There’s a beguiling danger in beauty…

seduced as I was by the fickle fingers of fate musingly stroking my hair,
I envisaged
this lusciously lavish landscape
of sun-raptured heavenly hills and valid valleys
to be a lush, plush place for me to land ~

alas, such deception my naive perception did offer.

Buried beneath the facade of a fertile dream-come-true
and a mesmerizing mirage of natural light and zephyrus breaths -
where your thoughts hugged the horizons of my mind
like clouds on the edges of prairie dog skies
and where your stampeding passions trampled my inhibitions -

were delicate bandeaux of ice;

finespun and feathery like polar gossamer
that formed on the stems of your ruptured dreams
that then became my nightmare
when you had your hard freeze
while warm sap still flowed through your veins,
pumped and pushing through your broken being
and freezing on contact with the chilled clime
cocooning me, in a sudden silken surge of your glazing gauze
holding me, in the vivid wild magic of your frosted crystallized clutches -
fossilizing me, in icy opalescent ribbons of ornate whorls.

Unable to escape the grasping glacial petals of your exquisite pain,
your frost flowers plunged me into the frigid heart
of your bitter bluestem’s prairie winter...

There’s a beguiling beauty in danger
hypnotized and hijacked
as I was by the rhythmic sways of your tall grass ways -
your flickering tongue tasting my air
as my emotions were extorted
till I was bled white -
obviously oblivious

that I was being preyed upon
by a stealthy force of nature motivated by indigenous instincts.

Premium Member Oh Lord, I Praise October Days

The bogs’ their fruit – the woodlands’ leaf
embrace a ripened red motif,
as cranberries and maples blaze
Oh Lord, I praise October days.

Where starling murmurations dance
a breathless susurration trance,
ballet in blackbird-shape-shift haze
Oh Lord, I praise October days.

And neath the cumulus, the breeze
colludes with stalks in raspy tease,
unfazed we ramble maize-field maze
Oh Lord, I praise October days.

As apple-cider-sunset spills
behind the bluish granite hills,
I’m grateful for my eyes to gaze
Oh Lord, I praise October days.

When rain does bead on pumpkin’s skin
his smiling face still lit within,
I pray myself be filled Your rays
Oh Lord, I praise October days.

love,
gently rustles silver leaves
gliding through open windows
a golden summers evening
               love,
like a cardinal's rubied wing
warming the brutish bluish soul
of winter's icy cheek
                            love,
like a spray of ocean blossoms
bursting from a magicians sleeve
into caverns of lonely hearts
rooting oh so very deeply
                                    love,
like a siren sweetly offering
a sextant for the wayward bow,
just before it strikes the reef
and leaves in a flaming howl
                                          love.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

The Color of Poetry

As the ink touches my writing pad every letter seems to glow.
I feel I'm going mad watching sentences light so bright like a rainbow!
Each word seems to hypnotize and my mind begins to travel.
I watch through brown eyes as the poem begins to unravel!

Nouns and adjectives make up each dazzlingword.
The exclamation at the end of certain sentences compliment my verbs!
Yellow, red, and blue hues reflect my mood.
Each paragraph shows a little bit more attitude!

I wonder how so many colors can come together and still coexist?
The stanza's flutter light as a feather never tiring my wrist.
My rainbow of letters in my sentence3s never cease to amaze me.
A canvas of art within my heart is the color of poetry!!!

Darkness fell across my writing pad, putting my stanza's in gloom.
I just knew I would go mad as I looked around the pitch dark room.
In the darkness I felt the push of my pen, and went with the flow.
A premonition again, and looked down to see each letter begin to glow!
Even the punctuation seemed to have a bluish hue, that illuminated my eyes.
I had a huge sense of deja-vu and the color of poetry I begin to recognize!

Each letter stood out all alone, and brighter they seem to grow.
Sentences like different colors of gemstones looked like a horizontal rainbow!
My pen begin to dance, having an aura of a brilliant white.
The stanza's begin to tell of a romance that would soon under the moon ignite!
I couldn't believe it had to do with me, and my head started to spin.
A love I wanted to achieve begin with the color of poetry all over again!!

Premium Member Man of My Dreams

Does he know he lives forever in my dreams?
In every vision I create…I see his eyes of bluish green
Does he know he walks along my shore of Evermore?
On a path that leads him to my castle door
Where he stands…and drops his heart into my open hands,
Oh God…how I love this…extraordinary man

    - Nature's treasures -
are worth more than money and gold in your pocket -
                                                                quote by poet

A light breeze, soft as a little cat's paw
In the moonlight on the beach, quiet and calm
a bluish light with hints of silver on the horizon
The stars above, I’m lost in the beauty
Waves touch the feet, erase the footprints

A secluded gem, a sight to explore
    Of the thousands, wonderful treasures
A secret paradise, so unique and peaceful
Safely hidden between grain of sand
Quartz stones that glitter in the moonlight

Love to turn them over and over in my hands
Provides a soothing and softening effect upon touch

Premium Member A Skim-Milk Sky

Like a damp bath towel,
a wet mist wraps itself around my shoulders
and my spine shudders at its touch.

