A Little Moon For Benjamin

A little moon for Benjamin
For Benjamin the moon
Which casts itself upon his face
Tonight when it is full
In a magic transformation
That illuminates, in depth
A purer form of innocence
A finer state of grace
And wisdom’s inspiration
That poets can embrace

For here the gaze of wonder!
For here the look of awe!
For here the eyes enraptured
By what they see afar

And uttering but these few words
In a simple, boundless phrase
“The moon, the moon”, in rapt exclaim
Is all he needs to say –

For nothing brighter shines tonight
Than the moon that shines beyond
Except the eyes of Benjamin
For whom the moon belongs –

Benjamin Franklin was known for many a-things
Longing for reality to spring from his dreams
On a wild stormy night made a discovery
A dastardly magic called electricity!

However I would bet highly you didn't know
Of Benji's hauntingly beautiful crystal show
Victorian lasses died and went to heaven
The glass armonica swooned even his brethren

Benjamin Franklin was certainly a legend
To live without his gifts is hard to imagine
I see him now and then if I'm super lucky
His noble face glued to artificial money

Premium Member Like Benjamin Button

I wish I could be
like Benjamin Button
Me oh my
wouldn’t that be sumthin
My hair would grow thicker
no longer thin and grey
From winter’s cold December
I’d progress back to May

Stronger much faster
my body restored
No nursing home for me
I would never be bored.
Enjoying my retirement
again but in reverse
The best part of it all
no need for a hearse.

Then back to work life
at the peak of my career
Cash for me to spend
on those who are dear
Life would be much better
my thoughts growing clearer
My looks would start improving
as I looked in the mirror

In a matter of years
I’d be back in school
University days sweet
a time to be cool
Savouring each moment
stopping to smell each flower
Romance back to innocence
reclaiming youthful power

Then becoming a child
delightful and free
No more big worries
or responsibility
I’d go from toddler wobbles
to a baby so sweet
Giggles and tickles
mom rubbing my feet

My earthly needs met
cuddly comfort and love
Affectionate eyes so adoring
looking down from above
If like Benjamin Button
my life was lived reversed
Would I have lived it better
being it was formerly rehearsed?

Inspired by the movie Benjamin Button staring Brad Pitt.

Premium Member An Ode To Benjamin Franklin

I wished to improve on my character so,
I looked for a model to go by.
I studied the habits of men great and tall,
For one who seemed perfect in my eyes.

Men of fine profile and manly physique,
Were the first ones to cross my inspection.
First also dismissed for their physical charms,
Seemed all they had worth admiration;

And those who had money and power were wont,
To flaunt their importance and style.
An hour or two in this comp'ny could last,
A person a long, long while;

And so I explored yet another route,
The highway to high education.
Perhaps here I would find the virtuous man.
One worthy of my adulation.

I read through the tomes of scholars and scribes,
Philosophers, poets and statesmen,
And I never found a doctrine more sound,
Than the one left behind by Ben Franklin.

Benjamin Franklin
1706 - 1790

A statesman and scientist he was also quite a philosopher.
He was considered to be one of the most important figures of his day having been given
the dubious honor of being asked to sign the Declaration of Independence along with many other great men of that era; making him one of our Founding Fathers.
In doing so he showed great courage because all who signed had a price placed on their
heads by the Crown of England for treason.
He spent his life in search of knowledge continuously trying to improve himself.
He had the ability to see and recognize his own faults and tried to do something about them. That is something not many people can do. It's also the reason he had few if any real enemies.
A person could do a whole lot worse than to try to imitate his style.

The Internal Dying of Benjamin Tippett

No Maria -
when a Bernstein motif lingers.
No rosary beads -
they'll simply slip
through bourbon-stained fingers.
God carved the seven continents,
with skillful guise,
and Puccini cries.
Adam's rib was imminent
when his chest burst splinters
into a scorned dodger's eyes.
No Turandot tonight, please -
Father willed him this disease;
a cancerous curse
Ben's learned to despise.

No Rodgers -
when Oscar Hammerstein is dead.
No hammered halos -
they'll merely desecrate
the madman’s head.
Ben abandoned rued religion,
with toxic breath -
as Mimi wept.
Noah made a revision,
as the pairs filed two by two,
and into his mouth they crept.
No La Boheme, does he dote -
Mother’s cocktail glass
cuts his throat.
A souvenir,
from his childhood,
he’s kept.

No Sondheim -
when one loathes another's company.
No steel wool ragcloths -
to dry the bloodshot eyes of thee.
He minded the duet’s jargon
endorsing the macabre,
and Calaf sobbed.
Judas rethought the bargain,
knowing the silver pieces
wouldn’t save the soul he robbed.
A lost weekend sates Ben's day -
two severed hands on his chest,
he’ll lay; never feeling
a heart
that once throbbed.

Benjamin Blue

BENJAMIN BLUE

Benjamin Blue lost his shoe.
He called to his mother, “What should I do?”

His mother said, “Look under your bed”
But as he did, he bumped his head!

His father said, “Look under your chair”
But all he found was dust and hair.

His brother said “Look in your room, behind your door “
But dirty socks just covered his floor.

Benjamin Blue sobbed for his shoe.
“I will never find it, what will I do?”

His sister in the garden sat with her cat, then smelled something gross
screaming, "YUC, WHAT IS THAT?”
(She was known to be rude and kind of a brat)

"Benjamin" she hollered, "I found your shoe”
He knew she was right, when she shouted, "PEE U!"

One of my grandsons, name of Benjamin
He likes eating toast made with cinnamon
But uses his wits
To not eat his grits
Then excuses himself like a gentleman

You were much more than a man with a kite and a key.
By being a founding father of a new country,
your signature can be seen on some great documents.
Helping with the Declaration of independence,
in our history, you made an auspicious presence.
Your many accomplishments can be considered great.
You were seen on half-dollars from nineteen forty-eight
until fifteen years later in nineteen sixty-three
when they bumped you off in favor of John Kennedy.
However, your prominent image we can see still,
on the Federal Reserve’s one hundred dollar bill.

The Benjamin Button Effect

All my contemporaries care greatly about such things as self gain, and securing a spot in
heaven; while I could care less about those sort of things.

"Fart Proudly!" Benjamin Franklin Once Wrote
A troublesome guest is best not to tote
For happy intestines
It was Ben's suggestion
A good fart is worthy of a good gloat!

Could it be that we're farting obsessed?
Each aspect of farting addressed
From loud and heady
To silent but deadly
All preferences being confessed

They say one should die for their art
But it's others who suffer the fart
I think that it's time
To pursue a new line
Stop the horse and empty the cart

A horse is a horse me thinks 'tis true
Of course it's the back end that stinks of poo
While wielding shovel and pail
I did not watch the tail
He let loose and blew and up I threw!

Beautiful Benjamin

Beautiful Benjamin

And what happens after we die?
My hope, we need acceptance into the spirit realm.
The love we have in our soul and the love we receive
from the spirits will allow us to travel and discover
all the answers to our questions.
I'm not sure this is going to be a massive
power rush or a weak spirit fade.
I don't see it as heaven or hell but
the evil some people are guilty of
will diminish thier soul to the point of outcast.
The outcast has a different journey.
One rich in love will have a pleasant journey.
Why do people crave love so much?
We feel crushed and broken without it.
Love in the heart builds love in the soul brings
love to the spirit and holistic self.
A sence of worth and pride bring value
to everyone you meet.
Character and caring will be you presence
in here and now.
What do you think?
I think that's beautiful.
