Contrasting Moments

Life is a but a blur,
Compared to eternity:
Infinite laughter.

Premium Member Contrasting Moods - Fiction

Surrounded by four walls.
I feel disgust and despair.
Why can’t I snap out of it?
For listen: The city hums with listless life.
Hospitals thrive with dying patients,
oft with self inflicted excruciating pains,
more often meted out by egoistic humans
in pursuit of hedonistic pleasures,
of self satisfying needs.

In a quiet moment at the end of the day
sometimes I pray. Alas my heart
is enveloped in inky darkness.
Instead I hear the cries of domestic violence,
of children desecrated,
women raped,
men killed by other men.

I flee my loathsome house,
merge with mindless humanity,
in streets displaying their dirty linen,
intransigent in their cacophony
of indomitable bellowing ululations,
until I reach the quieter periphery
of the endless town.

The night is ebbing. The first rays
of the rising sun touch a silvery dome
reflecting its rays straight into my eyes.
Instinctively I shade my face
yet the light persists. Is it a sign?
Could there be hope for me?
Perhaps there's sense in creation.
So I close my eyes and pray.

Premium Member Contrasting Lights

I leisurely strolled down our main road,
As the severely hot sun descended
Behind the purple hills and our night
Began to cover all our crowded streets.

Colorful lights flickered every where,
An enticement to lure us to our shops.
Restaurants emitted all types of food,
Chinese, Indian, Italian and others.

But I had another type of sensational hunger,
For at the end of the main noisy street
Darkness reigned all around the fields.
And under the old oak tree was our bench.

There she sat waiting patiently and expectantly.
I smiled at her and sat down besides her,
Giving a warm cuddle as was our habit,
Followed by the most tender of kiss.

From afar the night was decorated with million stars,
Twinkling beautifully, a sight to admire.
A shooting star traversed the luminous sky.
It was a sight for us to admire the beauty
That made our hearts beat faster in ethereal bliss.

Premium Member A Dream World

Are we living in a dream world
Contrasting the real world
When we're small
We started dreaming
A dream world appeared suddenly
In front of the real world
Are we still living there
No,we aren't
Now even frustrations and mishaps we face
Still
We're full of hopes and expectations
We face,we fight,we wish and we pray

Premium Member Contrasting Elements

Sensitive souls meet feisty spirits
Fluffiness of fresh fallen snow
Heat of harsh fiery flames

Natural elements of colliding forces
Possibilities of complementaries
Actualisation of a pair too dire

Contrasts complimenting one assumes
Reality melts the other
Hot fire against chilled snow

Disaster overwhelms surrounding viewers
Liquified tears drown fiery words
A hot puddle is this mess

Premium Member Contrasting Ways

the eagles fight in bright blue sky
tail feathers fly
one eagle falls
the other calls

a warrior not the peaceful dove
symbol of love
he would rather
show white feather

the eagles bask in ardent praise
for fighting ways
this should not be
the skies are free

Contrasting Moods

When I awoke this morning
The world had a different feel.
Yesterday was brightness and sunshine,
Today is bereft of that magic appeal.
Everything has a grey quality;
The sky is no longer blue
The world it seems is in mourning for summer
That has taken my heart along with it too.
Tomorrow it still may be cloudy,
Yet my world feel light and free
If summer returns to my heart once more
Bringing back joy and gladness to me.

Premium Member Black and White

Black and white
Two bright contrasting colours
Distinguishing
The rights and the wrongs
The principles and rules
Are too sacred to be outcast
Law breakers tend to
Ignore it, discard it and overule it
But not in front of humanity
But not in front of democracy
But not in front of the truths
But not in front of the law
But not in front of the Almighty God
Scandals ever commited are humiliating
The sanity of black and white
And so the offender's name
Is to be smeared
And out of the people's votes

What Contrasting Views

Oh, you precious one,
do you know who you're called to be ?
As God looks at you
do you know who it is He sees ?

You have seen yourself
as never quite being enough.
But God sees such wealth,
like a diamond shaped from the rough.

Oh, don't be cast down,
God believes for you better things.
In Him worth is found,
lasting worth as Life in Him brings.

You have seen yourself
as not being loved of others.
But God surrounds you
with mothers,sisters and brothers.

What contrasting views,
the way that you both look at you.
Oh, you priceless one,
the old is gone and you're made new.

SUCCUBUS

kiss my neck,
bite it through.
watch it bleed my love for you.
suck it up,
lick it clean;
i watch from above,
deeply in dream.
and then i think,
and now i scream!!!!!!

(woke up(thank God!))

THE LOVERS

kiss my neck,
i love it when you do.
i long to share, my love with you;
my passion filling you, like a buttercup.
our affections, so erotic, yet sweet and shiny clean.
heaven smiles down on love;
entertwined like water, and the stream.
passions ardour, we share this heady drink;
if love is milk, then this moment is the cream.

(fell asleep(thank you, God.))

Premium Member Contrasting Exits

In 2018 there were four who exited life's door never to return. There was an additional one whom I feared might also depart, but he recovered from his sickness and now continues his mission. My acquaintance with each of them was for many years a God-send. Each of them entered this world and walked upon the stage of life.

We enter this world one by one and at once our stories begin to unfold and later to be told. There's much to be told between the dashes, but here I speak of exits only and how they contrast. In years past I paid meager attention to little things that in the grand scheme of life are not small. I see and observe more now, feel more deeply what surrounds me, especially when they take their exits. I apologize if it appears small to you, but to me it is huge.

It's the exits of four men in 2018 of which I speak. Men of my acquaintance and friendship who completed their mission. It is not their demise that arrests me, but I am somewhat captured by their contrasting exits. I was privileged to sit and talk with one and pray with him in his dying days. We spoke of some pleasantries we shared together, and I was pleased with being allowed to say goodbye. With another who did not linger, I rushed to his bedside some three days before his demise. He observed me with a stare, unable to respond as I stroked his hands and head. My third friend was a public figure and received a public celebration before his final exit. At the end of the service, I kissed the top of his head saying, "Goodbye, I love you."

The sun, having received its commission, rises in the east and proceeds with its daily mission of providing light and energy. It then sets in the west often with the most awesome glow, beautifying the horizon. But sometimes, the sun exits or sets contrastingly with a rainbow or even cloud cover, like the exit of my fourth and final friend whose passing was sudden and more arresting than the others. Less than 60, much younger than the others, he departed without a word. However, several days before his departure, I was privileged to spend a few telling moments with him. Contrasting exits. Yours and mine; Only God knows how it will end. But because of Christ, it can be good.

Contrasting Worlds

“I dream of teaching more students while I continue exploring world throughout my life”, I answered.

"...and what's yours?", i curiously asked.

With dismayed eyes, assimilating all hope from the west, “I dream of not dying before time”, she whispered,

Skeptic juvenile eyes turning bright and optimistic with the flow of evening prayer.
(Allah reassures!)

Contrasting Law

Doomed free in the street,
     citizen, exemplary...
    under house arrest...!

Comparing and Contrasting

Death is not what you realize
lt is lighter than a leaf...
As long as life can be
heavier than a mountain...
