Premium Member The Narcissist Who Saved Himself - Cynthia Howard - collaboration with Dilly Dally

nothing spoils this surface view ~ see me
crave attention, gift empty touch
tonal mask veils flaws and vices
face alter ego and kneel

to feed the shallow shadow that circles
~ around gossamer tears of the grieving moon,
as silenced streaks of tongue-twisted lines,
undress a puddle of poisoned stars

pull force imperceptible, attraction
lost in blissful contemplation
comatose until that last equation
gravitational persuasion creating longing

but will the lake that flows with fears
thaw words tangled in golden chains?
for I’ve drowned in liquified lies,
drawing perfection from imperfect reflections

delve to the depths of my spun world
peripheral interference dissipates in darkness
only requirement is carved version of self
that steadies my hand and drags me in

sinking beneath Narcissus's polluted undertow
tainted oxygen leaves my expanding lungs
hitting jagged rocks, spoiled skin shreds,
exposing a forgotten empath ~ salvation rises

In Her Absence

Here I am once more...smoking
..on the balcony of my dreams.
My heart’s beating gestures of love...pulsating,
...deserted in the darkness of lust.

Ardent thoughts conquer my mind,
While puffing circles of smoke in the midnight air,
Slowly...the smoke dissipates into the dim heavens.

Blindly...I ponder the silence of darkness,
As I gaze sightlessly...holding her in my dreams.
...with passionate...romantic strokes,
I’d softly caress her fears into oblivion,
Echoing my love...crumbling her walls of hurt.

A crimson sea...crashes onto my heart's shore.
Surging waves of yearning...ripple my flesh.
Mists of love...lace this fervent urge,
On a night...born from complete desolation.
...an endless craving...of savoring her salty taste.

She fades from my vivid dreams,
Like a puff of smoke in the midnight air.
While I helplessly sink...in the abyss of her absence.

Premium Member Elysiums Lost Melody

In dreams of yonder, wishes wistfully conceive,
A cradle of lost tomorrows, where shadows sway;
To a realm unseen, where hearts believe,
Past where twilight’s lulling lullabies lay,
A world where reverie and reality secretly play.

Through the veil of verity…
     …Aisling nocturnally creates,
Mountains of moonlight, rivers of rhyme,
A world untouched by changing tides and capricious fate.
In this land, where we lose track of all time,
A place where voices harmonize; oh, so surreal, so sublime.

A city of silence, a forest of fears,
The cloud-kissed towers, an ocean of sorrow,
Beneath twilight's gentle, silent tears.
An ephemeral world free of yesterdays and tomorrow,
A dreamscape unfolding where sleep freely borrows.

A tremor runs through castle walls,
A sigh escapes the forest deep,
Twilight's tears turn into calls
Of roosters waking from their sleep.
The ocean's sorrow shimmers pale
A canvas primed for sun's first brush.
The mountains, caught in morning's veil
     Dissolves to silence, whispers hush.

As a new dawn dances
     the dream dissipates
The illusion shatters
     reality reinstates.
For the land was an Elysium delight
A mere mirage in the moonlit night.
Dissolving in dawn's delicate dance
…like a mist in morning sacred light.

Fading Starlight sifts through leaves, painting emerald shadows on the ground.
Lost in the morning's mellowness,
          a sigh escapes,
               the dream departs,
                                   unrenown…

Though dawn reclaims the waking world,
a yearning in my heart resides,
For Elysium's lost melody,
where time and sorrow gently subside.

Premium Member Vermillion Sky

Scarlet dawn’s amethyst dye engraves vermillion sky
Embossing amber dreams upon nightmares of night
Blushing rosily on ruby arc, glinting mountains high

While reddish filaments woven in lavender float by
Scintillating morn in golden glimmers of daylight
Scarlet dawn’s amethyst dye engraves vermillion sky

Autumn’s crimson leaves fall, rustling languid sigh
As daybreak adorns lilac in brushstrokes of delight
Blushing rosily on ruby arc, glinting mountains high

Where dreary dull dissipates as cliffs of hills beautify
And awed eyes are drawn to eagle’s majestic flight
Scarlet dawn’s amethyst dye engraves vermillion sky

Enticed by sparrow’s quest when robins trills a reply
Enriching brilliance of aura, motifs in mauve excite
Blushing rosily on ruby arc, glinting mountains high

When panoramic passions of fall endearing vibes vie
Embroidered in patterns floating on iridescent sight
Scarlet dawn’s amethyst dye engraves vermillion sky
Blushing rosily on ruby arc, glinting mountains high

Premium Member Winter's Sand

Upon ice clear - frozen window pane
A single breath remains, captured warm - then dissipates

Beyond - whipped by season's song
Somehow, beauty mixes with fury
Living white smoke snakes across grassy fields
Powder dunes shift aimlessly
Seeking their space to claim

No sign of life...
The landscape foreign - engulfed as prisoner
Inside I feel much the same
But..now beside fire's glow

When winter has had her say...this sand will pass
....give way to spring's soft plush green grass

Premium Member What If There Was No Tomorrow

Meaning of oath no longer has a covenant
Guaranteeing to future commitment of pledge
Rendering futile all promises of yesterdays
As grief ridden past dominates today's sorrow
For hope's now dead, as there's no tomorrow.