A skim-milk sky retains a bluish tinge
as a yellow sun swims behind a reef of clouds
absorbing its light like a thirsty sponge.

And I see my world through a gray lens
that distorts my vision;
like I'm wearing the wrong prescription glasses.
There is no color other than shades of gray;
it's as if Autumn's heart were pierced,
and it all bled away.

Green- the Colour of Spring

Green is made up of blue and yellow
Renowned colour of spring you see
The sun and sky help things to grow
Brings out the blue/green in the sea

Grasses grow and wave in the sun
Some of a bluish tint it's true
Yet still long enough for children to have fun
With old games they think are new

Green are the eyes of a beauty
Whose glance can knock you off your feet
Plus dimpled smile that says hello
Making your day feel so complete

Spring the word is musical
Listen the birds are yearning to sing
The pleasure it gives everybody
Enough to imagine wedding bells ring

Brides love to wed in the springtime
The days are longer sun will shine
The rays show through the stained glass windows
Shining on the couple as they pledge to be thine

She knows when the lights are turned off
there will be light somewhere else
Understanding of connections between life and death
The rains will come and the seeds will germinate
     by the green youth trees

The attraction is there, but also the fear
her world is falling apart as a house of cards
     through the soul's dark night
     A transcendent and celestial experience
the arrival of the journey via divine powers

The frequency, sound and volume adjusted frequently
She testing the woven fibers with burning longing
against a background of nothing but bluish air
The soul longed for so much, a renewal

Listen to the sound of trickling streams
before they merge into the endless sea
A reconciling and humble journey has ended

Premium Member Wounded Sigh

In sepia foliage's of falsified fantasies,
cursed by haunting hornets stinging
with honeyed painted lies,
her mind was like a matriarch of metaphors.

An inflorescent seed buried in darkness,
with a somnolent spirit rustling in onyx nostalgia.
Too afraid to spread her fragile feathers,
she lay upon a bed of black rose petals,
veiled underneath dark raven phases,
hidden behind the silence of lunar secrets,

Her soul slept like grieving ghosts of galactic graves,
repeatedly releasing wounded sighs.

Not all florets flourish
with the mercy of rainwater,
only nourishing hands can create
an aesthetic pastel carnival of confetti,
like lilac lavender snowflakes of smoky love.
Some spicy spirits are like
the marigold locket of liquid,
glowing like turmeric hues
in tamarind tinted skies of oblivion,
clearing diaphanous dewdrops
of a grainy hourglass,
spreading vintage violet wishes
in bluish epiphany skies,
disintegrating a montage
burnt to nefarious ashes,
raising amaranth pink petals
of heartfelt empathy.

There is a magic in midnight reigns,
as dawn retreats, dusk births a saviour knight,
altering twilight's twinkling tunnel
of kismet stars perfumed with sins.
Moonlight spreads a subtle silk scent
when fears fall like cosmic dust,
soothing a scarred moon soul and stars in slumber.

Not all flowers need a gardener to grow,
but all seedsmen sow to bloom an ivory aurora,
through the obscurity of ebony eyes.

Sometimes, its the simple touch of fingertips,
that lays the perfect foundations,
for a sunflower to embellish in gold.

Between frosty cobalt-cliffs, cruise-ship hesitates to pause,
Amidst ice sculptures echoing cheers of spirited applause,
Mesmerizing enthralled sights evincing awe-struck trance,
Lauding vast gelid expanse, hypnotizing eyes of romance.

Buoying on inlets, flaunting aesthetics of sculpted designs,
Dark blue glaciers rise for miles, as our ship gently aligns,
Watching seals resting lazily, ruminating on blocks of ice,
Empathetic of frightened sparrow decrying the crowd-size.

Gracefully ship circles around, as if staging a festive dance,
When in enamored glance, caressing hints of romance,
We praise motifs on water~ floating white cotton balls,
Where shards chromatic fall from frozen-tall bluish walls.

Miles of crystals adorning yonder, glinting cerulean blue,
Stack mounds of white contrast on distant emerald hue,
As Glacier Bay begins to fade retreating in rearward view,
When ship's whistle blows aloud, bidding a fond adieu.

A journey we treasure now in albums of cherished past,
Where moments unsurpassed, coveting-forever last,
Embracing precious memories evoking paradise on earth,
Glamorizing place-idyllic, luxuriating in cadence of mirth.

