Alfred in the wilderness

Alfred and the wilderness

Alfred, who with the greatest of ease tells, he is not my father
and I went for a walk across a chlorophyll-filled field.
Alfred, who is a musician and never ventures out in the landscape
saw some grazing sheep and wondered if they were dangerous,
No, I said they are sheep and born friendly
as God created them, to this, Alfred called me a crypto-Christian.
A little Lamb came up to my father, it was so sweet,
as only a lamb can be, he lifted it up, which the ewe disliked,
and it butted him in the rear.
Alfred was shocked, got up, and demanded that I bring him to safety
in the nearest town; never trust animals, they are all out
to get us, he said while limping to safer ground.

Premium MemberThe mermaids of J Alfred Prufrock

The other day, when I was walking by the sun-splashed sea,
I was overcome by a fiery joy and a titillating glee,
as, on silvery, green rocks not far from the yellow beach,
I heard mermaids singing, each to each.
And then they turned ~ and they sang to me!

Premium MemberTalking to my dog in words from 'J Alfred Prufrock'

I said to my dog, "Let us go then, you and I,
while pink, wispy clouds traverse the azure sky.
Oh, do not bark, ‘What is it?’
Let's just go and make our visit
to your favorite tree so you can whiz it.

And then, we’ll go walk a little by the beach,
to hear the mermaids singing, each to each.
And if you're real good, we’ll stop by the bakery nearby
and share a fresh piece of that yummy peach pie.”

He didn't respond. He just kept sniffing.

Premium MemberDo Not Go Down There

No, no, I tell you, no
Do not go down there,
Turn back from the door
Step away from the stair

I cannot tell you, I can't
The secrets and the lies,
Because... it's too... dreadful
When a pretty thing dies

Yes, she was a pretty thing
But, should you see her now,
All gone and gray and sunken
O, I could not tell you how ...

Don't look, please do not
Well, the door is open a bit,
Peer inside, dare if you must
Do so without my permit

But, o, the sun, she must set
And another day be done ...
Then up jumps the silver moon
Now ... isn't darkness fun!

English "Master of Suspense" director Alfred Hitchcock
would appear in his own movies, a character with bulk!
In "Psycho," one of his best movies from long ago,
Hitchcock's cameo appearance was at the start of that show.

Alfred and a church

Alfred and a church

The first time I met Alfred was in New York, where he appeared
on stage playing the sweetest of music.
I was alone and frightened, lost in an odd world of colors
Alfred, my father, followed me back to the ship, a night
that had a yellow haze and light rain.
For many years I didn’t see Alfred, busy as I was growing
and yes, so many beautiful girls, so much to take in.
It was in later years, when broke and abandoned, that he appeared
playing sweet music, listened to my story, nodding his head
helping me up.
The church was warm; in front of me, on the floor, a money note
enough for dinner and a bottle of wine, but Alfred was here too
I had to find a moral ground for my theft.
I ate the food, drank the wine, the change, I gave to the collection box.
The last time I saw Alfred, he came to say goodbye.
from now on, I had
to learn to manage my life without him.
I cried loudly in my sleep; a nurse woke me and asked what was wrong.
Alfred’s face was disappearing, erased by yellow mist and light rain.

Premium MemberAlfred Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock
Filmed movies about folks which stalk.
If you watch one, don't let your fears overpower
You, or you'll never get into the shower!

Hitchcock is known to have been very fond
Of beautiful ladies whose hair was quite blond.
Kim Novak and Grace Kelly
Make men's brains turn to jelly,
And, also, this filmgoer to respond!

Ten times, I've watched every film Hitchcock has made!
Let's watch one in my lonely motel, can I persuade?
You know, maybe, one thing might lead to another,
But I'm not sure it would be OK with Mother.

Premium MemberThe Essence Of Song

A poet is a musician
The instrument he/she plays are words
The heart of a musician is the essence of song
So when Lord Alfred Tennyson defined
Poetry as “the rhythmical creation of beauty”
He felt, he heard, he composed the internal song
Presenting sound and content
In a style of it’s own
Creating mood inspiring a view
Painting a phrase a cliche or two
It is music in the mind’s ear
Best poems are timeless text is clear
Be they transformed by languages years
Great poems live on
External life’s future peers

Alfred Goes Fishing

Alfred out fishing

Alfred, the pianist, who insists he is not my father,
And I went out fishing caught a few when I gutted one of them
We discovered a ring that Alfred said he had given to my mother Olga
In Ankara before the war. It was an expensive ring –
Gold was cheap back then- and it fitted his middle finger.
We didn't feel like eating fish after that, and I gave them to an elderly seal
resting on a sandbank, it lived on what other seals gave it.
When my father Alfred was very old, he gave me a ring to give Olga
my mother that refused to believe I was her son; she had never
seen the ring before and refused to take it, so I gave it back to the sea
and the forgotten tragedy of someone drowning alone; mind it is
rare that someone holds the hand of the ones who drown.

Deserted By Alfred

Deserted by Alfred

It was not my fault I had no shoes
And the police stopped and asked and since it was none of their business
I naturally told them to get lost
was handcuffed and put in a police car, which was more cooling than
the asphalt, after all, it was October in Albufeira.
I thought this is a perfect movement when a father defends his son
but Alfred who refuses to be my father had gone home
I was left to explain this ridiculous case, but luckily the Portuguese
police force felt sorry for me and let me go.
Next day I bought a pair of sneakers in a Chinese shop and my father
who refuses to be my father was wearing my leather uppers?

Deep As First Love, Wild As All Regret - Alfred Lord Tennyson

Deep as first love,
and wild as all regret -
               Alfred Lord Tennyson

There is an aching in the heart
slipping into tears that burn and tear apart
every fiber of your being
so that the eyes are no longer seeing.

Each look was just pretend
knowing well how love would end
and there deep in the hallowed halls of time
well I knew, you wouldn't always be mine.

A somber memory paints
the heartthrob emotions making youth faint
delirious with love and sensual feelings
enough to send two bodies reeling.

Shadows lurk easing back and forth
assured each struggle for their own worth
there in that selfish centered need
one would follow and the other lead.

Just a moment held
as lovers succumb to love's spell
that quickly fades and disappears
with hearts held back by fear.

There in the shadows, each one alone will walk
their first love slipped away without talk
and futures die in the dream's regret
but it is a memory none ever forget.

Premium MemberPoor Alfred

Robin the lollygag prince of evil was nowhere in sight.
Batman was beyond irritated, and he had a right.
He did not want to be mean, but bellow he did.
He woke up Robin, where he had so aptly hid.
Batman’s gingivitis was so bad in Arthur’s face that night,
He was glad when he saw the Batmobile go out of sight.
Poor Arthur promptly brushed his teeth, and ate chocolate he found.
He hit his goose down mattress, and did not make another sound.
