SEPTEMBER FALLS

Sunlight dictates our days somehow
Evenings speak of duvets now
People begin to cough or sneeze
Trees start to dread each single breeze
E-type says there’s nowhere to park
Mornings complain about the dark
Blackberries doubt that they’ll get picked
English sheepdog begs for a stick
Radio talks of candidates
Fake news drowns out any debate
Autumn colours each working day
Leaves demand to be swept away
Last week’s paper knew it was true
September would remember you.

Dear Martin, you deftly captured the essence of autumn with lovely natural and pointed political imagery. Congratulations for your success in Andrea's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Martin, in your excellent acrostic, you brought out some very interesting aspects of early fall. Effective use of personification! Janice

I love the cleverness of this one, Martin. thinking outside the box. if only you had bolded the phrase on the first letters, this would have been higher on my list.

Update. I have managed to adjust my lettering now. In the future I will boldly go where other poets have gone before!

A great September Acrostic Martin, it’s a lovely time of the year, the leaves start to change colour afore the fall from the trees, in readiness of the coming winter freeze. Congratulations on receiving the honour for poem of the day… Beryl

Even though ' mornings complain about the dark, ' it's worth it to able to see the vivid colors of Autumn. And while September falls, October is very close to being in the spotlight. I'm embracing each and every moment. Congratulations Martin, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Dear Martin, A sincere Congratulations on this cleverly well crafted acrostic POTD. The mornings in the United States are also "complaining about the dark" as well these days..

I have noticed the steep drop in temperature. It is like being on a ship in a calm when all of a sudden a squall emerges. Thank you. It is a good reminder that winter is coming.