Beauty

Beauty is all around me, in a million different things.
The silvery haired, wrinkled face of one that has impenetrable memories
She smiles and longs for someone, anyone to bust her out of her prison of silence.
It is in the wispy, snowy white, silk of a milkweed as it frees itself of its casing
It arrives in the sound of a beautiful well orchestrated piece of music that penetrates my soul.
In the simplicity of a simple clump of wildflowers that grows freely in the ditch.
As my dog Quincy runs freely with his friend Sawyer
the beauty of their comradery and unbridled joy is unparalleled.
It is in the kindness of those who consider the feelings of others and gently encourage.
It emerges from the generosity at Christmas and unselfish acts all around from veritable strangers.
The lake on a late November afternoon with its shades of bluish greys
And a backdrop of thick denseness but a silvery light reflecting on the water
and peeking through to show me one more surprise before covering up with its blanket of dark.
The tedious overnight work of a spider who sits in wait
in the most radiant web with drops of dew sitting carefully on a strand.
In the spirit of one who never gives up
and remains grateful even after unmentionable hardships and grief.
In the words of the poets claiming words as their own
to create the most unique ways of speaking their truth.
In the love of a couple simply holding hands as they walk.
The joy of a child’s face as he sees his favourite grandpa has come to visit.
Of course, there are the generous sunsets
and flowers of every colour that decorate my outside world
The seagulls that stand on one leg,
The geese that fly to unknown destinations at the same time every day
The elaborate sandcastle built lovingly with a dad on the beach
The nest with chirping baby birds begging furiously to fill their emptiness
made lovingly with grasses and twigs and various treasures.
The smell of beautifully roasted coffee permeating my early morning
It is a beautifully crafted piece of art that is fresh from the soul’s expression of the artist’s brush
I have learned to see the beauty all around and build a life of gratefulness
Beauty surprises and comes in simplest form
Which helps to drown the sorrow that inevitably must come to us all.

Premium Member The Sea Shells Song

I've listened to it's calling, in awes amazement
Felt the rush of the waves between my bare feet,
Allowing the bubbles of sea form to explode,
As I spread my toes digging them deeply,
 Within the beaches warm sand.
Then at this moment of perfect splendor,
I pondered in thoughts deep contemplation,
At natures raw marvelous wonderment.
Oh how I envy the seagulls above,
Whom soar above this blue blue aquatic world,
How free they seem to dive admits the powder clouds
Of the divine, crying in joys liberation.
These master fisher birds, gleaning morsels of
Food at the surf of the waters top layered edges.
White winged creatures hanging effortlessly
Upon breezes of air, rippling over the currents
 Tidal surges.
Behold the epic beauty of the timeless sea, it brings
The sacred heavens themselves to weep, the angelic
Angels tears fall from Nervous itself, melting the sky's
Blue to blend with the waves, giving the bluish tint to
The aquatic world of elegance beneath.
Against the sheltering coves coral reef,
Within the wake of the rolling riptides crashing,
Scattered are the delicate aquatic trumpets of Poseidon.
A tender weepings sounding, is heard within
The hardened shelled cocoon of the sea shells,
As they wash upon the sandy shore.
Hush now mortal and listen to the sweet song of
The sea, softly it so plays in meiotic rhythm,
Enchanting the vision insight of clarity, to beguilement
Of tranquility.
Can you not the hear the swaying of the tropical trees,
Lightly being caressed by the breezes of the sea,
On the distant shores of enlightenment.
At twilight's golden hour of sunset, the lord spreads
Wide his miraculous canvas, to display his master
Work of divinity.
A brilliance shimmering in light of the divine,
Held encapsulated within the sea shells song.

I met a Hippie walking down the street.
She had long hair, big eyes.
Wide-bottomed trousers, orange-red,
Covered in an intricate pattern
Of strange designs, flapped round her feet
And from her shoulders over a flowered blouse
Hung a black satin something
With bright green frills on the edges.
From her neck dangled to her breast an emblem
In a circle – a unity of Love and Peace.
I passed by her and she glanced up.
I smiled...she smiled...and we moved on.
A smile can work wonders.

The couch and chairs were empty
And we sat comfortably on the carpet.
The candle threw an eerie light
Which came to nought in the depths
Of the room’s shadowy corners.
An odour of incense drifted around us
And a distorted candle flame
Was reflected in my cup of coffee.

We spoke of art, painting and poetry
Treading on the romantic,
Passing through hazes of religion:
A mixture of love, knowledge and mystery,
Probing into the eluding outlets of LSD,
The restful release of meditation,
The yearning of youth, disillusions of life,
The roots of joy and depression,
The understanding of oneself.

Smoke rose in bluish transparency.
The ring on her finger was big and it glimmered;
She opened a poetry book at random
And began reading from Tagore.
I was silent. Her voice was soft.
And when she stopped we said not a word.
There was no need – we both understood.