Yet, I reminisce within glory of daybreaks
And opulence of colors in grandeur of sunsets
Spinning on earth's axis as night follows day
Across all continents where vast oceans reign,

And vibrant blue sky makes bold new claims
About perpetual dawns boasting on its domain
Bond of enduring love that never ever ends
Where enchanted dreams ecstatically chase.

Alas, I grasp grudgingly realities I must face--
Eternal that was indelible lasts only till today
And definition of infinity forever has changed--
Precious little time left that was once endless.

So I bid farewell, before world-beloved dissipates,
To memoirs of yore, allures of tomorrow;
Shedding all regrets, purging lovelorn woes,
Cherishing instead most intimate ornate secrets
Arrayed in desires of beautiful flower bouquets
Granting love romantic stage for one final play.

Premium Member As I Awoke:

Upon the rise from my slumber this morning,
I could not help but continued on yawning.

Another fine Summer's day I thought to myself,
A grateful soul I am for still having my health.

Straight away I thought of writing poetry all day,
But my mind still hazy, what would I say?

So I sat at my desk with pen and paper at hand,
Waiting for my mind and thoughts to expand.

Then without a clue, I started writing to you,
Try to share my emotions was the best I could do.

So as my pen wrote down words that I just couldn't find,
Leaving me at peace to explore my own mind.

I know we have never really met face to face,
The best we can do is connect in cyberspace.

But as a soul that struggles alone day by day,
I just needed this opportunity to honestly say.

I've never been one to act like a drama queen,
Nor am I one to create an unwanted scene.

Apart from my own personal problems and faults,
I know we have all had our own fair share of assaults.

And one day when the Sun fades and dissipates,
We shall all learn after all of our own fates.

Until that day we shall still share this place,
And read each other's poetry with a smile on our face.

Because I'M Galactic

All the lights dim out
as I crawl into my spacesuit.
I fill the air with crystal screams,
my mind is ripping at the seams.

If it falls apart,
I will surely wait here.
I'm made of gold in all my dreams,
surrounded by my favourite things.

The stars will age and die,
blowing matter to new places.
My flesh is celestial dust,
but my golden bones will rust.

I never asked to be here;
This equation isn't right,
All I taste is bittersweet -
there's broken dreams between my teeth.

The glowing lights will permeate,
the stardust spreads and dissipates,
and I will always wonder why.
I'll keep your secrets, hope to die.

Premium Member A Beauty Queen Dethroned

Is there a junkyard for old tiaras and outdated ball gowns?
Where does Beauty go when age has taken her crown?
Removed atop her head and passed onto the new,
smiling gracefully her rein is over her chapter is through.
The walkway has shortened the stage has reached its end
her audience abandoned her, few remembering her when.

Beauty dissolved in creases and folds.
faded pictures tell numerous stories of desires untold
lost sapphires, rubies, diamonds and lace
torn denim, short skirts and selfies have taken their place.
Roses soon wither fallen off of her pole.
Tower high stilettos now traded have soft flattened soles.

Waken one day unable to recognize this new face.
Searching for the old one but never finding a trace
of that person who was familiar, and she once knew
who was young and beautiful, without even trying to.
Haunted by yester years with memories complete.
when she held love’s attention and men fell at her feet
Commanding the room as she swung and swayed,
Beauty was immeasurable but there was a debt to be paid.

New beauty surrounds her with past souvenirs.
Reminders of time ago and broken-down years
now she’s invisible as she dissipates in the background,
with a crooked tiara and wearing last year’s ball gown.

Premium Member When Life Encounters Opaque Space

When gusty winds blow, riling my troubled dawn in gelid woes
Squall of my throes dissipates in scented whiffs of budding rose.

As brazen fog shrouds mind, heightening my grief, poking fun
Defyingly I step out in glinting rays of the dawning golden sun.

Refusing to surrender when my tears dominate indignation
Joy I find on the vibrant horizon, blazing sunset’s ruby elation.

Verdant paradise appeals to pleas, adorning my shamrock hills
Appeasing cry of stygian echoes storming from mountains of ills.

If night reigns moonless and nightmares soon rage my dreams
Comfort I find within soothing zeal of spring’s giggling streams.

While strife of life endures in raging summers of unending heat
Readily I seek blue oceans, surfing rhythmic tides’ buoyant beat.

As laments of the world drown humanity in hapless deep dive
Strength of nobility rises, helping weakened hands to survive.

