Best Ahead Poems

Two Days Ahead

I must try and lead my dreams,
to where the lost and unforgiving answers,
rejuvenate their circle.

Two days, have somehow passed
and my eyes are half empty.

I still need to sleep.

Two days, ahead now
and my eyes are half full.

Hence, the satirical tear shed,
to hypothetically cleanse....

absolutely nothing.

Premium Member Go Ahead I Dare Ya Breakup Poetry No One Should See

And He
my dearest
maturest mate to date
has bitterly regressed
to a child irate
from man of logic
to impish state
a hexer vile
filled with hate
while I don't believe
I've changed a bit
he thinks me evil
my mother split
as saccharin
as the Harpie race
bewitching temptress
evil face
necessity
I do suppose
for his childish fit
to so dispose

Ahead of His Time

Young Shakespeare didst say to his tutor,
"Methinks I wouldst be much astuter,
And per chance, I wouldst say,
Mightest write a screen play,
If some fool wouldst invent the computer."

One Step Ahead

Neil Armstrong shot off to the moon
Strapped into a cosmic cocoon.
He came to renown
When one foot went down
Ahead of poor Buzz -what a boon!

But as they returned to home base,
Buzz had a big smile on his face.
For there on the sea
Of tranquility
He'd aced the first 'selfie' in space!

The Road Ahead

The road ahead,
  opens up before me,
  suddenly, wide and wondrous and untraveled;
The trees rise high, stretching, inching higher,
touching the sky and unseen horizon.
It is a blend of indescribable color,
flowing profusely in the path along the way.
The air is thick with the incense of fall,
dry leaves and burning, outdoor fires
  hanging in the air.
The scent is of a changing season,
  a bow, respect, a genuflection
in awe of God's superior gifts.
The roads less traveled awaits,
  setting in place a path,
  an unplanned journey to newness.
Breathe in the color hues of reds, oranges, yellows,
  brushed and painted lovingly
with all the signs of autumn.
The scent of change,
 take the ride
set by the hands of God.

Premium Member What Lies Ahead

Write like it's your last poem
Sing like it's your last song
Love like it's your very first love
Kisses as sweet as a baby dove's

Every morning, bounce out of bed
Who can tell what lies ahead
Weave through the day in a special way
Be it sunny and bright or cloudy and gray

Whatever you do, do it with joie d' vivre
With power and passion, though not all fevered
You've got your plans; the Creator has His
When He lowers the curtain ~ That's show biz!

Premium Member Upbeat Day Ahead

I hail each bronze, red, and blue coloured dawn,

as pulsing heart mould torch flame of bliss,

to gaze across some awestruck mint sprig lawn,

that golden birthright never goes amiss

Eye beam urban verve one duly savours,

coruscating joie de vivre street life,

bursts of swift dash coffee’s hazel flavours,

cell-phone upbeat day ahead hubbub rife

Blue robin high pitch chirp from chimney top,

sets the tone for morning wonders brightly,

activate those spark prompt hunches nonstop,

schedules met in narrow windows tightly

In suburb or in city centre fair,

skies and pavements segue with deft flourish,

your dreamland ticket ace broad daylight flair,

groundbreaking spurt fantastic, let us nourish

Dynamic itch to stray amid blind alley,

lurk within some parboiled notion latent,

steel clad zone that mosaic sculpted tally,

animated focus me the claimant

Premium Member The Steps Ahead

. . . and with a haughty drink
of Virgil’s water
from the River Lethe
I venture forth knowing nothing
bring on the steps ahead
and what awaits . . .

but the waters have a taste
and some things feel familiar
a few of the steps ahead
look like my footprints

turning to a river
I feel I once chanced upon
and sensing
I am but circles within circles

Danger Ahead

beware the thorny brambled track ~ trespassers risk entanglement

Proverbs 4 verse 14 (New King James)

Premium Member Stepping Ahead After Divorce

Divorcing self from awful negatives
I step ahead, bouncing through God’s power
Gladly inspired with cheerful directives
To share love's bliss and peace of grace-shower.

