Best Emmy Poems
The other day, I was visiting the home page at Poetry Soup
and noticed a picture of a guy named Willie Shakespeare
His poems are okay but I found his plays a bit hard to follow
For example: “To be or not to not to be: That is the question”
Really Billy? I mean you either IS or you AIN’T right?
SO, I commented on some of his poems just to encourage him
and guess what? Not ONE-SINGLE-COMMENT in return!
I even tried Soup Mail offering kind, polite advice and critique
No dice! Zilch! Zero! Perhaps it was the style tips I suggested?
That collar's gotta go...Can you IMAGINE in the midst of summer?
I am now convinced that ego and resentment were involved
So I decided to try Eddie Poe and honestly? His stuff is WEIRD
and Ed, I hate to break this to you but: Ravens don't talk
Did the same with Bobby Frost, Benny Johnson and some others
Same old song and waltz, not a peep out of a single ONE of them
To top it off, I Souped Emmy Dickinson (I wanted to ask her out)
I suggested that she might want to edit the first line of her poem from:
“I dreaded that first robin so" to:
“I dreaded that first robin like you wouldn’t BELIEVE”
Her silence was deafening.
Just who do these people think the ARE?
Light bulb! Now I know why PS crams them all together on the right hand end.
They feel sorry for these poet wanna-be’s, but not ME. I will continue to mentor

Cher, why do I love you? Is it your dancing? Your acting?
Is it your singing? The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour?
Thirty million viewers a week cannot be wrong.
Gypsy, Tramps and Thieves is one of my all-time favorite songs
But she has to be sung by you to elicit full power.
Cher, you are so beautiful in Bob Mackie’s costumes.
I can close my eyes and see the Indian headdress on you
With your sweet flat belly button showing.
And your all powerful dancing eyes as you made fun of Sonny.
Mask, The Witches of Eastwick and Silkwood are favorites with me
Because you were in there, showing your vulnerabilities, being yourself.
You have won a Grammy, an Emmy and an academy award.
The people love you, and I am one of them. You showed us what a woman can do.
Cher, you are the only artist to have a number one single
On the Billboard charts in six consecutive decades.
Your philanthropic efforts and social activism
Are icing on the cake that is you, Cher.

"If I feel physically,
as if the top of my head been taken off,
I know it's poetry."
--Emily Dickenson
~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~
No money no honey from this honey
You may look but won’t rub this fine tummy;
That maybe so, but I ain’t no dummy
Shining like gold—don’t you touch this Emmy!
Pay gone, drunk, smoky, come acting thuggy,
Don’t treat me like an Egyptian mummy;
You have nerves to tell me I look yummy
Step back—know that I will not be chummy!
Say what, you will find another bunny?
Git, to your saloon playing gin rummy;
Tonight I’m keeping safe my sweet plumy
Leave—before I pull my New York Jimmy!
Swiftly, before doorknob hit your bunny,
Shuggy—I ain’t got time tonight bummy!
Captain Kirk, an adventurous guy,
flew through galaxies beyond earth’s sky
on an old sci-fi show
which was canceled although
crazy fans would not let Star Trek die!
First for having the Captain Kirk name,
William Shatner achieved certain fame.
Illusions can shatter;
though older and fatter,
Shatner still is a STAR all the same!
* William Shatner earned both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his quirky
role as Denny Crane and Emmy nominations until the end of the series
Boston Legal. Also he appears on numerous comedy and tv shows, does
cameos, interviews, conventions, commercials, twitter, and book writings
and has a star on both the Hollywood and the Canadian Walk of Fame.
A witty puppeteer of still creations
Wooden images of live emotions
Rubber, plastics, foam and paper
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am thinking of evolution
My theory reveals the nature's mystery
"It all begins in the sea, our ancestry."
Scientists bow in my appreciation.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am a doctor prescribing medication
My job is to keep diabetes at bay
"Please take this pill twice a day."
