Kim Rodrigues Poet Free verse

Sweet Danish

the cup, a sip away,
just out of reach,
as i taste
all your poetry —
like sweet danish
to my caffeinated morning.

the cup, just out of reach,
but i’m too excited to read
the lovely confections
in front of me.

my hand longs to grab
the mug’s handle,
but like a cloud
i drift.

finally, i take a sip —
lukewarm at best,
but
friends
you
are 
worth it!
