me trudging walking
gripping onward forward 
traipsing baxter street monday 
and its steep inclines
going up like a dizzy sparrow
passing vertical merry go rounds 
the sly moulin rouge turnabouts 
that sip spit with maraschino endives

the stoner pink boys

After we met
I thought we really had something,
Really hit it off.
It wasn’t the words we spoke,

Around the corner in an alley
Behind a run-down diner
On a nameless Los Angeles street

Two strangers converge slowly on
The appointed location where 
Their mutual connection set a meet

On their first point of contact
An explosive reaction that
Produced something violent and divine

They continued their encounters
Coupling, colliding, entwining, dividing
Nearly every day of aught nine

City across the water, night by violet aurora
Los Angeles, we're further south than I thought (than we should be)
I take a strewn-bark trail to get a better view
Hand me the camera, Polaroids in quick succession (when is this?)
It's not quite capturing it, never the depth of field we need

When an expanse of sands comes into view
you’ll see sparsely dotted weeds lying flat on the ground.
For soil is sterile and weather is harsh the weeds are not only unable 
to grow tall but struggle to survive by laying flat on the ground.

Of this wilderness, though no vestige of civilization,