Patients are full of admiration.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am an actor performing an imitation
My act amazes the most critical person
"It's elementary, my dear Watson."
A deserving Emmy nomination.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am writer requiring direction
My book is a thriller
'Vengeance of a charitable killer.'
An interesting plot in formation.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am an army officer defending my nation
My command evokes my army
"Today, we shall crush the enemy."
Daring acts of retribution.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am a philosopher seeking a solution
My notion predicts the downfall of capitalist mentality
"Change we must for eco-friendly sustainability."
A guaranteed life time award and recommendation.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am a leader of revolution
My speech inspires the people to fight
"Brothers and Sisters, it's our birth right."
A sea of charged up population.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am building a perfect nation
My government is the epitome of socialism
"Minister, I see a populace full of optimism."
Few steps away from perfection.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am a poet of aspiration
My prose is a limerick
"Hmm! It rhyme's with 'Blackadder's' 'Baldrick' "
It's a poetic exaggeration.
A tale from the soliloquies of my imagination
Now I am me dreaming about another impersonation
My brain needs to stop
"Oh God! need no more dreams to pop."
Wonder why I always keep dreaming a situation.
P.S the soliloquies are in quotes
Limerick
If it were only me, I will be doing anyhow
Nobody would have been there to challenge me now
Now I look back into the face of the future,
What I see, golden grains, people of peasant pictures;
Red roses rooted in the soils of 29th August,
Some still sailing other down in the dazzling dust;
Blessed blueprint on earth pages by sincere sages,
Firm footprint by men with messages for all ages:
Ingrid Bergman, the mother of motion picture
Won worldwide awards, with firm face and features.
Michael Jackson, king of pop, sensational singer,
Dances and drums, thrilled the throng with Thriller*
Isabel Stanford, first African American, actress- leader
To win Emmy Award, Guess who is coming to dinner*
William Friedkin, award winning American producer,
The French connection*, the exorcist’s*… super screenwriter.
Richard Attenborough; British born, powerful TV producer,
Multiple Award winner for Gandhi *: a daring drama.
Rebecca De Mornay; an American film and TV actress,
Thrilled in the Testament* and her roles in Risky business*
Oh, Lauren Collins; an alluring actress, a colorful Canadian;
Thrilled in The Next generation*; she shares my day: a Nigerian.
John McCain, an ambitious American politician, a senior senator,
From Arizona, lived a lively life, formerly an active aviator.
Thom Gunn, a passionate and multiple award-winning poet,
For priceless poems collections…the man with night sweats*
Charles Kettering, American, an inspiring, intriguing inventor,
Invented automobile self starter and engine-powered generator.
Too many to mention: poets, actors, sportsmen and philosophers
Men and women: wise, wild and wonderful; lively, not loafers.
Adeite Adeleke, see the soaring stars who share thy dear date;
Learn from their fame, faults and frailty, focus on faith and fate.
no
i want to be in the dark
clearly my thoughts and words have no bearing
so why should i say a
word to you
huh?
my opinion...you
a word of wisdom from me you seek
really...
gasp!!!
an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy I just received
"I'D like to thank God for blessing me with a...brain!"
you actually believe i can think....
are you sure?
will it change the image...
do you hear an actual person...an adult
5'11"...and still a child....
im living in a world where art is basically plasma
where imagery,and double entandres bring asthma
my vision's metaphorical,i swim through stanzas
and to have lack of substance is to breathe in cancer.
its seems now-days dropping knowledge is a crime-
in a literate way,i litter it
but who reads any ways,might as well be illiterate
technology's the new thing i just might consider it...
and let my words go cyber
my poetry's nutritous,brings your mindset fiber
oh,gosh put a mussle on his brain-he's a problem
im the answer,go and ask a mathematical problem
silence...r.i.p to Emmy Noether,while were on that subject^.
the things in our society just seem so suspect..
apologies for all the waisted time you just spent
but you just witnessed the making of my carbon foot print
Light Verse
Casting aside the blunt reality
My conscious swims into the realm of all possibilities
The transition is totally automatic
I wonder if they are my subconscious' semantic
Different scenarios demand different imitations
I direct and act these inceptions.
