Best Ambush Poems
I walked with ease
a comfortable moment after sunset,
I wore clean, comfortable skin
and comfortable, casual attire.
Past glowing shopfronts
on clean, wide pavements,
warm evening slowly darkened,
a good time would be had by all.
I don't care much for the parties,
but good company is good,
just as good as a good time,
a good time would be had by all.
Until the unexpected ambush.
Glowing shopfronts vanished.
Clean, wide pavements grew dark and dirty.
I was ambushed by a gang of forgotten abuses.
I was helpless against the mad mob,
they beat me to the ground,
stomped on the back of my head,
printed my face on the concrete curb.
Broke my nose and some ribs,
bust my skin wide open,
tore my favourite, crisp black shirt,
took my wallet and my watch.
After a few bleak moments, humiliated and alone,
I scraped my sorry ****
from the sneering ground
and continued on my way.
A good time remained to be had by all,
a less good time for me,
but good company would be almost as good
as the good time had by all.

There's a lovely tropic island at the bottom of the map,
It's a paradise on earth except for one small handicap;
We have wallabies and kangaroos to only name a few,
And a gentler crowd is seldom found in any city's zoo.
But there's danger lurking everywhere throughout these tropic isles..
The forests here are full of snakes, the rivers; crocodiles!
There are miles of golden beaches where the crowds don't hesitate,
But just beyond the breakers, swift and hungry shadows wait!
In the land of Oz, downunder, lives a creature greatly feared
Both in quiet rural country and the city he's appeared.
His appearance is deceiving, and he sometimes looks quite strange..
And his colour varies widely right across his tropic range.
You may see him lurk half-hidden near a path or watercourse
Where he waits with endless patience and attacks without remorse!
He may strike your leg from ambush on some dark and moonless night.
And in terror you will recoil, and you may just die of fright!
So you'll rush off to the doctor, sure that it will do no good,
But he'll find no deadly venom, just a bit of splintered wood.
'I think that you'll survive', he says, 'although the leg may ache,
For you have just been bitten by the dreaded Bentstick Snake! '

I gently stroked her neck, as she lay calm,
and ran my fingertips along her back,
although surprised, she didn't seem alarmed
quickly relaxed, with both her shoulders slack.
But seconds later I increased my grip,
pinning her face down upon the bed,
panic set in, she tried her best to slip
out from my grasp, she writhed, twisting her head.
She cried, lashed out, and managed to draw blood,
I gasped in pain, but still I held on tight,
despite all her attempts, it proved no good
she now lay still, had given up the fight.
Few things in life are much harder than that
of trying to put flea drops on a cat.

There are times
when you walk down the hall to
yet another meeting, walk from your
car to the strip mall pharmacy that dispenses
your Viagra, or stand before a classroom of
dedicated students for another stimulating lecture
on urban ecosystems, that some sound, some color,
some geometric pattern triggers unwanted memories
about people you loved that didn’t get your best,
that were somehow roughed up by the mean,
the mercurial, the muscular machinations that
served your righteous way forward and
suddenly your are naked, a declining
physique with an fascinating tapestry of surgical
scars, blotches and bruises from rugby,
relationships and reckless behaviors, and the people
around you are unknowing, unforgiving, uncomfortable
with your silence, wishing you’d move on instead of
searching in the hallway, the cracked parking lot, your
hand-written lecture notes for the clothing and armor that
have carried you this far or at least for a robe that might
hide the embarrassment of your shame and your guilt
and the nasty suspicion that, given another
chance, you’d behave the same way again!

Raining, periodic glimpses
of eyes glinting, stripes disclosing
a tiger prowling through the forest:
peering, listening, smelling,
drooling, stalking, circling, pausing.
Thunder, lightning revealing
the tiger slinking in the tall grass;
crouching, recoiling, springing;
exposing the big cat running,
prey seeing, panicking, fleeing.
Panoramic vision flashing,
tiger leaping, clawing, biting;
animal stumbling, tumbling,
asphyxiating, dying;
tiger tearing, licking, eating.
Sarkari hackers work as government employees
They get paid for it
This is what they do
They feed the Ego of their agency officers
They use their skills to control their subjects
They push them around
They bend them to their will
Some of them work as secret agents
They facilitate
They duplicate
They manipulate
They track
They attack.

EVEN YOU BRUTUS
Many are the thoughts in hearts of men,
None to decipher it,
A smile can be for good and also for evil,
None to comprehend it,
Handshake can be for unnoticed challenge,
The mind has planned mischief and the hand is set to execute it.
You were my friend,
Swayed by greed you turned the cards against me in secret,
And laughed with me in the open,
I thought I was secured by our trust,
But it's fortress was besieged by your desires,
How would I have known all this, for I was mesmerized by our bond,
You betrayed that trust and stabbed me in the back,
How can it be you my friend,
Even you Brutus.
ANYABOLU IFEANYICHUKWU DOMINION
Thunder doesn't lead to rain
In every single case.
At times, it just announces
A disturbance taking place.
I guess it's like the way a growl
Implies a close attack.
It might be just a warning
With the consequence held back.
The same applies to life, for we
Might heed a false alarm
And then discover what we feared
Caused not one drop of harm.
The ambush or the sneak attack,
Without its warning boast,
Is what we never do expect
And what should scare us most.
Mr. Cat knew it all; he had opinions upon opinions.
He caused a ruckus in every corner of his town.
Did not care; it was his way – devil’s advocate
With a devil’s cat tongue.
The other cats were sick of it.
They could not take bossy and arrogant.
Mr. Cat was lured into the forest
It was not pretty
They began by knocking off his top hat
They stole his monocles
And they were mean and snotty
He was astounded. None of them had ever complained.
