Southern Beauty

https://soundcloud.com/kentucky-gal/2014-09-27-09-15-43717a

How sweet is the southern beauty of a country rose blossom today.
Soft scents that float gently on the breeze through trees that sway.

With bare feet I wander country roads through heavenly display.
Across the emerald meadows on hills where butterflies play.

Skirt held high above knees in crystal waters of the creek I wade.
Sun kissed cheeks, rosy red as I lay 'neath the big oak trees shade.

I gaze up into the great cathedral of blue high above me.
In awe as downy white clouds float lazily along for me to see.

Like tiny feathers from heaven cherry blossoms fall to the ground.
Whilst off in the distance I hear the lonesome train whistle sound.

Quietly I watch a family of deer so shy as the tree line they grace.
Whilst the lonesome sound of the whippoorwill puts a smile on my face.

So thankful am I that these brown eyes can see.
This heavenly picture God has painted for me.

Premium Member A Peaceful I Love You

An early outing for my friend and I
We walked the winding path down to the springs
The uncut winter hay is now waist high
And in the morning breeze it softly sings

Red Indian paintbrushes are in bloom
As are the downy phlox and dogwood trees
How sweet the smell of birth in nature's womb
Attracting butterflies and honey bees

The passerine song birds are in full throat
While woodpeckers and sap suckers keep time
Mid air, white cotton hayseeds gently float
So gracefully they dance their pantomime

And in that moment, in the tarnished hay
The gurgling springs still hidden from my view
With nature's springtime beauty on display
I heard her say a peaceful. "I love you"

Called to journey
Through the passageway of my heart
I close the door and turn
Exposing myself in full surrender

Fuzzy whiteness vibrates around me
A fleecy cocoon tickles my limbs
I feel your fingertips calling out to me
Royal turquoise butterflies appear
Leading the way onward

Dissolving light waves reveal
Frolicking foam caressing sandy shores
Transparent bubbles look up at me
From in between my toes
Walking slowly, I pause
I lay down ~ cradled by the beach
Exposing my flesh to
Lapping waves which nuzzle me gently

Rising to my knees
I lay my ear against
The calm waters
Waiting for your call

Caw Caw Caw

Attentive seagulls glide close by
Bellies against the surface
Of ocean’s breast
I hear you whisper
~Join me my love ~

I raise my arms up
Feeling the breeze kiss my fingertips
I float upward
Lavender lenticular clouds
Create continents and islands
Of hope and discovery

I touch your heartbeat with
My outstretched hand
Allowing you to lead me
With your magical magnetism
Guiding me to realms unknown

We drift upward viewing twilight tendrils
Of mauves, sages and fading Prussian blues
Each movement a deepening
Of heart and soul
Receiving embedded hieroglyphics
Of passion and pain

My heart expands
My soul delights
As I weep silent tears of gratitude
Remembrances of lifetimes past

I gaze skywards witnessing
The three sisters on cliff’s edge
Pillars of strength and wisdom
Sharing insight
Pink smoke hovering
Around their downy silhouettes
As hawks, snakes, and reptiles
Of the canyonlands observe

Coyotes howl in the distance
Sensing the ceremony

With eyes closed
I feel the embrace from you
From my sisters
From the elements
From the animals
Our shared connection

We are one
I send my kiss out into the universe
As heaven’s face smiles down upon us

