Have you ever thought about this?
there's so many things to consider here
you'll not know who'll be there or not
whether any shows emotion even a tear
You will have left the scene of time
no longer to be ruled by the clock
having left this body of yours behind
dust to dust, ashes to ashes never to walk
Now let's consider this funeral of yours
the attendance may be single figures or less
but who knows it could be a pack out
the clergyman's word hopefully would bless
Those left behind have it all to do
arrange your funeral, pensions and all of that
trust they will mourn your final passing
having memories of your life from the start
But you won't be there ever again
you'll be in eternity way out there
either in God's presence or farther away
today you can come to God in humble prayer
(Have you ever thought about your funeral? I just thought none of us would attend our funeral which is quite a thought, so this is my thoughts on this event. )

The element of change is to keep your destiny alive
Life will rearrange itself because you must be kept on track!
Your life needs change bringing on the reality that
Every man and woman will attend the academy of transformation
The anatomy of a season will spring forth new life in your heart and
Darkness will appear as light and night as day!
Sometimes there are things in our lives that are not meant to stay
Sometimes you are protected and you had no idea
The mere fact that change has come to your life
Shows you that your destiny is greater but
The process to get there can be more painful than others!
Sometimes change may not be what you want but
In reality change is constant, change is compulsory!
On this planet, change is the only thing saving your life
In the arena of love, change is a necessity
Sometimes there are things in our lives that are not meant to stay
Because every man and woman will attend the academy of transformation

The rainy season arrives
Today we have a gloomy and surly weather
It makes me feel heavy and depressed
Spaced out
Fed up
Finally retreat to a confinement
To avoid being wet out
The bustle and hustle of the outside
Being blocked out
An inner self is left
I feel somewhat alone and lost
Am l really alone
Of course not
I then think of my loved ones
I then think of God
Who is ever ready to attend to us
They were all briskly heading
For a full member's wedding
With an attached harsh Levy
Only too fittingly heavy
For The Careless Absentee,
Who had stayed back like a tree;
Not The Dying at that time,
For that is Poor Health's own crime
A New Couple for wild cheer
While not skipping pleasing beer;
Charles and Eve watch as they join
And their church leave as one loin!
Pete had an ordinary funeral, nothing ostentatious or showy.
Two straight backed strangers appeared in his small Iowa church.
They were dressed in Air Force uniforms.
They hugged each other for a long time.
Another soldier gone, one said.
Our brother said the other.
These three had been the only survivors of C Company.
In the middle of a jungle swamp in Viet Nam in 1970.
From his catbird seat Pete Lansford watched.
He was grinning at them so hard that Jim looked up.
Pete gave him a high five, but neither Jim or Joe could see him.
Thank you for letting me watch my funeral he told the angel.
Befiore one climbs the ladder to the heaven
One must fulfill one's promise on earth
Glitter the life on earth
Herald a meaningful life
Attend to the needy
Fair to the unfortunates
Treasures on earth are to be shared fairly
Just like the share of a place in the heaven
When you've paid on earth
Sure you'll be free in the heaven
This is what I believe
I can't attend your funeral, I'll share no eulogy;
I won't be present, though you've been a treasured friend to me.
I'd really love to pay respects at your last resting place
but I've not had the joy to ever meet you face to face.
I've never been inside your home nor driven down your street,
in fact, I might not recognize you if we chanced to meet.
The face in your small avatar (or maybe a design),
is all I have to go on if our paths should intertwine.
And yet I know your heart - you've written poetry sublime,
your comments at my poems lift my spirits every time.
When you reply, it's like we've both been friends for many years,
and when your soupmails come, I know we're more than simply peers.
Some live in other countries, most are many miles away.
The cost of travel is prohibitive, I'm sad to say.
When close the curtains of my heart at last, you will be there
in spirit, thanks to poetry that we've been blessed to share.
// This is my gratitude poem to the many Soup friends who
have been my lifeline in 2020. Thank you all ~ John //

Slow down, even with prayer, look at SKY
So easy to forget, as with God, and why?
We THINK we must hurry. Don't. Attend fully.
With all changes we can attend,
So constitution had to amend;
Meet need;
All agreed;
No one would we ever offend.

Should pain attend me?
Sorrow, toil, woe in the hour of trial?
No, this can’t be; I have a friend so precious
Very dear, Who more than all in thee I find
Highly wonderful to cause my fainting soul’s rejoices
Jesus, lover of my soul
Quickly puts my troubles to an end
Even in time of the storm
Hangs my helpless soul on thee
Other refuge have I none
In the loudest silence
His melody within my heart rings
He never leaves, His support and comfort I gain
Surely I am kept under His safe wings
My Love, love to me in him you revealed
However dark his plan might be
Deep love for God and man, I plead
He was defeated and through Him we won
Should pain attend us? Should bitterness live our souls?
No, His peace, joy and happiness we're filled
He cares, sees and Provides the best.
Intend To Attend
Your attention want to apprehend
And also greetings to you extend;
Make sure thought is in your mind;
To everyone should be ever so kind;
Always attend church do intend.
