I watch as she sleeps,
the gentle rise and fall of her chest
making sure her breathing is rhythmic

Thoughts take me back years ago
when we were playmates ~sisters
separated by little more than a year.
A tear escapes my eyes. I wipe it away
for if she wakes and sees me crying,
her tears will flow again.

My sister, my best friend
Always

My Fathers Bedside Goodbye

MY FATHERS BEDSIDE GOODBYE..
His Legacy 6/24/2022

Standing on lifes fragile ledge,
I gaze
    wonderingly
into your brown orbs.

Windows into a house built
By your large hands
Hands That I would now inherit.

Deep and cavernous..
        oh the stories they tell.

Rooms filled with comings and going’s..
The good, and the bad..
The all encompassing Rolodex of filed away emotions.

Bedside Prayers

In the quiet that comes from the setting sun
I close my eyes, and hope for sleep
To soothe my soul with prayers to the ONE
As in the prayer, “My soul to keep”

A child would kneel by their bed then say a prayer
A simple little childhood verse
As adults, we can no longer kneel down there
‘Cos getting up

Lies At My Bedside

Why do I crave a chase I can never obtain
the question of the day
Research, what more research can be uncovered
from a 9 year expedition to find the answer
not much more
And what do I expect
And what do I hope for
for them to see something worthy in me
for them to believe I'm worth the time
for

Oh love of mine what can you do,
When day finds loved one soon to die,
Poor taste the joke, self-serving tears,
What gain is there when you deny?

And what exactly would you want
If suddenly the roles could switch,
Is sadness traction that you seek?
Do other’s tears your death enrich?

Think more of how your folks behaved,
They tucked you in,

Bedside

I was asleep when I saw him at my beside.
He gasped the dark air and tried to hide,
I stretched my arms wide but it was in vain:
few feathers amid my fingers was my gain.

A mark I found where no one should see.
I blushed, half in panic and half in pure glee,
Did he missed or

Our first night together, bedside lights out
Tomorrows our new day, our worlds to restart
Union of two is what our lives are all about
Happiness with kids, with love in our hearts

Bedside

I twist with each terrible moan
escaping your lips in distress
while you lie prone, never alone,
to guess or stress on progress

of that mass invading you
sparked by ecology's change
to accrue tissues untrue
deranged limp in the exchange

until pulsing force vacates
through the tears welling inside
as their chemicals placate
to guide you outside doe-eyed

with papery sympathy
numbing such churning decay
to quake me

Beside Your Bedside

I woke at midnight, the digital clock like an electric rooster
It doesn’t tick but I hear the seconds pass with emphasized thud, thud, thud,
The kingdom of white, sterile, eunuchs wound by clockwork
Into the storm upon the horizon, placed within a bone china teacup
Drifting but safe from all unsavoury lesser gods or lesser men
Nothing remotely stimulating

Bedside Manners

There was a brother
Who, went in guise of visiting his ailing sister
At bedside, he started a fight
He turned her only link to the world to
A wrestling match, which made her head whirl
When she did protest, he made the mistake of stating
That he would kick her behind, the fire returned too the weakened one
As with

By the Bedside, Weeping

A visitor,
I sit by night and day
unmoved to pen a loving word
no more the Muse its lightning thrusts
of inspiration cast my woeful way
while waiting, watching,
nothing left
of hope, of comfort –
nothing right to say
to ease the anguish,
relieve the constant pain
of dying – not a chance to start again
armed with the choice
to

Bedside Colloquy

“Never once doubt that my love will survive,
Blessing you always while you are alive.
When our hearts beat no more, love we will share.
All of eternity love will be there.”

So you would say to me, but you were wrong:
Love’s but a blossom frail or a brief song,
Withered the petals, the music off-key.
Sometimes I think that you
