I've deleted this acrostic from the competition for personal reasons.
        SORRY, J. D.

G lorious was the morning I climbed the Scottish highland
R adiant warmth of Summer's sun shimmered over the trail
E mblazoned with clover, near a forested Wych Elm stand
A stonished at the scenic vista, my lofty imagination set sail
T raipsing across the North Sea, I was Captain in command

E lusive was the tailwind on my adventurous nautical escape
S cotland clamored for my return, 'Make haste. Hurry home!
C ast your notions upon the wind. Your spinnaker, undrape
A nother day will you play, when in illusory flight you roam
P erchance invite another dreamer and don your Tartan cape
E mbark upon a getaway beyond the heathered hills of loam'

Premium Member Letting Go

Last goodbye son it’s time for you to go
Every emotion was there on show
Trying to put on a brave face
Tears were falling; it’s no disgrace
It was time for you to fly the nest
Now time for you to show your best
Going away to study in the UK

God speed to send you safely on your way
Over the seas so so far away

It seems like five minutes since you were born
Now its time for you to spread your own wings
I waved you off on that September morn
I’m so proud of you son that my heart sings

You’re leaving the nest
Time to cut the apron strings
Fly high my darling

Premium Member Wander-Full

Wide, this grand world, with occurrences, rife

On the foam-capped blue, for a seafarer's life

Rich, the adventurer's sojourns shall be ...

Launching deep dreams on a mutable sea.

Daring, the soul who can take to the sky

Cast off the weights of this marble and fly

Rending mundane for the magic of travel

Undreamt-of mysteries await to unravel.

In sky or on rail, on surface or sea ...

Savor the journey and all it should be

Enjoy, as scores don't, the gift ... to be FREE!

Premium Member Winter Loving

While wisps of white come floating from the sky,
Inside our house so cozily we sit
Nearby a blazing fire, enjoying it
Throughout the twilight hours, just you and I,
Embracing silence, watching embers die.
Relentless is the snow; it will not quit!

Luxuriating in serenity,
Oblivious are we to mundane woes.
Vast as the snow, which from the heaven flows,
Is what we’ll share for an eternity.
Night Falls, but even in the dark we see,
Gloom vanishes as winter loving grows.

Premium Member Maples Crying

Many are the maples that encircle my home, my nest, my dwelling abode,
And in the dark of night they tap on my frosty windows, crying;
Past their deathly stance, a wintry scene,
Looking through their tangled limbs snow is falling, endlessly.
Everything in my world is icy white, sky and earth mingling,
Soon, I whisper to them, you will be wearing your emerald gowns;

Creaking and groaning they mumble in their frozen rest,
Reaching out gnarled fingers to me.
Yes, my dears, soon, so soon you will stand in resplendence,
Ice and snow will be replaced with fringes of delicate, filigree green;
Now rest, now sleep maples sweet,
Gather your memories of spring, summer and fall close and dream.

Premium Member Oblivion

Obsidian hearts – no longer beating -
Buried under magna and turned to stone.
Lodged in stupor – consciousness deleting -
In a state where the sun has never shone.
Vast emptiness surrounds them now like outer space.
Infinitude of blackness . . . is this hell?
Obtuseness overwhelmed them and stole their grace.
Never-ending nothingness – it serves them well.

SEPTEMBER FALLS

Sunlight dictates our days somehow
Evenings speak of duvets now
People begin to cough or sneeze
Trees start to dread each single breeze
E-type says there’s nowhere to park
Mornings complain about the dark
Blackberries doubt that they’ll get picked
English sheepdog begs for a stick
Radio talks of candidates
Fake news drowns out any debate
Autumn colours each working day
Leaves demand to be swept away
Last week’s paper knew it was true
September would remember you.

P-erfect home in heaven is free from pain and sorrow;

Premium Member Farewell To Summer - 2023

Fading blossoms drooping low in abeyance
Arouse Summer’s suspicions that now Autumn
Races forward, seeking Summer’s abdication.
Even as the birds plan their migration south,
Willful Summer scoffs as she stifles the wind,
Eventually losing to the tug of chill air.
Looking at scorched ground, Summer abandons
Last requests to the barren clouds for quenching rains.

Trudging toward tomorrow, Summer remembers she was
Once a grand empress, and vows she shall be again!

She sheds her ragged regal robes and crown;
Uneasy in weight of peasant’s coarse tunic.
Maybe next year when the Sun again comes ‘round,
Maybe next year when Summer defends, just then,
Essence of life will calm and steady her realm.
Restoring hope for her next auspicious reign.

I Cry Everyday

I CRY EVERYDAY

Why would I cry every day?
What do I do to stop this weeping?
It is my marriage that brings those tears
Tears of no joy...I mean gnashing of teeth
Yet still on earth with no intent to visit hellfire

My tears are of an abused lady enslaved
Trapped in a contraption called wedding
I now know why my other friends wants to be free
Free from the mundane atrocities of a marriage
Free from the bondages that comes with wedlock

Get away from the strife and knife of the In-laws
My In-laws are bitches of high level degree
Really, they are members of the witches and wizards club
They dine with long nails in their corners
My husband as an initiated one laugh out loud

I am continually ignored as if I was dead
I wish to join their cult when I am at my In-laws'
My presence irritate them from within
Their young ones lack all sorts of manners
I am disrespected at will even with my husband's will

Space

So much obscurity with no sign of light.
Hope begs the question is there help in sight?
Past, present, and future are mangled in time.
Enters the Captain - buckle-up for flight.
Across the universe, passage bought for a dime.
A countdown begins; it’s the end of the line…
Cashing-in what is left of my mind,
Ready to reschedule this mission of mine.
Envy my trip but heed the sign:
The SPACE around his HEART is dark and sublime.