(Scenarios)
Amidst a bus trip
Whirled in theories of evolution
Nature reveals self
Nature calls bowel
Scientist lingers, cures cancer
NOBEL in my hand
Reading morning news
Leader reforms, policies change
World at peace, prosperity
Youtube UFO's
World crisis, battling aliens
Hero saves the day
Inspiring theatre
Cool actor begins career
Wins emmy, smart speech.
A stroll to market
Writing a fictional piece
Booker, money, wife
Countless imaginations about every possible theme
At the end I reign supreme
After the end comes the brute reality
Chaos and confusion dominates my serenity
This is all about my tangential reality.
Good actor, yet Razzie Award winner, Rob Lowe,
was one of People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” although
his hair he has dyed since the day
in his twenty-fourth year that he says he went grey!
A prime role was once offered Rob Lowe:
“Doctor McDreamy” on a hit show.
But he took on instead
two lame shows that went dead,
having stupidly let "West Wing" go!
In the 80’s a sex scandal plagued young Rob, yet
an Emmy for "West Wing" this comeback kid would get.
Also, his three-decade marriage has had no end!
This he attributes to marrying his best friend.
UP THE VALLEY
The road up the valley that time forgot.
In fifty years it changeth not.
Blackwater rests around the bend.
Like other Gold towns has seen the end
of Hotel, Post Office and the dredge.
A sleepy valley that’s now a hedge;
against this world that goes too fast.
Forever may these havens last.
At least in memory.
Nellie, Ma Ward, Ash and Emmy
To mention just a few of many,
that lived in this valley, where gold
had been the dream of old.
Some stayed, but always found.
Not enough gold and too much ground.
Dick and Aussie from up the hill.
Their huts are now forever still
No smoke winds up to paint the sky,
stirring whimsical dreams of days gone by.
The schoolhouse stands to mark the time.
Where the morning bell was heard to chime.
And children laughed, and children played.
But that was then, and none have stayed.
The river that flows forever on.
A trickle today, could rampage upon,
this valley so serene.
Lest you forget it’s sleeping might.
In flood it is an awesome sight.
But the river flows on when others have gone
Not caring not sharing our woes.
Saying this life's not endless; but must travel on
For what life brings who knows
Guess who is back
Re-writing historys slack
I keep to myself like the whiteman does to rap
Close your eyes and sleep
No longer are you the black sheep
Smile nice and wide like you won the California Lottery
For only then you will see
You had more friends than you need
As they pop a smile at you like chapagne bottles on new years eve
As you will now foot the bill
For your "new" friends now kill
To get to the prize like the clown from Oprah...oh yeah, Dr. Phil
That no talent junkie
Leaching off of Oprahs Emmy
Its safe to say that your nipple better be coated with honey
As they suck and leach off you true
Like the nazis did to the Jew
Except the end will only come when you stand tall and say f%ck you
Where were you when I was in the gutter
I called your name but you did shudder
So kiss my checkbook now my brother
When you want me to cut slack
To get your hopeless line of crack
Call Bobby and help him get Whitney back
And pay it forward like the white kid did to black
Only now you will see the light fade
As the world turns its back on your grade
As you cover your murder so slick, did you help OJ?
You lying piece of Saddam
May you die and rot in hell
While you go dont forget your paychecks in the mail
Dont forget to smile for the camera please
As I laugh while I sign a check for your deed
Please forgive me, for I hate you like a kid to a priest
Every moment seems like a new
thought of you that keeps
getting better & better,
Making every excuse to convince
myself that your not the cause I
can't stop smiling,
My fear is not that you won't
feel the same way, my fear is
that I will lose you completely,
Yearning for a chance to hold
you in my arms & kiss you
because what I feel for you
can't be put in words
