Who
desires
to ascend?
There is no one
within distinct from
existence, or let’s say,
universal consciousness.
Recognise we’re not body-mind
but rather spirit that in-dwells form.
With this preamble we may then shift,
silencing mind, melding with heart,
soul’s firm focus flicker-free,
befriending the vast void,
empty of concepts,
thus allowing
divine grace
to touch
us.

I am your basic product in demand
I am on the market shelf discounted
50% off, marked down as special
I am on the bridge between the shifts
I am a shopping spree gone wrong
Jumping off the ledge into the river cold
Time stands still regardless of the consequence
Prices tumble but never fall
I am now drifting into savings
At landing I become the values earned
Coupons have no equal
Back on dry land I come alive
I come in 12 packs egg-less empty
In cartons at the grocery stores I hide
Behind the sales lost packaging
I am on sale at any price
I am the market value stamped
I am checked out at all cost
I am lost at a cost transcendent
You've a ring, I've an earring
Together we've a little thing
That we both share, onyx wear
Worn without too much fanfare
I see yours and you see mine
It's something that I know you like
And if you do, I do too
Whatever brings me close to you
thoughts not on pause
feral flaws show
the cause desire
Basic baby basic,
as anyone can assess;
Subdued since sunset;
I intend to instigate.
Care to not be careful?
I'm stuck in survival
Feeling so primal
All I do is eat and sleep
My life's in a spiral
Cause my chemistry is tidal
And it's pulling me into the deep
All my days are so idle
Like someone turned down the dial
All I hear is the floorboards creak
Will our souls be recycled
After we finish life's trails?
I guess that's a secret we're cursed to keep
What's an inch to a mile?
Or a story without a title?
A beautiful view never looked so steep
All I hear's my racing vitals
Will this breath be my final?
I almost forgot about my appointment next week
The humidity was doing a good job of keeping pace with the temperature. Until around 10 AM when the thermometer pushed its way past 100. That’s when 176 frightened kids and a few old hippies staggered out of the crowded cattle trucks. “Alright you maggots, RUN,” voices screamed from beneath wide brimmed Smokey Bear hats. So, we ran…and ran, duffle bags slung over our shoulders. Hours passed before we finally came to attention under the blistering Missouri sun. All the while, the bears circled. Sniffing the air and grunting. “Don’t show them any fear,” one of the old hippies whispered, “they pray on the weak.”

The major difference I found between obedience,
and whitewashing a coal bin with a toothbrush.
While one was intent on dominating my thoughts,
the other to larceny my time and give ego a crush.

BASIC
Humans inherit
basic instincts in order,
hunger, survival
and feelings to develop.
next reproduction follows.
Then sprout emotions
yielding kindness, compassion,
caring and sharing,
love and inquisitiveness,
fear, anger, malice or greed,
Which will you control
or which to apply, being prompt
is Humanity
guided by brain, mind and soul
'. on ultimate perfection.
A little basic
but completely true;
Happy is a smile,
just a simple light;
It spreads everywhere;
Hugs are healing
gentle blankets
wrapped around you;
Strong solid fort;
Sounds cliche’;
Pure joy is
fathomless;
Hold tight;
Share the
warmth.

Refusing Diligence, To Do Even Basic Math
Why do we too oft blindly walk a deep, darken path
Through the volleys of arrows shot by Fate's mighty wrath
When in this wicked world, we could accept light's reprieve
By opening both heart and eyes to truth thus perceive
That darkness rests within our souls, all flesh is the same
That glaring fact, ensuing battles are no mere game.
Why do we too oft blindly walk a deep, darken path
Refusing diligence to do even basic math
When from within, we feel those hard-fought battles raging
It is a war and true enemies we are engaging
Thus 'tis folly to not recognize that fierce-some foe
And find, accepting evil allow darkness to grow.
Why this glaring reality do we too oft deny,
If not in our souls, darkness hides waiting to Light defy?

Sonnet
Note:
Tis a somber reality that we too oft embrace life as a game,
Not seeing in youth, that it is our rashness we must tame.
A circle has no beginning and no end
An elbow has only one way to bend,
A triangle always has only three sides
No one knows where a platypus resides,
All totaled, a piano has eighty-eight keys
When you kneel, you get on your knees,
The clock ticks once for every second
Do you know the meaning of “fecund?”

I knew you would leave anyway
When trust is broken, sorry means nothing
You are a chapter in my book I have to put away
I sit and watch our love decay
I knew you were bluffing
I knew you would leave anyway
I should have known right away
I hated who you were becoming
You are a chapter in my book I have to put away
No one saw the fighting everyday
They only viewed the hugging
I knew you would leave anyway
You put me on display
I was open for judging
You are a chapter in my book I have to put away
It feels like only yesterday
Oh my I miss your loving
I knew you would leave anyway
You are a chapter in my book I have to put away