Parallel

Evening arrived scattering snowflakes,
I sought a solitary
Path
Through winter’s barren woods
Made magical this night
With glittering snow
Gracing every empty branch
Each twig
In the muffled silence of a downy dusk
And, thinking that I walked
Enfolded in the snowy twilight,
Only with myself,
I overlooked the footprints
Slowly walking
Side by side
With my own –
Unnoticed in the rhapsody
Of the winter’s stormy
Forest celebration
Until
The path uncurled around a curve
Revealing in the gathering dusk
Another traveler,
Familiar to my heart,
Plodding
Through the windblown drifts
Bent,
Stooping beneath a heavy burden
Slipping side to side
With every step
Until the baggage
Pulled
The bearer to the snowbound path –
A solitary figure
Captured in the jealous grip of gravity -
And so I left my reveries,
My path,
Crossing through the unmarked snow,
The snowy wall,
Between us
To lift the burden
Of my companion in the twilight
To follow in the footsteps –
In silence -
And
Knowing
I could not lead upon this path,
Nor walk within the chambers of another heart,
But only trace the tracks
Outlining the journey of my friend
In this brief moment of time and stars
Beneath a darkening sky
Till we would walk in parallel
Again.

The Billabong

There’s an old river course with beginning and end,
now the river runs straight without this river bend,
where the water is still and the reeds do grow strong.
New life has taken over in a billabong.

The mat rush is spreading replacing the sedge,
and old fallen gum trees lean in from the edge
creating a haven in the shelter below
for smelt or gudgeon, and the common minnow.

There’s a ring on the water, so danger is nigh,
and life is now over for one caddis fly.
Dragonflies hover on their predator flight,
so mosquito and midges best keep out of sight.

There is many a song around a billabong
to break up the still with an assembly throng
from birds of the forest, and wading birds too,
so the billabong offer is there to pursue...

... for blue heron and egret, coot and the teal,
and for the banded rail that the bulrush conceal.
In the billabong shadowed by gum and ti-tree,
bellbirds are tinkling; wattlebirds disagree.

An oft-diving grebe keeps on searching for food
for the striped downy chicks of its latest brood,
and a hunting kingfisher waits keen for its prey
from a twig of a gum tree it frequents all day.

There is many a scent around a billabong,
filling the air with the perfume quite strong,
from black wattle and mint bush, or mistletoe
cascading from gum trees where only they grow.

Painted lady butterfly flit upon flowers,
and blue banded bees keep on working for hours
on lilies and orchids, heath, sweet appleberry
and clusters of flowers on a native cherry.

Ribbon weed, nardoo spread out in the shallow,
with buttercup, duckweed; an introduced mallow,
struggling for survival near the water line,
aiding coral pea that does lightly entwine.

The banks of a billabong are dangerous too
with predator snakes not so often in view,
but they are aware, that the growling grass frog
will climb from the water onto an old log.

But tigers and copperhead, red-bellied black
often lay in the sun on an overgrown track,
where the wombat or wallaby travel along
to graze on native grasses near the billabong.

So life still carries on around the billabong
where water looks stagnant, a bond is still strong
with a river now rushing it’s way to the sea,
past the billabong living, where the course used to be.

the solitude
the silence
silence of a bee in the forest
silence of the leaves
leaves on majestic trees
leaves my soul quivering
quivering treasures
quivering happiness and joy
joy of freedom and journeying on
joy in my soul beyond time
time entangled in vines
time to pause in the emerald
emerald windswept meadows trembling
emerald velvet foliage creeping
creeping and creeping the embroidery of green
creeping sunlight fills the shadows
shadows are where the violets sleep
shadows hide a hundred chirping wings
wings of the poets dreamy muse
wings of a little butterfly kissing the decay
decay in the tangled branches
decay beautiful and divine
divine tufts of yellow
divine bliss in silence
silence in the garlands of green
silence in hushed echoes
echoes of unseen songsters
echoes of wild streams bubbling and flowing
flowing pen
flowing words and verses
verse amongst the scattered dandelions
verses in the whispering calm
calm the clusters of vines twining
calm the bliss
bliss in a deep canopy of towering giants
bliss under an azure above
above the cowslip and foxglove
above blue birds fly
fly downy wings
fly with the sweet wind
wind that whispers in my ears
wind that lifts the tufts of pretty flowers
flowers wilted and dying
flowers with petals forlorn
forlorn my poetic words
forlorn and weeping
weeping on tattered paper in solitude
weeping poems and rhymes and verses
created in the silence
solitude . . .

