Best Betrayed Poems
I flew to Olympus, to find its heart,
armour intact against Hades’ dark wrath.
At birth the power of light made its start
as Homer's ghost sent me upon my path!
Yet there I found only an empty throne
where once Zeus in glory firmly reigned.
So sad! For no lighted wisdom was shown,
such that grievous and blue, my heart was pained!
Thunder and lightning I didn’t yearn to find,
nor divine favours for eternal youth.
I wanted reassurance, peace of mind,
justice for all and no distorted truth.
At the foot of Olympus I sought love
but no compassion came down from above.

Robert Lindley & Paul Callus ~ 21st November 2015
Chosen Poem Of The Day, 3rd December, 2015
Once significant and alluring, your luster faded.
Perhaps it was the treachery in hollow eyes jaded.
Was there ever a light
in a soul dark as night?
Promises of love only heralded grief;
faith I once had turned to disbelief.
She was younger, pretty, but above all newer.
Agony in my heart came from betrayal’s skewer.
How could I blame her when I knew that soon
your allegiance would change like the inconstant moon?
She would then feel the fickle pitchfork of pain -
those knots in her stomach twisted by emotions feigned.
Only now can I see you for what you are.
Anger settled; no longer do we spar.
Bitterness made way for resignation again.
Maybe I shall once more learn to trust men.
Then I can guide your latest castaway
and ease the surging sting of her dismay.
Your fate rests on a tremulous shore
where, as looks fade, you can offer nothing more.

I’m living in anticipation
With other cigarettes who are also growing impatient
We’re waiting
Praying
To be the next chosen one
Now, the door opens and we’re soaked by the light of the sun
Screams of “PICK ME!, PICK ME!”
She plucks me from the bunch; I’ve never felt so free
Straight from the prison she sticks my butt in her mouth, which is odd
Now, she puts a flame in my face and sets me on fire, OH MY GOD!
But hold the phone, this feels great
I wish I could tell the fellas back in the pack their fate
She takes me out of her mouth and holds me with two fingers
She blows my smoke in the air where, for a couple seconds, it lingers
She taps my back, a feeling so good it might be a sin
Some embers of mine fall to the ground and disappear with the wind
After 5 minutes of pure bliss
She once again pulls my butt off her lips
Smoke, as usual, flows into the daylight
I’m waiting for the taps and for the embers to take flight
But instead, she suddenly flicks me away without a sound
I fly through the air, drop, and crash on the ground
No big deal, It was certainly an accident
At least I’m still lit
Then as I look up I see the sole of her shoe driving down
All I can do is stare and frown
She crushes me on the asphalt
Then smears me around; sprinkling the wound with salt
I disintegrate to ash
How could she just treat me like trash?
I thought that feeling would last forever
But I guess you decided, for no evident reason, it was time to sever
I’ve been betrayed
Alone I wither and decay.

Note: It was a true pleasure collaborating with my friend
Paul Callus on this poem. His poetic advice and addition
both were top notch. And appreciated greatly was the
opportunity to learn from him.
You have my sincere thanks, my very talented poetic friend.
With loving heart and caring hands
I soothe your pain, I bathe your wounds
An ill wind blew and sapped your strength
There was not much that you could do.
Corruption, greed, no rule of law,
Unfair the treatment handed out.
Betrayed by those you trusted most
Who sold their soul for worldly gains
And dared to stab you in the back.
Do not give up; you’re not alone,
Delay of justice will not last.
Till then I’ll prop you, wipe your tears
With loving heart and caring hands.

He knew his love betrayed him before he walked into the door
Her nervous behavior indicated that she still loved him
Or so he hoped.
He dipped a finger in her glass and moistened her lips
Before gently pressing his against her quivering mouth
Her moan was enough
He knew
This was the moment
When it would all be revealed
The longing….
The passion….
He knew….
He had to see a doctor about his problem
That made him reach the climax of mount Everest before the act of love….
originally Writen by Wilma Neels
You know how you get a feeling
When someone is lying to you.
But you keep making up excuses
Telling yourself its not true.
You convince yourself nothing happened,
No matter what you may feel;
Just close your eyes and pretend
There was nothing to conceal.
But in your heart you know
That you have been betrayed;
That nothing that he told you
Was as simple as it was portrayed
You keep beating yourself up
With an ugly mental assault;
Lost and wondering why,
Convinced it was your fault
Trying to figure out
Just what was incomplete,
To make him turn away
To make him want to cheat.
injustices larger than life
rage still trembling
through her weary body
still in total disbelief
the assault on her core
her life her soul
her mind shattered in disillusion
imploding her whole belief system
betrayed
feeling ever so vulnerable
marooned
disillusioned
deeply hurt
brutally attacked
with blows
directly to the heart

