creation’s wet glory...croaking:
ancestral tales of grandeur.
mammal sigils:
evoking tootling
trespassers of environmental legacy;
nature redeeming medicines
sustaining miracles of light...EPA
earth.provides.assistance:
yet mankind defers pollution-free
toxic-free lakes of life.
scatter kingdom:
encroaching breaths spew
poisonous darts of entitlement
never biblically enforced;
gather eggs of free-will, lay deep
in vined elegance towering
beneath second-heaven despisers
of extant species.

Those who crave Earth’s wealth without end
They claim to hate debt
But have seen nothing yet
Like phone bills "T-Mobile" might send!
Author's note: It seems ironic and strange that debt haters (like tea party supporters, for
example) and those who are pushing more reliance on fossil fuel and less "subsidy" for
renewables (Romney/Ryan for example) support the continuation of policies and
practices that will damage the environment and that will hurt future generations. They are
pushing growth and not pushing conservation. I would have more respect for them if
they talked about the costs as well as the benefits of their plans. I wonder if it might just
be a scam to reward large corporations for the short term and stick it to the rest of us for
generations. That would be nothing new.
The GOP are talking about doing away
With the EPA
But The Environmental Protection Agency
Makes sure that factories don’t pollute the air we breathe
They say “Kill that act”
Just because they want to run their businesses with ease
If the Clean Air Act is obliterated
Than with pollutants we’ll be saturated
The EPA is a good agency
Making businesses clean up their act
These are the facts:
The EPA has resources to help prepare for and respond
To both natural disasters and hazardous substance spills
And that’s the law they want to kill?
The EPA provides information on the environmental hazards
That can threaten our health in our everyday lives
So let’s see eye-to-eye and stop this strife
With bombastic lies
On that night two foolish fish
Were found garnished on his dish
They’d dropped out of school
For playing the fool
Not to die had been their wish

To be consumed by his date
Foolishness still there
Humans unaware

This limerick was born out of a joke between me and a soup member about the benefits of vegetarianism. I had joked that with MAD cow, and bird FLU, soon there would be a breakout of FOOLISH fish. The person quipped that it was because the fish had “dropped out of school” and challenged me to write a poem….Well, here it is. Some facts:
Fish is known to be the best type of meat to consume because of the Omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. However, care should still be taken when consuming fish. “Fish is one of the most polluted foods we eat. Unfortunately, nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of methylmercury, which is poisonous to the brain. Mercury accumulates in fish when polluted water is filtered through their gills. The longer a fish lives, the more the mercury accumulates. Large fish eat small fish and accumulate all of the mercury that was in the small fish. This mounts up exponentially. Our tissues also accumulate the mercury of all the fish we eat throughout our lifetimes. No fish is completely free of mercury and other pollutants. If you eat fish regularly, your body is undoubtedly high in mercury. High body stores of mercury cause brain damage and memory impairment, leading to dementia. It has been demonstrated that fish contain enough mercury to harm an unborn baby or harm a young child’s developing nervous system” (Dr Fuhrman).

Have you ever been in someone's attic?
And found them to be a frantic fanatic
Wondering where could be their brain
Knowing when to get out of the rain.
One night had desperate drastic dream
If he was President and reigned supreme
With hollow head in White House did live
And to elegant EPA a party would give.
Next day after he had gone out of town
Came back and water turned all brown
And why in world would you go to Flint
To hear someone with a Southern accent.
Next morning looked at White House lawn
Nothing was there and it all had gone
Popular belief and thought quite contrary
Not one note could poor President carry.
Then voters started coming out in throngs
White House is exactly where Hillary belongs

But words can have broad repercussions.
So when he writes
He should select them well,
Not just to sell,
But so they don't arouse the scrutiny
Of those guys who comprise Homeland Security
And become the subject of discussions
Of the FBI, the CIA,
The DAR, the DMV,
The IRS, the IRA,
USPS, the EPA,
The PTA, SPCA,
AARP or AAA,
Twitter, NAACP,
The NFL, the MLB,
The LGBTQ community,
The NRA, the PGA,
NASA or the BBB,
Ellen, Oprah, Dr. Phil,
An ad hoc Sunday sermon bill,
Or his city, county, state constabulary.