The Chill of Winters Breath

Against the velvet canvas of night the downy snow falls all around me.
Silence deafening, falling upon my ears in this winter wonderland I see.

The chill of winters breath places it's kiss upon rose petal skin so light.
Whilst I stand 'neath tiny flakes and behold this magnificent sight.

I adore the silence of this winter wonderland that only my soul does know.
As I walk by crystal streams that flow dotted white with cottony snow.

Oh the heavenly peace that encompasses my soul this wintry night.
As the snow glistens and sparkles under the soft glow of moonlight.

I stand awestruck as I gaze upon snow covered emerald pine.
Dusted in winters frosty touch so heavenly sublime.

God placed a love of winters beauty within my lil' ol' country heart.
Soft memories of this wonderland from my mind will never part.

(Inveniam viam)

Far beyond these eerie things, where limits have no scales
Fish are replacing gills, with turbine aerated tails
Sea level’s losing all meaning, for the humpback whales
Ships piggyback them, harpoons syphon wind from their sails

Today I woke up early, lately I’ve let dreams flow
Into an abstract yonder, where visions often go
A wave came over me, up from my downy pillow
When tidal forces passed away, many moons ago

As the ocean waved goodbye, I called for an encore
Behaving like a poultice, the beach drew back old gore
You could’ve bowled me over, sent ripples to my core
Never again I’d sleep soundly, near this bloody shore

After a fretful lie-on, facing truths with each turn
My sundial running on empty, stars can’t always churn
Moribund in dimness, til an old spark can return
Reigniting glory days, (let supernovae burn)

Overhead the vacuum grows, just to make more space
Stretching my dysmorphia, to align with gods face
No one knows for certain, who enhanced his human race
Gave an artful hand, outsmarting evolution’s pace

As life spirals forward, in a world out of control
Entropy dismantles, stripping back our maker’s role
The poet in me keeps goofing, digging deeper holes
He’s a junkie rhymester, overdosing on this soul

So hail all billionaires, who never walk down my street
Flying above fake cripples, with power in their feet
Prodigies of bad and worse, scheming to make ends meet
Leaves an aftertaste of smugness, one that will repeat

As for those big questions, some take a straightforward twist
Two things I thought might go away, stubbornly exist
Not death or taxes, I’m already over that list
Each day I arise, how come lies and bullsh!t persist?

First there was oblivion, til I woke up and saw
Now fully awake, dead ahead looms a fatal flaw
But so long as I can dream, and able to guffaw
It only hurts when I laugh, Don’t you think? vents my jaw

Earth whispers
I hear her
I am here to receive
Nuances of flight and discovery
My senses warm with anticipation

Fragments of hope and desire
Pain and loss
Arrive on moonbeams of broken glass
Shattered dreams sing
Delivering silky threads
Glistening with seedlings of rebirth

Opening my heart, I close my eyes
Leaning forward into the warmth of the sun
Wearing my vulnerability on my sleeve
I dive headfirst off the cliff
Opening my arms to capture
The energy of the moment

Fingertips outstretched, reaching out
Beckoning encounters with the here and now
How wonderous to receive you
Dear light and love
I journey into what was – what is - and what will be

Messages arrive from you
Feathered musical notes
Cries from the lonely ones
Howls from the night animals
Thunderheads boom in the distance
Piercing the velvet blackness

A warm wave caresses me as you glide by
Tickling me with your tailfeathers
Magic in motion as time stands still
Inside the teardrop I gaze outward
Immersed in the beauty of
What it means to be alive

Persimmon heartbeats envelope me
A gentle rhythm as we rise
To the downy envelope between
Earth and sky
Gliding in peace and unity
Through star crusted waves of
Lavender light
Exhaling gratitude

Softly You Dream

https://soundcloud.com/kentucky-gal/2015-01-22-13-25-41722a

~Your dreams so tenderly wrapped in satin pleasures 'neath pillowed head.
As loves velvet touch so warmly embrace under downy covers in your bed.

