Danish Pastry

Small things Remembered

The shop at the corner
Of my childhood
Has stopped selling Danish pastry
Nor has it Coco macrons,
Milk and cheese
The rooms are bare
On its counter cutting cheeses in smaller portion
An old fashion weight
Used when selling butter
Dusty windows
Forgotten, no one says: remember where
We bought our milk?
The bell that rang when opening it door
Will not chime anymore
Perhaps someone will buy it and make it
Into a wine-bar, it is the trend now
They are trying to make us into posh alcoholics,
And I have a sudden hunger for Danish pastry.

Premium Member Danish and Fart

There was a certain shopper at Walmart
Who would order a Danish and fart---
   But his diarrhea
   Gave him an idea---
He'd package and sell it as 'Cherry Tart'

A Cheese Danish and French Vanilla Latte Christmas Memory-Part 1

i was coming from the break room
ready to open something sweet
when i pass by the room of a smiling kid
it was Christmas Day and the kid had tears in her eyes
her parents and other family members were Thanking and Praising God around her
it was then when i saw here cute, round, plump face that i remembered little julie steinbach
she turned 6 in june and jokingly said she wanted my cheese danish for her birthday
it is then that a nurse exiting the room with tears in her eyes as well exited the room
curious, i asked him what the source of such joyful, tearful emotion was
he told me the little julie steinbach just found out that she is now cancer free
it is then that my eyes too began watering and a smile took over my face
i asked if i could see her, and the nurse said sure
i politely and respectfully knock and little julie's eyes just lit up when she saw me
i told her and all in there that i just heard about the wonderful Blessing that they received this Christmas
i told little julie steinbach that i just bought a very special Christmas gift for her
she said 'gimmie gimmie' and i placed it in her hand
here eyes light up like the Christmas lights in the city when i put two cheese danishes in her hand
she asked if she could have some milk and her parents said in unison 'whatever you desire julie jewels'
i gave her the biggest hug and kissed her on her little forehead
being that my break had been over for a while, i wished little julie steinbach and all who love her a Merry Christmas
with that, i had to move on to where i left off
when i finally got off work that night, i attempted to go back to see little julie but she had already been discharged

The Danish Device

once when my heart was heavy
sought refuge in a place where the laughter was strange
where there were men of pestilence in their souls
but it was a place to call home
it was a place that in the cold of night remained warm
you might be frightened by the gleam in their steel shod eyes
but i know the road they have walked in heavy silence
and i know that nothing forgiven is ever regretted
stealing away with scraps of their souls
at the dinner table of the paupers and pawns
at the crowning moment of failure
goodnight and goodbye they call out so fondly
because a few days from christmas we all look so perfect
we all look like we are living in a better place
so let these dark eyed men carry away your fears
let them wrap you in the stillness and slumber
and drift off to sweet dreams

A Cheese Danish and French Vanilla Latte Christmas Memory-Part 2

though i have not seen her since, i hope that she only flourishes in adulthood for she would be 26 now
it was immediately as i was thinking of her that a younger coworker put a card in my hand as i was taking my first break
it was from (not so little) julie steinbach for she grew to be 6'2
she is now a successful professional basketball player in some league in france
she is hoping to make it to the wnba someday
it is then that i pray that dream and goal of her into existence
she also included that she has been cancer free since she left all those may Christmases ago
the tears immediately started to fall from the oh so wonderful feeling of being remembered
God taught me a valuable lesson that particular day
i will now pay that lesson forward to others
oh, by the way, included in the card from (now too tall) julie stainbach was a gift card
the message in the little box that the gift card was in read simply, 'they make the best cheese danishes'
i laughed heartily, finished my cheese danish and french vanillia latte, and got back to it

Danish Married To a Scottish

The Woman is A Danish
And married to A Scottish
But often heard in English:
Language she speaks with relish…

But the Rather Stand-Offish:
At times slippery like Fish
Or like things one wouldn’t wish,
For example Leaf-Filled Dish
To be served Vegetarian
Or Flesh to a Barbarian…

A Thief-Catching Librarian
And Confirmed True Lutheran!