How much do they know
Who are the blabbers
Who are the rat finks
It is my sister
Could bro be that low?
Is a rumor
A blatant lie
Fabrication
I start to yell
People laugh
Relatives
At outburst
Sheepish
I look
Downward
Sad
You were my sister in Christ
In all that I do
You have betrayed me
Now, who do I turn to?
We hung out everyday, every night
We were best friends
Not knowing because of you
Our friendship would soon end
Over the years I couldn’t understand why you changed
Starting saying rude things and telling lies
I remember the biggest one of all
You called me crying, saying your one true love just died
I believed you
Because I thought we had trust
But when I found out you lied
I was so mad I wanted to fuss
I called you and…
You continued to lie
Getting sick of you I hung up
Without even saying goodbye!
Not very good, I know but what ever.
"Betrayed by Love's Lie"
in quiet solitude reflection stirs
as soiled thoughts invade inner core of mind
a gentle heart, swallowed in grave, inters
beyond the golden twilight, peace to find.
promises vowed sway broken at dark seams
betrayed by lovely lies spoken sincere
a trusting naive soul lost lovers' dreams
extinguished passion flaunting hurtful leer.
tears tumbled as deceitful romance lied
swore to emotion's eyes were free to wed
a dagger thrust impaled life as flame died
spoiling sweet taste of destroyed marriage bed.
bitter essence lingers to haunt, to pry,
a callous charmer who betrayed with lie.

I'm hated, frustrated, and mostly agitated
I'm feeling fated, unrelated, undated, and overrated
(Favoritism, a person's alcoholism)
I'm an anarchist
And I think I'm a masochist
Maybe YOU should perform an exorcist?
I wanna hit you with my fist
You're a never ending twist
I'm your belated friend
You make my life want to end
You make the rules bend
Your lies extend
This is why I'm no longer your friend
You lied straight to my face
Like being sprayed by mace
Stabbed me in the back
Made me have a panic attack
Now I'm gonna get you back
You stupid hack
You need to stop your act!
When it's my time to go
Could you hold me till I'm gone
When it's my time to go
Could you forget what I've done wrong
When it's my time to go
And my eyes forever close
Don't you cry for me
I don't need the sympathy
But when the time is here
And I'm down to my last breath
I'll have a few more words
Let me get this off my chest
Please just leave me
Now leave me all alone
You couldn't help when I struggled
Or even when I had no home
I Don't need your Love right now
When it's my time to go
Now you decide to shed some tears
But my eyes have already closed.
I spend each wakeful night in search of evasive sleep.
An unwelcomed vigil denies me peaceful rest.
I've need to bury his haunting specter somewhere deep;
entombing forever my perpetual uninvited guest.
Close my weary eyes, appears the vision of his face.
His smile plays over me in sweet unbridled song.
If I could rip out my eyes as easily as tattering lace,
Would insomnolence not taunt me all night long?
How long must I remain my heart's shackled possession?
Will this nocturnal torment never reach an end?
No response have I heard to either of these questions.
My heart is not content to simply call him, "friend."
I've foolishly assigned myself a Herculean task,
To believe from its grasp, my heart will set me free.
I'm paying the steepest price that love alone can ask.
Why, treacherous heart, why have you betrayed me?
The thought of all trusts,
Was it all just rust?
The thought of all confidence,
Was it because of your insolence?
The thought of all friendship,
Was it all just dissonance?
Was it all just lies?
The thought of all immanence,
There was no innocence,
Was it all just imminent trust?
Was it all your fickleness?
Was it your falseness?
Was it enough faith for equivalence?
There was fading ambivalence...
Was I blinded by wistfulness?
Was i blinded by your words?
Was it your defiance?
Was it all about rebelliousness?
Are we going to be strayed?
Were we going to divagate?
Was I being a black swan?
Did you want to disarray?
Did I need to back away or just run away?
I was being manipulated over again...
Kindness is hard to give now...
Did you want to lead astray?
Are you really a friend?
Did you want to push me away?
Did you want to cut me away?
Did you want to break me away?
Weren't we going all the way?
You are going too far away...
You were just looking away...
With my tears shedding,
Will you just turn away?
Might I just fall down?
Must the world just fade away?
Was it all just waste?
Was it all already traced?
Was it all degrading?
Are you corrupted?
Am i devalued?
My unshakeable perception and unbrakeable soul,
Were they deceived?
All I need now is a shoulder,
Where my tears can be shed and impregnated.
A hug,
Where my bones brake of forgotten joyfulness.
A trust,
Where my biggest secrets will be kept.
A hand,
That can keep helping inconditionally.
Eyes,
That could see me for who I am.
A heart,
Where infinite solid bonds could be created.
And a soul,
Where my soul could be free and unbrakeable...
All because of your hypocrat double play,
I was betrayed...
