Premium Member Another Chapter of Milton Creek

With pitchforks and torches they rode through the night,
their goal was Milton Creek, by dawns early light.
A surprise attack was what they had foreseen,
led by the infamous, lollipop queen.

With a group of ringed men, she’d deceived and collected,
they rode for the jail, for the first one she’d infected.
In shackles and chains, her best awaited his trial,
I can’t say his name, so we’ll just call him Kyle.

Old Kyle was arraigned for a snake oil ruse,
he claimed to sell medicine but was just peddling booze.
They stopped just out of town by farmer Bill’s pig pen,
where they all shared a lollipop, and a *Cornish game hen*.

Rested and fed, they all headed for town,
their plan was to free Kyle and turn his frown upside down.
There were many new graves that we helped Mayor Tom to dig,
we could smell them all coming, they were pungent like a pig.

Little did they know how Milton Creek was protected,
we watched each other’s back, and our defense was perfected.
David and Terry, were perched on the roof of the jail,
I stood right out front with my leaded cocktail.

Tania and Jan were on the top of the saloon,
Milton was keeping watch, as he played a catchy tune.
Deb was on the ground, locked and loaded,
Lin had Jenna’s Winchester and some dynamite to be exploded.

*a Cornish game hen is produced from a cross between the Cornish and white Plymouth rock chicken breeds, it is served young and immature weighing no more than two pounds*

Premium Member The Ballad of Daphne and Jack, the Sequel

Gather 'round me, my dears,
I'll continue the tale
Of a princess and her pirate lover.
Of her crown unencumbered,
They pillaged and plundered
As they wandered the seven seas over.

Crimes maritime were elating
And invigorating
'til Jack noticed a bulge in her tummy.
The princess first was offended,
But then she comprehended
He would soon be a dad, she a mommy.

Two months later, one morn,
Daphne's baby was born,
She said, "Time to rethink our position.
If we stay here, our child
Will grow wicked and wild,
We must provide better, milder conditions."

Jack's crew were confused
When he told them the news,
All they knew how to do was be pirates.
None of them had a dime,
And all too far past their prime
To go home and move in with their parents.

Jack chuckled and chided,
Their fears he derided,
And then much to their mirth and enjoyment,
He said, "We'll start a new industry
That sells hospitality
And offers year-round and seasonal employment."

Do you remember the king?
That mean, stingy old thing
Died alone in his big empty palace.
But before his reign ended,
His will was amended,
And Princess Daphne inherited alles.

She thought the place would work well
As a swanky hotel
Or a posh B&B just for pirates.
But Mad Jack and his gang
Were arraigned and then hanged,
They should have kept their retirement more private.

And thus, dear ladies and dudes,
My narration concludes
About Daphne's and Jack's days of glory.
She turned her dad's mausoleum
Into a pirate museum
And made a killing, some say,
Conducting tours every day
For visitors who'd pay
To hear a pirating princess' story.

Premium Member On His Birthday

ON HIS BIRTHDAY
from Anne Donne to her husband John – supposing she went on record..

Five senses have we, but just one soul
I take you part by part, and then the whole
Your fingertips begin at shadow’s end
And I on each a hundred kisses spend.

Your toes from which radiate your joy
Your soles, your feet, your legs I all enjoy
Your shoulders, arms, are ceaseless comfort trained
Your face, your hair, your lips are thus arraigned.

Sweet tower of enterprise, and honeyed substance found
We share our treasure where we most abound
Our secret selves are now a flame of sense
Where we explode at last in innocence.

Exploring ways to end all life’s regrets
Our joy a million, million tears forgets.

COPLA 94 INVOCATION : This Bad Guy World

Can the State be arraigned by the State
And condemn and imprison itself :
Whose is the blame

Do many Bad Guys make Bad Guy State
Or does one the other way round delve
To reveal game

Tyrannosaur states auto-absolve
Themselves for the wrongs of bad guys :
Raison d’Etat

Yet selfish acts of Bad Guys resolve
Themselves into acts of the Wise :
Au nom d’Etat