Danish Apparel

here me

here
me
i
say
ahh
danish
you say
excuse me miss
we have seemed
to have lost our kiss
ahh yes
here it is
beyond me
how this happens
your eyes have stunned me
as if to say your heart called me
what time is this that we have known
until now has there ever really been time
we dare you to kiss me
another slap
of
how
dare thee

ahh yes
excuse me miss
what is this an love letter
and an fine
how
do
you do

may we taste the newest lip style
gushing my salts to the point
of
hushness

she scooted closer to me
she scooted closer to me
she scooted closer to me an put her hand on mine
said
we don't have to dance
just look in my eyes
she musta seen
through an
part
of
me
mind got twisted
forgot how to breathe
fell on the floor with my hands on my neck
in walked her man kicked me in the head
as i looked down the barrel
thinking
what a way to go
choking
on
danish apparel

Subject Can Their Bad Kings Banish

Subjects can their Bad Kings banish:
Their Lords that image tarnish
By being decisive and mannish
While proving them a clannish
After bribing schnapps of the Danish
And deceiving wine the Spanish!

Subjects must the details furnish
Of the wrongs by Monarchs to banish
And if they wish some garnish
Or the entire narrative varnish!

Subjects should Terrible Kings punish
Their faults ceases to burnish
Their eulogy for The–Without–Blemish.

Premium Member Sweet Danish

the cup, a sip away,
just out of reach,
as i taste
all your poetry —
like sweet danish
to my caffeinated morning.

the cup, just out of reach,
but i’m too excited to read
the lovely confections
in front of me.

my hand longs to grab
the mug’s handle,
but like a cloud
i drift.

finally, i take a sip —
lukewarm at best,
but
friends
you
are
worth it!

danish - Danish pastry

the Danish imbroglio

a Danish imbroglio

The Danish prime minister is appealing to Europe to stop Trump’s idea of taking Greenland and making it an American state
What he wants not that he is overly interested
is to be sure that no other country places
bases on Greenland’s still-cold soil like Russia
or China
the Vikings when Greenland had a period of thawing had farms there, which tells us the brave Vikings were mostly farmers, their fierceness is a national lie
As for Europe helping look another way they
write the declaration of good intent and should
Say, Trump, post troops on the Island, the EU
will wring their hands and do nothing
We know this when Gaza suffered a mini holocaust it lamented, but otherwise, did nothing, even Germany in her misguided sense
of guilt lasting for generations sent weapons to Israel
So, we tell Denmark you are on your own to deal
with this new situation, but to give more money for the defense of Greenland is futile
Perhaps the Danish “hygge” might help

Premium Member SEATTLE DAY 3

Today we visited the Farmer’s market in Ballard.
It was a beautiful sight to see…
Booths that stretched for two whole blocks….managed by people of all diversities…

On our way to the Farmer’s market…
(I love when we discover surprises out of our control)
we happened upon one of Thomas Dambo’s six Northwestern trolls.

We also visited the Ballard Locks…
where we could actually see
the wonder of their engineering…a testament to ingenuity.

I’d love to say these are the reasons we went to Ballard..
for as terrific as that would be….
the truth is we heard Ballard has a Danish Bakery.

The troll, the Farmer’s Market, and the locks were amazing
we truly loved all of these….
but…they paled in comparison…to a danish filled with cheese.

Another highlight of our day…as our trip to Seattle comes to an end
was having lunch with Alison…a dear old high school friend.

One of the things I love about visiting an old friend…
is the smile that stirs within your heart
when you realize how a friendship can endure
no matter how long you’ve been apart.

The time it took to eat our lunch….
like all time, unfortunately, flew by in a breeze….
but lunch with an old friend brought even more joy
than a danish filled with cheese.

Which brings me to what I love about these last 3 days in Washington:
After all we’ve seen and done…I know
from now on we’ll be taking a little bit of Seattle with us…
wherever we may go.

A danish mermaid

The Danish Mermaid

The famous mermaid of Denmark we know well
a grey figure, the color of seals with breasts
That was not seen as a threat to anyone's sensibility
I have described the old mermaid, I didn't know
There was a new one, whose large, sexy **** had
caused uproar among the female population in
the democratic kingdom of Denmark
The spokesperson for women claims that women
do not look that voluptuous and want the statue
removed from public display, shielded from eyes
of lust of men who know what, 22 years old
looks like in  hushed evening light
The women of power who run the charming land
have prudish tendencies and will not upset their
sisters showing what a young woman looks like
sexy and full of life

This that and the other
Essential to ones success
the delivery of performance
the means to an end
the beginning of the process
Prompting an applied behavior
to encourage the desired success
In a professional relationship
No professional stumbling
No conflicting interest
Practical evaluation
Let our collaborations begin
In decisive measurements
the sound moves to inspire
It's from desire
the desire to be best
Your way is my way
We collaborate to produce
We produce in inspiration
Ode to it's success
Ode to us together
Ode to our endeavors
It's all about us
Can't are you and me
Ode to great musicians
Who get the groove
and grind
Harmony and calculations
Styles of every kind
We get it together
When it comes together
and the song impresses
We can do this one
We got our thing together