Triumphing against selfishness-trial
Freeing from “me-I-mine” so prison-bound
To reach-out for others, sans betrayal
My heart sows goodness seeds on kindness-ground.

Persisting against vain personal gain
I join with fellows midst blest partnership
Prevailing against separation-pain
Creating new vibrant relationship.

*2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Premium Member A Few More Miles Ahead of Time

I often wonder if it’s worth the effort
with a keyboard or paper and pen
to pour out my thoughts, heart, mind and soul
from the ocean and rivers within

The marrow in my bones
hidden deep within these veins
“This universe is a miracle,”
I’ve heard Einstein once proclaimed

Though admittedly, I’m not near his kind
(far beyond my likes, by stars)
I merely try to follow those
I think know where they are

A few more miles ahead of time
“Out yonder,” my dad would say
where I can only dream of writing
a splendorous sonnet someday

Or perchance a valediction poem
a goodbye to the past
or my rendition of a benediction
thanking Hymn for all the love that lasts

And open a few doors with some metaphors
enjambment or anapest
find inspiration from alliteration
while striving towards my best

Thus, here I rest in the morning air
inhaling hope, exhaling despair
as birds fly bye and gentle winds blow
and pray more thoughts of beauty will flow

Premium Member Up Ahead

I'll climb the old oak
      to look up ahead,
           to see where he went,
                      the land of the dead

                       I'm hopin' to hear
                           him whistle to me,
                                       call out my name-

                                          "Jamesy over here"

                         it's been a long time
since I rode on his shoulders,
                                                     held on to his ears
                                                            as we walked around boulders

                                      he'll have me shake hands
with all of his friends, hug
                                                                 Grandpa and Grandma,
                                                                                 .... I miss them too

                                          but mostly my Dad
                                                 I'll be glad to see,
                                                    he loved me a lot

                                                             "with him I'll be free"

Premium Member The Road Ahead

     A gaslit street
       of cobblestone

     The horse-drawn carriage
       faintly moans

     A snowstorm quickens
       the traveler groans

     The road ahead
        no longer shown

     His way home
       no longer known

     The road ahead
        no longer shown

      A white tombstone
        whistles ~ all alone

Premium Member Still a Brave New World Ahead - Cloning, Eugenics Not Dead

Is government control of humans’ birth, aging, and dying
In century 26, as practiced by a new World State;
Different from 20th century’s use of eugenics,
Which used “fitness” to determine people’s reproductive fate?

A high-tech London, where humans’ material needs are met,
Setting of Aldous Huxley’s, Brave New World, utopian tale;
Sterile world of human cloning and conditioning to castes,
Recreational soma drug and sex use on widespread scale.

In respite from his boss’ – the DHC’s – awkward confessions,
Bernard and Lenina fly to the Savage Reservation.
There they meet Linda and her young adult son, John “the Savage”,
Fathered by DHC 20 years before, on vacation.

Bernard publicly presents Linda and John to DHC,
Bringing Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning [DHC] down.
DHC flees from “sin” of involvement in natural birth.
Bernard and new celebrity, John “the Savage”, gain renown.

Finally, John rejects the soma, sex, and clones of London,
Spurns Lenina’s moves and keeps soma from “lower” Delta caste.
His retreat to do penance draws crowds and curiosity;
Leads to suicide by hanging – John’s perceived freedom at last.

This Brave New World’s parallels to eugenics cannot be lost,
Since, in both cases, the state had a hand in who lives and dies.
American Breeder’s Association, “better babies,”
Forced sterilizations – how U.S. eugenics took its guise.

Human cloning now – gene, reproductive, or therapeutic –
Raises a host of ethical, moral, and other issues.
Somatic nuclear transfer to clone human embryos
Evokes Brave New World’s ‘soma’ in copying people’s tissues.

Eugenics – legal in U.S. until 1970’s;
Its dehumanizing nature gone from society’s norms?
With current human cloning research, genetic ‘shopping’, more,
No one’s safe ‘til humankind is respected in all its forms.
