Affable Poems

The sailorman named Popeye
better known as Olive Oyl’s guy
seemed nothing more than an affable fishmonger
until he downed spinach to make him stronger

Ways of providence

There will surely be a guide ~
charting my path,
protecting,
and leading me
to my destined destination in life.
As if it were a promised payment
God made to me from heaven.

A visible hand
tucked out from an invisible tucker,
In a canoe on a river ~
gently rowing me along its flow.

Many near-deaths averted,
Many of life's debts miraculously paid,
many stale breaths,
yet never for a moment ceased.
All threats to my existence –
God canceled them,
sometimes with my sweat,
other times with just a little fret.

Yet still, I never got my feet wet or smelly,
even when I trudged through the sludge
left behind by life's avarice;
not a faint trace of the caprice
that clouds my destined destination.

There has to be only one explanation ~
providence,
not merely serendipity,
For I can see the hands of the I Am That I Am,
whispering their ubiquity,
through a tiny voice –
often feeble, yet ably affable,
I am cognisant of its presence,
especially when I disobey its warnings.
All these are never through kismet or fortuity ~
they are simply the ways of providence.
Case closed.

According To Wyatt

Affable people
are likeable fools
Divorced from the moment
their banter unspools

Affable people
in search of a creed
Amusing examples
— of folly indeed

CAKE DAY

It's my nephew's birthday
Kendrick by name to be precise
I feel excited and rejuvenated
His birth ignited my burning desire
Awakening my soul
Shifting my perspectives
Shedding old beliefs
He turned 1 year old today.

I admires his attributes
He smiles so bright
Naturally endowed with creativities
I wow and bow
"Whenever I watch his activities"
He's happy and optimistic
A wondrous baby, wunderkind I think.

He's differ but special, very unique.
Even at a very tender age,
He does and give what none can't
Get to know him and you'll see it's true
Wishing him a magnificent birthday
I pray his days on earth be glorious just as he's.
Happy womb escape day my amiable and affable nephew.

mysterious woman

It was, perhaps it still is, popular to take aerial pictures

of farms, frame them, visit the relevant farms and try

to sell them. I had a suitcase full and walked from farm

to the farm I didn’t sell many and was tired when I came to

a small farm, so minor that it was not in my portfolio.

I was thirsty it was July but, I wore a suit with tie to look

businesslike. Knocked on the door it was opened by

a woman who looked affable – this was long ago these

days no one opens doors to strangers- I asked for some

water and she led me to a well lowered a bucket and up

came a pail full of the coolest nectar. We spoke, a widow

a tractor accident had killed him, and she was childless.

I felt a strong sexual pull towards her and could read in her

eyes she felt the same also, but I was too timid to act on it.

I thanked her warmly and left. Years later I read about her

had been married five times and poisoned all her husbands’.

Premium MemberMind Of The Heart

“feeling not thinking, soul with love linking ~
we attained God consciousness unblinking”

In the awareness anchorage of the mundane mind,
detached from the ephemeral principled roots
by the dislodging drive of sequential dreary desires,
untamed instincts envelope the psychic realm.

As the needle of perception compass breaks down,
the vortex of emotions drags the reflective mind
into the transitory tide of the entrancing times,
the inner voice of conscience echoes unheard.

The embodiment of unique sensual existence,
life is the construct of esoteric sublime elements,
suffused supremely with heavenly essence of love
within the benevolent sanctum of the harmonic heart.

Beneath the serene surface of fond feelings,
the benign mind transitorily builds sensory images
on the fleeting screen of empathic mindfulness
that persists untransformed to portray affable emotion.

Under the multi-layered receptive stratum of awareness,
soul resides at the inner meditative depth of feeling,
where godly consciousness is the light of eternal truth,
reflecting enduringly the aura of bliss with divine glow.