Deep kisses in the darkest of night you nuzzle jasmine scent in auburn hair.
Romantic thoughts caressing delicately milky sweet softness of skin so fair.

So moist your honeyed lips like morning dew on the rosebud in bloom.
Whilst you dream of soft brown eyes beckoning to stay in your hearts room.

Heavenly dreams that take you to an angels loving arms tonight.
Where she takes you to her breasts so warm,so tenderly in plain sight.

In heavenly dreams know you are my every desire my sweet addiction my need.
Where two lovers embrace in satin pleasures and love plants it's seed. ~

Premium Member Treasure of My Soul

I held an angel in my arms today,
A precious babe snuggled against my breast.
And my heart was overwhelmed with so much love,
As she lay contentedly at rest.

I watched her as she slept so soundly,
Gazed at her cherub face in sweet repose.
I marveled at her tiny features,
Like her dainty shell-like ears and button nose.

I brushed my lips against her downy head,
Her skin like velvet to my touch.
I gave thanks to God above for His priceless blessing
Of this little angel girl I love so much.

The birth of my first grandchild has awakened,
A joy that my soul cannot contain.
From day one my heart's been captured by her,
Firmly caught and held by love's strong chain.

Premium Member Churchyard At Midnight

Twas darkness upon the quietly residing heath...
And deathly was the sullen red sandstone tower...
Standing gloomily inside the masons dry-stone walls
Amidst toppling granite slabs and the faded, wilting flower.

Solemn was the chime of the hollow, mournful bell
When tolling out on midnights grimly sombre  hour;
And thinly the swirling, unearthly mist
Did so wend abouts her silent, melancholic bower.

Where from a fronded yew of venerable years,
Besides ancient trunks of ivy-entwined gnarly oak,
A chilling screech from a sudden ghostly apparition...
Summoning upon waking resident souls - did thus invoke!

For pale his form in soft white downy flight...
But none paler than that of me...
As across from the stream, held by an unblinking stare -
My shaky fears are transfixed so unnervingly!

Oh wise old feathered sage of long owl-lived age,
Unctuous incumbent of learned perch within black night,
Allow this the moment to calm my pounding heart...
And catch upon my fleeing thoughts - after such a wicked fright!!

The poem must begin with .. And the cemetery was then continue with your poem

And the cemetery was shrouded in a veil of early morning mist
which rose eerily from the grey granite and marble graves.
Desperately searching I crept silently from gravestone to gravestone.
My breath came out in tiny white clouds
as soft white snowflakes performed pirouettes,
falling like a downy blanket over the cold marble.

Eventually I came across your final resting place
I recognised the two golden cherubs, carved on either side of your headstone
Gently I brushed away the snow and traced your names with my fingertip
It had only been a few weeks since you had fallen asleep forever
How I longed to hold you and sing you both a lullaby
But it was too late and you lay together in the arms of Jesus
I placed two red roses on the snowy pillow
Then lay down and waited for the sleeping pills to take effect
So we could be reunited in death

Premium Member Chased By the Dawn

In the downy-soft hours, where dawn hovers near,
Night's uncovered dream, must disappear.
Once, delivered, then replaced,
Never to be traced,
Drifting on,
Chased,
By the dawn.
Fantasies misplaced,
Become silver clouds, erased.
Lost in forever, quite far from here,
In the downy-soft hours, where dawn hovers near

Perhaps I was half asleep.
I always felt drowsy at night.
I sensed her warm body snuggling near me.
She put her head on my shoulders.
Her cuddles sent me to seventh heaven.
I only hoped she did not mind
The stubble on my unshaven face.
Still I was elated when as I felt
Her smooth downy face next to mine.
How fragrant was her exquisite hair,
I guessed it resembled a Soleil Neige,
An elegant and mesmerising perfume.
I took a deep breath, indulging
In its fruity nectar…so I opened my eyes.
Only to see an empty bed and a lumpy pillow.
