My Bio

Born fish, a number three, perfect swimmer in sea,
Dearest child of my parents, eldest of the three,
Born with a silver spoon, a royal childhood,
Romantic and lively teens, witty and keen,
By God's grace, blessed with the best,

Burnt night oil in studies, to later realise,
Education doesn't surely turn you wise,
Married to my love, I am on cloud nine,
One sweet son, reason to dine and wine,

Extremist, passionate and quite a lot crazy,
Always on the toes, never ever feeling lazy,
Travel, adventure, peace and nature loving,
Dear friends my beats tugged at heartstrings,

Corruption and cruelty I can't tolerate,
Subjugation of women the most I hate,
Greed and selfish attitude makes me cry,
Gender inequality a curse so rampant but why?

New sunshine brings hope, it's my supper, it's my tibia,
Upma daughter of Anand and Sumitra, Chandigarh, India !

Tell me something boss..
It is wrong to watch Poorn?
I am not forcing anyone..
What is wrong If I want some
Self Gratification???

Anand

Anand means happiness
Its spell directly
Enters into heart
Mind recharges
Takes to a mood happy
It comes from heart
Purifying lungs
Vocal chord sweets
Can reach near
The magical word "OM"
Of Hindu Culture
Its hear is dearer
Its spell is spellbound
Its meaning is inspiring
Great name for great write
Pushing you up
To write if not poetry
Then something to read always.

Buddha: Be Thy Own Light

One may many a scripture read
Of disparate, divergent views,
Incongruent their wisdom’s creed,
Heavy that weighs down to confuse:
Hindu monks walk in saffron wear,
Buddhists in their tawny yellow,
All-white a wear’s what Jains prefer,
And some wear naught but their halo!

Doubt, dress can cloud a confused mind.
If so whose wisdom should one tow?
Who can help higher up to grow?
Who can help hereafter to find?
You indeed, self help any day,
Be thy own light, find thy own way.

Poet’s note: Anand was Buddha’s key disciple and an elder cousin. Seeing his master breathing his last, he felt a void without his guru’s guiding spirit. It is then that Buddha uttered his last words: Be thou thy own light. He contemplated on these words and realized true knowledge within a day of Buddha’s death.

Love and Attachment: Tales of the Hear

Prem aur moh, do alag raah,
Ek pyaar ka, ek bandhan ka sahaara.
Prem mein hai utsaah, sangharsh aur samarpan,
Moh mein hai moh maaya, bharam aur bhool-bhulaiyaan.

Prem mein hai samajh, saath nibhaana,
Moh mein hai lalach, khud ko bhool jaana.
Prem mein hai vishwaas, niraasha ki jagah,
Moh mein hai andhere, sacchai ki parchaaiyan.

Prem ek amrit hai, jeevan ka suroor hai,
Moh ek jaal hai, bhool bhulaiya ka chakravyuh hai,
Prem se milti hai shanti, saath aur anand,
Moh se milta hai tanav, virakti aur vyatha ka vyavhaar.

Prem mein hai sachai, moh mein hai maya,
Prem mein hai satya, moh ne hai bhram jaal bichaaya.
Prem mein hai aatma ki mithaas, moh mein hai sansaar ka bhaagya,
Prem ek vishwaas hai, moh ek bhool bhaavna.

The Sole Sky Surfer

"Let the moon teach you the art of being beautiful and lonely at the same
time.” ~Anand Thakur

O, the night traveler
you are the beacon for
the distressed who are
dwelling in darkness.
As the knight of the night,
you ride upon your white steed
wearing a silver armor
for those hopeless lovelorn.
You are the afterglow of the sun
when it retires for the day.

We draw life's patterns, vibrant and bold,
We arrange our karma, both new and old.

In the mandala of time, we place our stories,
In the chakra of days, we set our glories.

We shape tales of anand, we shape tales of dukh,
We turn the kaleidoscope of kismet, we turn the kaleidoscope of sukh.

Our paths intersect like mehendi designs, creating complex jali,
Our steps trace yantras across time and space, holy.

We inlay memories with precision's steady hand,
We assemble moments that defy maya's shifting sand.

In the rangoli of existence, we are both colour and artist,
In the grand leela, we stand distinct, yet part of it.

We tint our experiences in hues of rasa,
We colour our world with unwavering asha.

Our lives unfold like origami, fold by fold,
Our journeys map nakshatras of struggle and peace untold.

We sketch our sapna on the canvas of possibility,
We paint our aasha with brushstrokes of tenacity.

In the bindi of humanity, we each place our dot,
In the raaga of being, we play our allotted slot.

We construct sangha, diya by diya,
We forge bandhan that make life our priya.

Our patterns may crack, our designs may fade,
But in life's grand rangoli, our chinh is made.