Premium MemberMagical Glass

Hey, guess what I discovered. It's really a gas,
the most extraordinary kind of magical glass.
I gazed at it this morning, and what did I see,
but the funniest guy, who looked nothing like me.
With bags under his eyes, and in need of a shave,
this guy didn't seem to know how to behave.
When I approached closely to get a better view,
we painfully collided, and then I came to.
What a knucklehead, is all I have to say.
When I backed off, that chicken went the other way.
That glorified bozo matched my every move.
He must've been trying to get into my groove.
I've carefully studied the strange beasts' comportment.
He's somewhat limited in the brains department.
I try to be friendly. I try to be affable,
to the creature who is eminently laughable,
but his opinions are closed up. He's blind as a bat.
Too bad he lacks my perception to know where it's at.
Hey, it comes with instructions. I'll have to review:
"look into this glass and you will see the real you."

Premium MemberForty Years and Counting

Forty years ago, we said “I do”
You pledged to me, and I pledged to you
And in a fleeting moment’s span,
our journey through life began.

Our friendship over time has grown
Despite the curved balls, life has thrown.
God has His divine magic spun
Uniting our souls into one.

As we have grown closer to Him,
Our love was kept from growing dim.
His love for us makes ours strong
Even at times when things go wrong.

A better wife I could not find
One so affable and kind.
You have been patient with my faults
When my ego itself exalts.

As we start another year
We can do so without fear.
For the one who pilots our ship
He never falters, nor does he slip.

In this world engrossed in sin
May His light shine from within.
So, a soul forlorn and lost
Will be rescued from life’s frost.

Premium Member**** for Tat

What woman, upon meeting, mentions a woman’s “****.”
**** for tat and all that.
Were we having a conversation?
It took a severe turn; laughed it off.
Did I mention, her’s were laughable.
She was affable but strange.
The conversation was not uplifting.
She was a caretaker, parked in the park.
Benched
‘cause of her “arthritis.”

Strangers, strangely, let you know
what they’re about.
Pouting ‘cause her ****
were smaller bits.

O-Kay…

So I quickly made for my car,
leaving her business card
in her pocket, not mine.

Minding my own business
next time.

affable aardvarks amused arbitrators
brash brazen baboons enjoyed escalators
careless careworn camels circled sissy
dark dusky deputies danced until dizzy
eccentric entertaining elephants enthusiastically embrace
faithful fashionable forest foxes follow a feverish face
gloriously gleeful gorillas gallantly grab a griping grouse
happily, hopeful, they can share with hippos, a house

a hot day and a smelter

A hot day and a smelter

Is it in Qatar, or in Dubai a friendly aluminum
smelter for sale, the one in the picture on a TV add
looks ok
Now that my wife is on holiday with her aunt I cruse
on the TV, but this is the first time I have come across
a smelter of aluminum
I buy food at the deli and warm it at home, taste
remarkable like my wife's cooking, not that I have seen
her peeled potatoes.
She hollers, come and get it and slams the cooking
lids together
I have had many cars, old ones, mainly because
I can't afford the taxi fare, I have no money to
buy a new car.
Aluminum smelter!
Wouldn't that be amazing?
I met a man in a bar who said he was a retired poet
spent his time writing slogans on walls
I told him about the affable smelter in Dubai
the retired poet looked out of the window
picked up his notebook and took no interest
in my smelter
He had seen a donkey with a straw hat and
regretted his retirement

The desolate wasteland of trepidation traversed
by my jagged life that strived relentless for so long
to smoothen the innate angularities of serrated mind,
swirling in the egregious whirlpool of sucking indignation.

Siphoned into sordid abyss of despondent delirium,
I searched out for myself a pathway of passion within,
leading through the pulsating portal to my affable heart,
not yet frozen passive in the prolonged winter of desolation.

The spring of longing came with fragrance of fervor,
floated on the dreamful wings of fleeting emotive time
across the flush of my floral heart where you had flittered
like a butterfly creating the cadence of chromatic symphony.

The concert of the mesmeric music of my yearning,
refrained the rhythm of concealed current called love,
that rolled between you and me to interweave us forever,
as engrossed emotions danced with the ripples of rhapsody.
