Best Evils Poems
You,*
Hard-of-hearing,
Dweller of darkness,
Mother of all evils:
Ignorance!
You, who are unable
To hear the truth,
Even though it is spoken
Through the mouth of
Thunder,
But who easily discern
The fainting whispers
Of monstrous lies!
Why don’t you open, for once,
Your detrimental prison
Of calamitous darkness,
And allow luminous knowledge
To establish its dominion of peace
For the sake of suffering humanity?

* FROM MY RECENTLY PUBLISHED BOOK: This poem is one of many poems that are included in my poetry book on peace entitled “ An Aegean Breeze of Peace”
that was recently published by “innerchildpress” and is available at Innerchildpress.com, Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk,
Amazon.fr, Amazon.de, and Amazon.co.jp It is a book that I, Demetrios Trifiatis and co-author, hulya n. Yilmaz, a Liberal Arts Professor at The Pennsylvania State University, has written. Dr. Yilmaz, a wonderful lady whom I consider as my sister, was born in Turkey. As you may know, Turkey and Greece have been at war, on and off, for more than a thousand years. I, for those who do not know me, have got a Ph. D in philosophy, has studied in Canada, and was born in Greece. Dr. Yilmaz and I thought to join forces to write this book in order to let our countrymen and the world know that war is not the answer but peace is! Thank you all peace-loving people for your attention.

The Evils Of Drugs part I
What are the evils of drugs? How do we know when,
we encounter them? The evils of drugs are everywhere.
They seem to sneak up on us. Usually you start by expirmenting
with them. First someone offers you a smoke and tells you it's
harmless. They promise you, that it will make you feel good.
At first you start to feel good. Than one day that feeling starts to
wear off and you want something that will bring back that feeling.
One day - I met this acquaintance and asked him where he was
going. He asked me to go with him. He said - this man has some
really good stuff.
I went with him, thinking it was grass, but when we walked into
the house, I notice a glass on the table half full of alcohol and a
piece of cotton in the bottom. There were two eye droppers and
each one had a needle stuck to it. I kept looking and noticed that
the guy from the house had a capsule and handed to the guy
with me.
The capsule had some white powder. The man had already expirment
with drugs. I had not, the man opened it and pour into a spoon and
put some drops of water. The stuff was so pure that he didn't even
have to cook it. I soon found out - the stuff was Heroin.
The man that was with me shot it through his veins, than he did it to
me. The man from the house thought it was funny that I didn't know
how to tie my arm. The man told me that as soon as I saw a little blood
to squeeze the dropper and let it go in. No sooner had I done that, when
I felt the high that I had been looking for.
After a while we left the house and we started to throw up, but it was a
nice feeling to throw up. It felt good. That time - I had to pay for it, but
other guys would offer it to you for free, than you were on your own.
After that time, I didn't need anyone to go with me. The man already knew
me. I went there by myself. I went two, or three times a day.
Little knowing that I was losing the pleasure of it. I was quickly becoming
a slave to it. My whole body ached when I didn't have the drug. My body
kept asking for more...
To be continued.

The Evils Of Drugs Part II
One night I was in My Hotel room laying on my bed and
I kept tossing and turning all night. I couldn't sleep, soon
it became daylight and I steped out of the room. I went outside
and I met an old timer. I told him how I felt. I told him - I didn't
know what was wrong with me. He asked me to explain. he asked
me if I had been using the stuff. I said yes - he said you are hooked.
He told me to go back to the same house and get another capsule
and that feeling will go away. All this was in the time of the depression
and drugs were cheap. You could get an ounce for $ 75.00. I went and got
my fix and my aches and pains were gone.
One day a friend and I decided to go to the Border. We stood there for
a couple of days. When we came back, we went to the shooting gallery
and asked the guy to give us two fixes. He gave yus two decks. We opened
it and saw some brown stuff that looked like mud. We asked what it was? He
told us - this is what is in now. That was the first time that Brown Heroin
was introduced here in the U.S. from Mexico. It later became known as
Mexican Mud.
The reason it was called that was because it had not yet been refined. For
many years - I was a Junkie, but I never introduced anyone to Drugs. One
day I decided to change my life. It wasn't getting me anywhere. Because of
my drug habit I missed a lot of things in life. I now live a peaceful life. My past
life is like a bad dream. I was lucky to escape the Evils of Drugs. Some people
never do.
To the young people - I want to say - think twice before you want to expirment
with something that later may control your life. It is not worth it. You are not
living. You never have a moment of peace and you may lose everything,
even your life, or your dignity...

Note: These are confessions of a once Drug Addict. It wasn't me.
I just like to talk to people from different walks of life. The person
that told me this - asked me to write about it one day , hoping it
would make a difference. I have and hope you have enjoyed it.....