I will keep this one simple as it involves one with love
to get the full impetus this song fits like a glove
I am a lover, or prostitute/gigolo of love, but a guitar
reigns all and rises above all. Thank God for Youtube and the offerings
it promotes from a antique man that its presents promote. So much I have l
listened and so much I've lost to vinyl, tape, 8 track and more than it cost.
Whatever the measure the venue that speaks is all that I ask for and all that
bequeaths. Way past, past, pre present now forward, lends ears to all measures
that motivate pleasures to all that appreciate without no man clatures to ageless
yea man playtatures. Music is all to one and all regardless of age and for one for all.
My middle son suddenly I heard him of Frank like I did as a boy in Ohio a dank. Is there
something to astrology, heredity, DNA, that speaks to the aforementioned
in a word yes foretay. Hidden, hiding, promising, pre eminent, ever prominent
evasive, compromising maleovenent. This is where parental promotion is prime
where u forget about convention, discipline, and sublime. Letting them be,
and be and be be, without social face premises to see. My sons r the greatest
as they think arraigned, unassigned, unhinged, to favor fathom their existence
in line to their own place in the present time/place/passion position equitable
and free forth coming to a future fashion fusion frankness filled with
love, caring, forgiveness, and global nurturance for all things human. Yea,
right. It is possible if u drop yr ego and give yr other other self half a f-ing chance.
A mirror works both ways my friend.

Alas, never seen along scenic highways and byways anymore,
(Now, tacky billboards clutter roads from shore to shore!)
Are the pithy Burma-Shave signs displayed in red and white,
That provided the traveling public with so much delight!

Signs were planted by PhDs (Post Hole Diggers) fifty yards apart;
Folks memorized them by rote and recited them from the heart.
Dads became adept at suddenly shifting their cars in reverse,
Should Mom or the kids miss a line of that mesmerizing verse!

For massaging their spines, cows and horses found them handy.
Miscreants used them for targets - their usual modus operandi.
College boys "borrowed" signs to decorate their college dorms.
Others were set atilt or otherwise marred by savage thunder storms!

Six sequential signs were arraigned along a farmer's fence.
Each was carefully composed so as not to cause offense.
Shakespeare would be aghast at such appalling versification,
But never mind, for nigh on 40 years they tickled a generation!

'Tis so sad that these clever mots have vanished from the scene.
What was once an educational trip is now so boring and routine!
When rising each morn/Your stubble to mow/And your mug to lave/
You'll sigh and mourn/The demise of signs/Reading Burma-Shave!

for Piers Morgan & Anderson Cooper

Who’s not racist, do stand not up, please
Isn’t S/He who put us here the biggest
S/he who asked to be put here, stand up, please

We’re all African, so don’t ever tease
Mutations make some think they’re the best
Who’s not racist, do stand not up, please

Even the Neanderthal can freeze
Yet leave behind just a trace in jest
S/he who asked to be put here, stand up, please

Did the Heidelbergers race the pygmies
Up Peking Man’s cave to win the contest
Who’s not racist, do stand not up, please

Can the genes of Evolution release
The real truth of the DNA test
S/he who asked to be put here, stand up, please

Will not Human Nature be our complice
   Arraigned before a jury perplexed
Who’s not racist, do stand not up, please
S/he who asked to be put here, stand up, please

A Ruthful Threnody

For fiercest queens, the finest pedigree,
Begetter and bestower of all lauds;
For foulest plagues, the fairest remedy,
Despoiler and destroyer of all frauds.
Revered for rectitude, renowned for laurels,
You helped reform the world to honest fame;
Reviled as sinister, renounced on morals,
The world deformed you to mendacious shame.
Now candid trade’s betrayed by blackened graft,
And harmless wit’s harangued by hurtful wile,
And simple skill’s arraigned by compound craft,
And vulgar pride's maintained by vulpine guile.
The grossest lies all get averred for gain
Since humblest truth became impugned and slain.

"50 Words for Poe: The Wicker Man"

Lost in the fire of his own mind
Lost in the fire of his own heart betrayed
Lost in the fire of his own life arraigned
Lost in the absence of Love, always

No Home
Man on Fire
Afraid

Freedom to be found in the fire of his own sorrow
Freedom to be found in the fire of his own soul
Freedom to be found in the fire of his own today n’ere tomorrow
Freedom to be found in the fire of his own higher-self to remember

Time now to let go
Time is not borrowed

Burn the past to find Home

The Ocean calls him Home calls him Home calls him Home

“It is said by the Eldar that in water there lives yet the echo of the Music of the Ainur more than in any substance that is in this Earth; and many of the Children of Ilúvatar hearken still unsated to the voices of the Sea, and yet know not for what they listen.” Tolkien, The Silmarillion

“Ocean, n. A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man — who has no gills.” Ambrose Bierce, The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary

Alexander Briant

He was raised Protestant –
later, upon studies,
he converted to Catholicism
and became a Jesuit

as is current pope Francis.
He labored with zeal
after ordination,
proclaiming true religion to all Nations.

