Best Doomsday Poems
You go about your daily life, but do you even care ?
That one day you will wake up and your earth's not there
And what I'm about to tell you may come as quite a shock
But it's only two minutes to midnight on the Doomsday clock.
In nineteen forty seven the worlds scientists did all agree
To create some sort of symbol to show the end of humanity
So an imaginary clock was made for all of us to see
And when the clock chimes midnight, it's the end for you and me .
We're in the nuclear age now with climate change as well
And some of our world leaders are ringing our death knell
When they test their nuclear bombs the big hand starts to move
What in the name of God I ask, are they all trying to prove.
There won't be any winners, we'll all cease to exist
All of us will be vaporised in a cloud of nuclear mist
The ozone layer, the Artic ice and the forest's too
Are all slowly being eroded, but what can we all do.
Well you can vote for people, that can help mankind survive
And if they get in then there's a chance, we'll get out of this alive
There is still some time though with two whole minutes to go
But please don't say you weren't warned or that you didn't know.

The sun burned bright before the dawn
The moon winked twice, and then was gone
It rained down snow amidst the heat
Unnatural, discord's drumbeat...
Pets walked their masters to and fro
There wasn't any place to go
Attractions closed, most shops shut down
Where once were smiles, now only frowns...
TV's news shows just yammered on
Folks turned away, suppressing yawns
Hid in their rooms, and played their games
The world they knew, now up in flames...
The world collapsed at eventide
Its soul gone rotten from inside
The hour is late in this death-defying world,
the Reaper is singing now....
he has made melody of the many sorrows,
of the creeping immoral harmonies,
of the wars without end,
and bullets and bombs made by the bushel ---
his voice booms louder and louder in the great halls of men.....
Was it all for naught ---
those who sacrificed,
and gave their love ---
their life,
that they should cringe peering down from the heavens?
The world has become a graveyard for the righteous,
by the day what was once sacred ---
laughable for dark men ---
with one finger on the big-bomb-button,
lips licking....
for they see Babylon rising from the ashes;
and quash the Phoenix of Man ---
for he shall not rise,
lest he forsake his appetite for destruction,
and callous restraints..... ---
and bloated bank accounts.....
lest he see truth,
(and become blind with guilt)
the doomsday clock shall chime louder than all the ages....

The Mayans were an intelligent lot,
At least that’s what I’m told.
So I sat around for umpteen years
Just waiting for Doomsday to unfold
I watched as some around me
Sold everything they had.
While others took the attitude,
Awww, It won’t be all that bad.
There were many other seers –
We’ve heard them in the past.
They predicted things like earthquakes,
Or some atomic blast.
Well, the date that we read into
That gigantic Mayan wheel
Was actually unimportant
And really no big deal.
We put so much importance
On things that all began
When, perhaps, we used bad ciphering
By some old grey-haired man.
Did he know of the importance
Of things he did that day?
Or did he sit there figurin’
On tricks that he could play?
So, I’m left to sit and wonder.
Where would we be today?
Suppose he’d dropped a decimal point
Could doomsday be another day?

THE DOOMSDAY SONG
Walkin down the street,
when outa the blue
the Devil told me something
I'm gonna share with you
Best get your sinning in,
if you got some sinning left to do
It's all over! We're all gonna die.
It's all over.
Walkin down the street,
When out of the blue
Your girlfriend told me something
I'm gonna share with you.
Best get your loving in
If you got some loving here to do.
It's all over! We're all gonna die.
It's all over!
Walkin down the street
When outa the blue
Sweet Jesus told me something
I'm, gonna share with you
Best get your praying in
If you got some praying left to do.
It's all over! We're all gonna die!
It's all over!
It's all over! We're all gonna die!

man is destructive
we are destroying the earth
while ignorance grows
Doomsday Rock
In these, our final days before the end,
come in a moment, faster than the eye,
'tis easy to believe, and comprehend
what lies beyond the end, is not to die;
We'll go as one, together to the last,
a world snuffed out, by something closing in,
that's been ten billion years, and coming fast
but we won't see it coming until then;
the speed it flies is something out of dreams,
much faster than a thought, it will be there,
and what we see won't be just what it seems
until the last, we'll see it everywhere.
In this, the end, out of necessity
we'll all believe, then we'll be history.