Narrative
Was not every one a child?
Joy to their mother and father
And growing up as a kid
With wonder and laughter
Then they go to school
Playing games having fun
And become a voice for others
When they don’t have one
Then some give hope to the people
Giving speeches from their tower
Then commits inhumane atrocities
When they get the taste of power
Today the worlds are full of hate
An evil that has no end
While many starves to death
For war money are spend
Men like Adolph Hitler, Robert Mugabe
George bush Jr, tony Blair, ayatollah Khomeini
Kim jong ll, idi amin, Benjamin Netanyahu
Just to name a few criminals of humanity
Pol pot murders millions in Cambodia
And the world close their eyes
The unspeakable crimes in Rwanda
Where over 500.000 people dies
I guess if the country had oil
They would have been alive today
But if you are poor nation
The United Nations looks the other way
Some kill in the name of religion
Some kills to steal your land
Some are kill by drones for just
Attending a wedding function
Hundreds of innocent are killed
By drones that they can’t see
But they are just collateral damage
But not those at Benghazi
North Korea says we have
weapons of destruction's right here
But they went to search in Iraq
Kill millions but find it nowhere
The evils of war will continue
Many more bad days still to past
More war criminals to be born
And be children playing on the grass
Many choose to cover their eyes
If it doesn't affect them, they don’t care
So while sit here writing this poem
I can’t help it but shed a tear

Light Verse
ALL is done for me, I've lost my game of life,
I've no worth and I guess I shall live my rest in rife
"Hey leave me 'lone & carry on with yaself!
Y'understand huh?!" I say to my kin
"Oh! I could have made it beautiful"
"Wowowoohoo! I had my Elixir plentiful!
Oh yeah!"
But I let it stay,
Hid it in my Veil of Gray
Hey!
Hidden in my Veil of Gray
The evils of this world misguided me,
I could've stayed safe, on my way
You fill some more pockets of yours they say!
"Leave your way aside and run!
Where you can fill those pockets of yours!"
And then I paused,
And Changed my way.
And Now here I stand,
Belittled by the same world

Unnecessary Evils---
The mind ever so biased,
with immediate outcome,
than long term stable solutions.
Committing crimes unknown to self,
while worshipping a man, worthy of sin.
Clouded memoirs of the aged brain,
Fools even you at the this human game.
The problem with people dictated by
Pride, Greed and Creed, is that they
Fail to see the emotions others feel.
Hidden from the narcissistic eye of thee.
The moral spirit that you have convinced,
to commit the evil at the devils order.
Haunting your life until you gasp your final breath.
Repent your life in hell until you succumb,
To your heinous acts, while rotting your
moral soul in the scorching flames of the deep,
known as hell.

The Fear like a shroud coalesces
Round the heart and struggles
To hold in the Darkness,
Forming a shell of iron will
Impenetrable to the Light
That seeks to free the soul.
What power the darkness must
Possess to be held so fiercly.
The battle so intense in its
Ferocity, fading mind and body
And forcing the oblivion of self
So that only the combatants
Remain. Those that bear witness
Do so with a passion and energy
Outdone only by the intensity of
Their silence. All ears are hushed
In anticipation of the sounds of the
Gate swinging open to admit the
Defeated into eternity.
Through eons the battle rages with
Neither giving in to embrace
The suffocating nothingness
That waits patiently, hungrily
Just out of sight.
They are balanced, Darkness and Fear,
Each sustaining the other while
Seeking only to destroy.
They form a purposeful futility
In which they will forever remain,
Each one keeping the other
From the Light.

Blank verse
Are they evils?
Human that eats animals for survival,
Shark who eats his own skin and the
Night eating up the blue skies
Are they all evils?
Are they cruel?
Fishes that eat worms,
Lions that hunt deers and
the wolf who chases its
wandering prey,
So as to feed its empty stomach
Please! Bring me closer to their cruelties.
Before day breaks
the night hunting victims; who knows?
Is the sun to be blamed for the sleepy crescent.

My eyes are getting old
But not my feelings
Cataract is forming
And so my inspirations growing
I see life and its styles
I see people and things
Nature and the surroundings
I feel their existence
I am grateful
I see goodness more than evils
I have dreams more than frights
I see poems, art pieces
Philosophy, religions and human nature
I see incidences and disasters
I see, I feel, I experient
I act, I learn
I recall, I remember
I see with feelings and love
I see the visible
And feel the invisible
But
Some people see the invisible
And feel the invisible
I think that's the love of God

Early daybreak
The mountainous areas
Still shrouded in mist
The sceneries cloaked
The surroundings look ghostly misty
Sunrays blocked
By mountains and trees
Difficult to see the road ahead
With the car's light on
A thick light
Penetrates through the mist
To give us some clear views
Before the mist finally lifted
By the sunrays
The mist just looks like
The evils and sordid affairs
In the existing world
Blocking our views
Only with light like wisdom
We can be saved
From all these illusions and fallacies

I was walking beneath the dimness of a misty night
With a cheerful mind full of optimism, “all is well”.
Myriad noises were hovering in hectic riots of light
Yet one mild voice made my silent conscience swell.
I was passing by so hurriedly while I abruptly heard
A grave utterance of an infant unto another, saying,
“Really, people of this world have become so bad”.
I became astounded by a kid’s deep understanding.
Cynicality has left a mark even in softest of bosom.
I wonder why an innocent child would remark thus
Though it had not met with reality, harsh, gruesome.
Or was it already a victim, like each enslaved mass?
Perhaps his tiny eyes too observed the human-fiend
That devours the weaker ones with their sharp teeth.
Raw power is hovering around the afflicted mankind
And camouflaging, many Evils are rising underneath.