With six other priests he was arraigned
on the charge of high treason
and condemned to death by an English court.
He was subjected to inhuman tortures and executed.

In prison, he converted
many fellow prisoners,
imprinting the cross of Christ
on their minds.

When In Death

Requiem lost within the ever after frown,
and it's down;
glorious fluff a flutter and a raining,
to the dust, my lungs farewell.

For cancer, nay a zodiac's best friend
and it's cursed horoscope, to end-
public breathing projects,
public drinking projects
and the life's essentials long forgot;
...I cast my luck with fate's dump truck.

The song of wheezing, puff and in;
the sound that something's wrong within,
the shallow mile we've walked so far,
was all that worth it for a car?

Dust arraigned and dust opaque,
flying nearsight near my face ,
wafting to and fro with breeze,
my lungs shrivel and cough and wheeze.

Then the glowing dust in cell,
permeates my inner self,
and I idle gawk about,
at scenery ado without;

thus terror, thus plague,
yet all is so opaque;

...so opaque is the frown,
the world now wears it as a crown;

...eternity seems so royal, when in death.

After the Storm

Rainwater stands in rippling pools, or trickles by.
Sharp fusillades of hail pelt down...and glance --
Far distant thunder calls, and echoes a reply.

Sunshine, streaming through the clouds, lights up the sky;
Like sunlight, shattered by a prism, rainbows dance --
Rainwater stands in rippling pools, or trickles by.

In search of worms, a daring robin, keen and spry --
As warbling songbirds greet a pristine world, entranced.
Far distant thunder calls, to echo a reply.

The earth seems, here and there, to nearly liquify --
Stray raindrops falling, glisten...happenstance.
Rainwater stands in rippling pools, or trickles by.

In full glorious bloom, wildflowers revivify...
Like tiny armies, windswept, sway and prance;
While distant thunder calls, to echo a reply.

Rows of thunderheads, arraigned, withdraw on high --
While shadows flee -- daylight makes swift advance.
Rainwater stands in rippling pools, or trickles by;
While distant thunder calls, to echo a reply.

From the point of many seasons gone,
I am framed back to an earlier time,
Where caution and restraint have not been realized
and eager anticipation awaits.

A time of young promise and hopeful dreams,
when life is at full zest, bringing its riches to bear,
beckoning on, offering the summer of youth
to explore and enjoy.

For it is the time of hatching memories
 from the cocoons of wonder.
The time when buds bloom revealing petals
that only dress one garden.

Oh, the beauty of youth in the summer of life!
Breathtaking, captivating and so perfectly arraigned
with vibrant callings and colorful awakenings,
soft and light, destined to wing our lives forward.

To soon it seems this season passes,
that is what frames it, I suppose,
This portrait of promise and reflection
Kindles today with yesterday.

Being now at a more vigilant place,
Where wisdom and experience dance,
Offering a minuet of experience,
I reflect with grateful satisfaction.

Premium Member Long Story Short

A walk around the block in my parents’ neighborhood at dawn
wearing mom’s sweater and pop's sneakers with a clown hole cut out for
      toe infection
I was stopped by a cop in a cruiser
this was during the Vietnam War long hair ago
he was angry at everyone I was offended by everything
he said which way are you going I said which way are you going
so he socked me in the mouth and handcuffed me
I was arraigned on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
my good parents came down and stood beside me before the judge
I wrote to the police department internal affairs
not for retribution but to start a paper trail
in case this cop someday bopped one of my brothers
a few months later I’m back at work in NYC
two detectives come into the city to question me
one good cop one bad cop we park in the park me in the back seat
they wanna know was I mouthy to the cop who punched me in the mouth
long story short
they leave me on a bench to eat my lunch and the charges are dropped
