I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach / I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each./ ... I do not think that they will sing to me. ~  from the The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot

The other day, when I was walking by the sun-splashed sea, I was overcome by a fiery joy and a titillating glee, as, on silvery, green rocks not far from the yellow beach, I heard mermaids singing, each to each. And then they turned ~ and they sang to me!