When the rancor of disillusionment exudes ambivalent sigh
Autumn’s scarlet imprints eagerly vie, healing souls in russet dye.

As hindrance of the ordinary distresses progress of mankind
Delighted I am to see rationality unite, to defeat the unrefined.

When sullen is my heart aching in the anguish of ashen skies
Solace I derive from serene vibes gleaming your tranquil eyes.

At times in my life, I encounter the black-holes of opaque space
Yet, the light of day gets through in sanctuary of your embrace.

Premium Member Wrongful Conviction

Sweetened dung is shoveled down
gluttonous throats with eager appetites for
alleged misdeeds skillfully spun
into a frenzy of sensationalized hype
by media-seasoned reporters.
.
Seduced by speculation and hearsay,
a jury of pseudo-intellectuals assembles
neatly with moral turpitude tied
smug and tight around rigid white collars
stained heavy with sweat and anticipation.

She stands alone as the eyes of
the court pierce through her appraising
her posture and expression while
the echo of charges being read dissipates
with the smell of type ink and old mahogany.

Fragments of truth embellished
for shock-value and dramatic effect
spill forth as vomit
from confessional mouths
reeking of rot and fermentation.

Vulturous prosecutors rise in fluid
motion squawking accusations in
expert execution of closing arguments,
pecking apart flesh, unconscionably
scattering the meaty bones of her defense.

Premium Member Morning Mist

The mist swirls through the deep vale
shifting slowly and giving glimpses
of the lush vegetation and flowers.
Slowly it dissipates in dawn's sunlight.

Teasing as it lazily drifts
showing for a brief second
a colourful bank rife with flowers.
Then blankets it from sight.

As the day warms up
it appears to thicken
then yield oh so slowly.
Wisps of mist now fading.

Before our eyes lies
startling beauty.
Nature's riches displayed
a wealth of orange and yellow.

Pinks, purples and blues vie
each more beautiful
and lavish green trees
gently shade the saplings.

The Treasure of Nature's Canvas
is now stretched out before us
while the birds happily sing
as they rush to build their nests.

Insects buzz with joy as they collect
the pollen and nectar from flowers.
In this new spring day
life itself is reaffirmed.

The Beacon of Hope

When you dread the break of day
and wait with the bated breath
the dawn of dusk
for an eerie peace to descent,
When the balmy twilight
singes your soul and you yearn
for the welcoming arms of darkness,
When you begin to walk
and lose all sense of direction
but are too far down the road
to turn back,
When you turn to your friends
and find none to comfort you,
When the concept of an all pervading God
dissipates like the morning mist
besetting you with doubts and fear;

Then in the midst of a looming storm,
death appears like a beacon of hope
beckoning your weary soul ashore.

~Free Verse contest by Laura Loo

Torturous Twenty Four.

Forlorn in midnights vastness
Twinkling cousins as patient companions
She covets him
Her blushing glow pacifying the empty night
Descending toward dawn
Anxious Lingering

He will come for her…

Slowly the stars fade out and night dissipates in morning mist
Ocean breezes begin murmuring the promise
Life begins again this new day

He ascends the heavens upon brilliant light
His rending ardor glowing sultry upon her face
Almost becoming one they embrace in chaste love
Only for the moment before she falls away

Mirroring souls caught in a cyclical lovers dance
Reaching out for the other at dawn and dusk
Losing one another time and again

Forlorn within the midday skies
Gentle clouds and albatross as patient company
He yearns for her
His heavy radiance granting the gifts on the new day
Descending towards twilight
Restless Lingering

She will come for him…

Premium Member Rhoda and Phil-A Sad Goodbye

Florid hues of soft petaled flowers
cast satin rose splashes of pastel colors
that move within the cool morning shade,
as the brilliance of the smiling sun reflects
its warm beams of life from each delicate bud.

Rhoda, so fragile, stands gazing for hours
watching the stains as they dance in the shadows
cast before her like captive souls of forgotten dreams,
her lonely heart betrayed by a single wet stain
left drying as the dew burns slow from the mud.

The day advances past Phlox and Cornflowers
when she spies him near, alone in the sun,
a new friend she hopes yet he seems out of place,
with exotic movements and hypnotic grace
which stirs, anew, an emotional flood.

"Phil," he says, his hand reaching for hers
as smiling petals rim her lips,
too quickly her heart is lost to new love,
and together they enter a beautiful bliss,
as she dreams of sharing his name, if she could.

Time passes by into gentle warm showers,
the golden rays peek through to dry each leaf,
then their lonely shadows lengthen to one
and together they revel in their new found love
in the darkness of this lonely, bleak wood.

Betoken breeze blows cold through the bowers
as a cloud passes by and his shadow dissipates,
Rhoda and Phil Odendron, she whispers their names,
and she looks, and he's gone, and her poor heart breaks
past the smiles, past love, he's now gone for good.
