bill and give us a small thrill!
But dang it, why would someone say “Sam Hill?”
Words from the Holy Bible we enjoy
employing when we say Holy Moley,
Holy cow, Judas Priest (but WAIT!)
For Pete’s Sake! How did Judas ever rate?
Great Scott, there’s even Jumpin’ Jehosophat!
How the HECK did they ever come up with that?
By Jove, I’m nearly finished. Now pretty please. . . .
Instead of using Christ’s name, just say Jeeeeez!

Silly Sally sells books, this week there's a sale -
New titles each Friday; I go without fail.
This book took the do-it-yourselfers by storm:
"How To File Your Own Taxes" by May Linda Form.
If this one's available, I'm calling dibs:
"Let's Cook in the Backyard " by Barbie Q. Dribs.
If that one is sold out, this might fit the bill:
"The Perfect Hamburger" by Patty O'Grill.
If you don't have time for the whole book, just scan it:
"Naming Your Newspaper" by Dale E. Planet.
This one's selling out, be the first on your block:
"You Must Bring My Daughter Home" by Ada Clock.
One book I've been wanting I think really rocks:
It's called "Spooner's Footwear". It's by Susan Shocks.
You students may need this one for your next quiz:
"It's All About Nature" by Ollie G. Whiz.
And speaking of science, this one is debateable:
"Decomposing Organisms" by O. deGradable.
If you know a student, I'm sure they will love:
"Better Test Taking" by Olive D. Above.
At 70 cents, this old book is a cheapie:
"Hypnosis Tricks" by U. R. Barry Sleepy.
For those with a more Catholic upbringing:
"Be On Time For Church" by Isabel Ringing.
Need help thinking quicker? This one's on the button:
"Reacting in Crises" by Olive O'Sudden.
You could take this one on your longer vacations:
"Destroyer Warfare" by Mandy Battlestations.
To order this title, you may have to beg:
"My Very Small Breakfast" by I. Ada Negg.
I know of a fitness book you ought to buy:
"I'm Living Forever" by Dawn Wanda Dye.
This could be a best-seller, I have no doubt:
"It's None of Your Business, You Twit!" by Bud Out.
You may think these books are for real. If you do,
there's a nice bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you!
I sought the best
To win this contest
I wanted it done Judy's way.
I needed to know if I fit the bill;
And could write what she wanted it to say.
I used a form,
Which was not my norm
And stumbled upon mistakes
But on the scene was my Queen
And she was there for my sake.
She viewed my spews,
And told me what to do.
In her review
She found a few
That I needed to correct.
She was gentle with her words;
Didn't make me feel like a reject.
And through it all when it was done
I came out on top, I am (#1) one.
I found a friend across the water
And she is worth more than a quarter;
She is worthy of her call
She has that influence to bring out greatness
And she is willing to do if for you all.
Thanks Jan I know you can.