Seventeen minutes to midnight - the world enters a new era,
nuclear arsenals reduce as peace creeps ever nearer.
Fourteen minutes to midnight - our hopes begin to fade,
as we discover no new world order, just the powder keg we've made.
Twelve minutes to midnight - there's tests on bombs non stop,
we need to sign a peace treaty to end this agitprop.
Ten minutes to midnight - Eastern Europe leaves the block,
shattering communism, the world stares back in shock.
Nine minutes to midnight - nuclear armament gathers pace,
nation challenging nation to win the world arms race.
Seven minutes to midnight - we're officially nucleoholic,
each missile's the last one, each threat of peace symbolic.
Five minutes to midnight - global warming walks on stage,
ironically nuclear power will usher in the world's new age.
Three minutes to midnight - world tensions are renewed,
disarmament grinds to a halt as superpowers obtrude.
Two and a half minutes to midnight - fake news is on the rise,
with fabricated statements, politically calculated lies.
Only two minutes to midnight - the whole world's breath is bated,
the doomsayer counting down, a holocaust long awaited.
In those two cold minutes to midnight - doomsday's knell is ringing,
announcing Armageddon, not the end but its beginning.

doomsday
musings of the end
then realizing
it's my self
I want to end
Here it comes passed starting,
close to the end of the party
in between the laughter and the jokes
the first last kiss of goodbye to hope
as the apocalyptic clock
holds a breath at two minutes locked
waiting for the word
push button feared to be heard
lost to common sense slurred -
who's the man of the hour
if all is lost, what good is power?
Threat and rhetoric
displaces time and leverage
and children bow and cover
in threat of losing what life once discovered
in past forgotten wars abhorred
memory disposed by bombs and swords
could the mind or time erase
the holocaust of the human race?
Step away a second,
give peace, diplomacy a chance
there is nothing beyond this chicken dance.

o, the young night’s roughening
palms solid upon
the drowsy faces of niger-lads –
the slow current of the stream
of sleep drifting
the niger’s world –
& we went a-stupor like old troy
besieged by fury greece –
then lovely maidens
frightened us with looks
of beautyful truthings
of the false brevity
as old priests flew
at noon doomsday-dreaming
beyond the niger-maid’s
hidden chambers …
My pen is on fire today
as I see one word leader
in particular openly condemn peace
through his vile vulgar mouth
aggression in words spitting loathsome cowboy
I for one soul among many
whom have faith in love condemn it as an act of war
so count me as your enemy
Sick listening to terrorists against peace having a voice
within vomit this world order amounts to outright bullies
pushing chaos through trying to create a cashless society
Inside the politics or this sham they all call a security council
not addressing war crimes correctly evidence there is available
and bringing our world back to stability let's get real destruction is your aim
under the flag of an eagle flies pirate colours black and white
From the house of David a lion roars
The soldiers of light are coming crowned by the Son
a mission has begun our governments hands have become stained
by innocent bloodshed through corrupt bodies
Scratchy darkness wraps our souls
Leaving us with empty goals
Sorrow sadness without controls
Road of our lives filled with potholes
Boils in our hearts about to erupt
Leave our minds filthy and corrupt
A life so sharp, blunt and abrupt
We might as well press self-destruct
Smooth sorrows like roses wilting
Love’s altar jilted tears dripping
Lies, deceit and fear a woven quilting
A parquet dance floor awkwardly tilting
A hungry, cold homeless cry
A frozen tear as a final bye
Soaking wet blankets high
This promise at birth just a lie
Faded moulded dreams decay
Stone the bastard he is gay
That’s that Old biblical cliché
Let’s not wait for doomsday