Stone better than gold
One that can`t be sold
Crystals that shine more than stars
Men behold thy face
with rays full of grace
Fresh pretty skin without scars
I profess my love
which is from above
with strong heart and a pure mind
That makes most girls thrill
Love!,that fit the bill
Passion, that is hard to find.
Somethings we may never do again
Because of once getting burned
So we jump on the "never train",
When from a painful lesson we have learned
Some say they would never drink again
But once the hangover is gone,
They drink once more, it's insane,
Here comes never, rising with the dawn
If you say you never will
Beware, never might return,
And never, once more, will fit the bill
Will we never learn?
I know the fact that it's Facebook
it somehow gives you an excuse not to abide
by even the most basic of grammar rules.
And I admit seeing an apostrophe
where it's not needed kills me a bit inside.
But, alas, I will restrain myself
from starting any spelling duels.
The truth is you just wouldn't win,
not even the slightest chance.
And even if you did there would be
no satisfaction on your behalf.
It would always come back again
to the same redundant dance;
me - taking the time to voice my message clearly,
and you having a big hair-pulling laugh.
It's true, there is a great deal of time saved,
cutting the words short and omitting punctuation.
But by God it's like throwing away
years of hard-earned education!
I wouldn't mind writing like a five-year-old
(aside from the fact I'm almost twenty).
Some say it's nothing to fret about -
isn't the rest of the world's problems plenty?
The fact is writing is one of the few things
I can keep in order
(Lord knows my room doesn't fit the bill!).
So if by chance you find yourself,
staring zombie-eyed Into a computer screen,
with extra time to fill,
I hope that you will remember your I before E except C's,
that you will recall the three different there's of English.
Maybe someday you too will join
this small club of Grammar Nazis.
Perhaps you'll find there's more to words
than just ink on a page...
For you have the whole world within you,
first step is too climb out of your cage.
Who, Why, What, Where, When?
Take a meme, and make it clean by belief, engagement,
God meme, Santa Claus or denim jeans are fundamentals,
They offer a magic carpet to all partakers into fulfilment,
When we endorse the concepts behind these credentials.
Like god, belief in Jesus is optional, warranty undelivered,
On two levels: as the son of god, and as the son of man,
The latter being the term more frequented by gospel word,
When he emerged as the people’s hero, up for a ban.
Richard Carrier believes that Jesus never existed at all,
Historically, but he doesn’t speak much of psychosomatics,
Which assumes contemporary phrasing and a high call,
To spread medical remedies and to dismiss ecclesiastics.
Crucifixion was the punishment method used back then,
Just as the electric chair is used today in the United States,
And very many people were crucified each week, like Ben,
Some who’d changed their name to Jesus, or “demonstrates”.
Jesus in the Israeli language meant saviour of the people,
Meaning intrinsically from the Roman government seed,
Trying to figure out how to make progressivism capable,
So they asserted themselves in the court case of creed.
So, if we take the storyline stat, then what does it emit,
Did Mary and Joseph name the boy on their first day?
To call him then by an off the rack name - “Jesus” bit,
Which indicated that he would create medical sway.
If Jesus crucified as god never happened, that's fine,
If Jesus was not born virgin god incarnate, then ok,
But if a Nazarene boy fit the bill as Jesus the myth, rhyme,
Then don't claim that he needed this mould to thus say.
And don't presume you don't have a faith to propel you,
That is, if you believe that a man died for his human acts,
Towards the poor and the sick who upon old age, chase,
Were only encouraged to commit suicide as bad facts.
Reading the text, many Jesus’s were crucified at this time,
So the canonical gospels may not consider just one healer:
Therefore if you think this then life can be not sublime,
And so whether you're called this or that is not clever.
If I could breathe back life into one
Archimedes would have to be the one
And not just for fun.
Inventors to fill a need is what we need
Not ones that serve no need except greed.
Archimedes once re-acclimatised could yet fit the bill
If we give him a pill so he is not yet over the hill
His inventions though blasts from the past
Still apply to today's class.
Every time I turn a screw I think of him anew.
Filling a bath I cross his path.
Shifting a rock with a lever makes me a believer
That Archimedes could yet come back in favour.
Problem solving was his game
I am sure he could still put some current inventors to shame.
For which we are all to blame
For not telling them what we need
And letting them invent for no need.
Maybe that is why we have no modern day Archimedes,
To meet our needs.
To reinstate the original I see as the only way
If we want to save the day.
To avoid any glitch, I will steer him clear of the rich,
So they can not get first pitch.
It may not yet be too late,
If we bring him back to this date,
Our problems to relate
And ask him to invent to suit our need with all speed
To save our planet from our greed.
I been havin' a real bad day.
Nothin's gone right and my skies are grey.
I usually am quite chipper and kind.
Not a more generous soul will you find.
But today if it could it just happened to me.
I want to just quit, run off and just flee.
Car's in the garage, it'll cost a ton,
To find out what's wrong, that mechanic's a bum.
The T.V. is broke and the stove's on the fritz,
Can't wait to see what that cost's to fix.
I'm behind on my bills, my account's in the hole,
I'm out of a job and my wallet got stole.
I went to the bank for a loan, buy some time,
And the Bible says Job had a lot on his mind.
No dice at the bank and my car's now in hock,
Without any money guess I'll just have to walk.
I yelled at the dog, shoved the cat, kicked the kids,
It seems that it all has just hit the skids.
I can't buy a thing, pay a bill, go to market,
It's hard when the devil puts holes in your pocket,
To look up and smile and give praise in all things,
To trust Him and love Him and lift voice and sing.
I feel so ashamed for the things that I've done.
I thought I was strong but I just came undone,
When things all started to slide down hill,
The examples I gave didn't quite fit the bill;
So I'm asking the Lord to forgive, see me through it,
Cause it ain't my fault, the devil made me do it.

About This Poem:
So often we find that when things get tough it's easier to give advice than it is to take it.
It's much harder to experience hard times than it is to watch someone else go through it.
So we tend to judge those who are going through it if they don't quite measure up, even if we have made the same mistakes ourselves. We say:|Oh well that was a long time ago and I'm different now and I've been forgiven for that.|
But not if you condemn others for the same thing.
The Bible clearly states that we will be judged the same way we judge others and by our own measure it will be measured to us. Remember:
There but for the Grace of God -- go I.
When Only Cash Would Do
Written: by Tom Wright

He decried to me, I'm hungry,
and have no funds for bread nor meat.
The fuel tank in my shack called home
has no propane to give it heat.
Again, he said I'm ailing,
with no one to pay me heed.
I know you have my needed cash,
will you do me just this one deed?
I thought a box of canned supplies,
and fuel tank filled would fit the bill.
At day I'd call the local druggist,
with instructions for his needs to fill.
But from his heart his anger shown,
though I thought my gesture was fine.
He then confessed that his need was cash,
for cigarettes and wine.
I said, such as I have I'll gladly give,
but cannot subsidize your needs of sin.
He failed to comprehend my reason,
when told that I'd been born again.
UNSUPPORTED CODE
I need a new TV stand
So I searched for one on Google,
Deciding in advance that I
Would splurge and not be frugal.
I bounced from site to site before
I found one so ideal,
In every way it fit the bill –
Too perfect to be real.
My gut reaction was the truth,
My quest to no avail;
Though it was beyond compare,
It just wasn’t up for sale.
See, a craftsman who’s a novice
With a talent for design
Did construct just what I wanted,
But it’s his instead of mine.
It was posted on the website
Of a woodwork magazine,
Which the Google team decided
Should appear upon my screen.
Oh, to find and lose an item
So much better than the rest
Means that now I’ll have to settle
For what’s clearly second best.
He like tall and dark
Long-legged women
With well groomed hair
And they never go swimming
Soft perfumes that cost a
Penny
They watch their diets
But they’re not too skinny
Not just trophies on his arm
They’re smart and lovely and
Full of charm
He’s the winner
If winning is real
Because all of his women
Fit the bill
And he’s one happy
Camper
La-da-da
La-da-da
If you've got a good woman
be sure to treat her right
give her roses in the daytime
give her all your love at night,
consider her with tenderness
if you don't fit the bill,
she can always find another man that will.
You can tell her every day
you'll always love her so
but if you don't prove it to her
she will never know,
don't treat her like your cook
or someone you can take to bed,
or you'll find her love for you
will soon be dead.
If you've got a good woman
never wear a frown
you should always be happy
and never put her down,
and once she shows her love for you
hold her if you can,
all you really need to do
is be a good man.
